Work Text:
Your body jolted awake when the sound of your apartment door slammed shut. Though you immediately regretted waking when the pounding in your head became apparent. Groaning in pain you slumped back into bed, pulling your pillow over your head. You refused to move even when you heard the sound of your bedroom door opening. A laugh far to cherry for how early it was greeted you. The bed dipped beside you, he set a glass on your bedside table before you felt his hand began running soothing circles over your tense shoulders.
“Good morning sleeping beauty~” He chuckled when your only response was a muffled grunt. “If you remove the pillow, I brought you some painkillers and a morning pick-me-up!” Reluctantly you pulled the pillow from your face, exposing your disheveled state to the world. Forcing yourself up on your elbow, you took the offered meds and water from Hoseok before flopping back down.
With a gentle pat to your stomach, Hoseok stood up. “Alright, I’ll leave you to wash up. No offense but I’m pretty sure your breath reeks.” He barely dodged the pillow you chucked at him. His laughter echoed down the hall as he made his way back to your kitchen.
As much as you would have loved to go back to sleep you knew you need some type of food in your system. Forcing yourself out of bed and making your way into the bathroom to take care of your needs. Once you were finished you re-entered your bedroom and peeled your clothes from last night off. Grimacing at the sweat that clung to the fabric. You definitely need a shower after breakfast. After pulling on a baggy shirt and some yoga pants you finally emerged from your room.
Once Hoseok noticed you enter the kitchen he motions towards the bag of food and coffee he bought. Leaning against the counter you peak into the bag and pull out one of the fresh muffins. “So, do you remember what happened last night?” Hobi questioned as he leaned casually against the counter beside you.
You gave a small shrug of your shoulders as you finished your mouthful. “Yeah, I remember everything until about the end of the party. That’s when things get a bit fuzzy. What happened?”
“Well, Jungkook dragged you into a drinking competition.”
You quickly made a noise of understanding. You shook your head with a fond smile “That brat.” You laughed quietly as Hobi nodded his head in agreement. “So what happened after the party ended?”
“Well I didn’t really drink last night, and since I’m the only one with a key to your apartment, volunteered to take you home.” Made sense. The two of you have been best friends for years and you had given him a spare key to your place. No telling if you would happen to lock yourself out of your own place. “And…” He trailed off taking a sip off his coffee before continuing “when you were drunk last night you kept telling me I kiss better than anyone, and I don’t know why since we’ve never kissed before.”
The air left your lungs as a piece of the muffin went down the wrong pipe. You started coughing and hitting your chest in hopes of getting air back into your lungs. A cup was placed in front of you and you quickly down its contents. “Well damn” you voice sounded rough and you quickly tried to clear it. “Guess drunk me can’t tell the difference between dream and reality.”
This time it was his turn to choke on his drink. “You’ve dreamed about kissing me?” The look of pure surprise made you feel a bit self-conscious. You could feel the heat creeping up your neck. Lifting your cup to your lips to give yourself some type of distraction.
“I mean, honestly yeah…” Your eyes filtered around the room, purposely staying away from him. “We’ve been best friends for years, but I’m not immune to how attractive you are Hobi…” Your words ending no louder than a whisper. When it seems like he’s going to make some type of protest your quick to cut him off. “And it’s not just your looks. You have such an amazing personality. Your smile and laugh have the ability to light up an entire room. And the way you dance, damn.” He can’t help but chuckle at the look on your face. His lips pulling in one of those smiles you adore, as you watch his cheeks turn pink.
“Aaah, you can’t just spring this on a guy~!” He laughs again turning and giving you this look. One filled with so much love and adoration. You want to look away but you can’t take your eyes off him. “Is this your way of confessing your feelings for me?” He sounds like he’s joking, but the look on his face screams otherwise. If you didn’t know him as well as you did you’d have missed the gleam of hope and longing that passes his eyes.
You place your drink back on the counter before moving towards him. He watched you silently as you raised your hands; one sliding up his shoulder to rest at the nape of his neck while the other found its home on his cheek. His eyelids flutter when you thumb runs over his cheekbone. The subtle way he leans into your hand gives you the courage to continue.
“Yes, it is.” His eyes slowly open to lock onto yours. Your gazes remain locked for a silent moment before his own hands reach up to cradle your face. Your eyes falling shut as he leans in, your breath slightly catching when his lips finally meet yours. You can’t help the way you melt into him. Your body flush against his as your right-hand moves from his neck to find its way into your hair. Your lips fitting together perfectly, as if they were missing pieces of a puzzle.
The kiss isn’t ruined when the kiss becomes more teeth than lips. Neither of you was able to keep from smiling. When you move to pull away, he follows. Refusing to let you go just yet. Each peck pulling a giggle from you.
Once he finally releases you, you rest your forehead against his. “I was right.” You whisper into the small space between you. He gives you a questioning hum and you can’t help but place another quick kiss on his lips. “You do kiss better than anyone.”
