“WangJi, trust me. You won’t regret this,” Lan XiChen said as he half-dragged his brother into the dimly lit club. “When have I ever led you astray?”
“Uncle’s not going to be pleased when he hears about this,” Lan WanJi replied mulishly as he followed behind his brother, eyes on the floor to make sure he doesn’t step on any dubious looking substances.
“He won’t hear about it then,” XiChen said with a chuckle. “Besides it’s your birthday. Live a little! You’ve been stuck behind your computer all day.”
“I had a report to rush out,” WangJi monotoned, wishing in his heart to be anywhere but here. “Speaking of which, it isn’t done yet. Let’s not stay here too long.”
XiChen smiled as he pulled the both of them to a table to a booth far from the stage, and pushed WangJi down onto the padded seat.
“Fine, we can leave earlier than I had planned. But we are definitely staying till the YiLing Patriach comes on stage.”
“YiLing...Patriarch?” What kind of name was that?
XiChen raised a finger and ordered two tall glasses of beer for them.
WangJi crinkled his nose at the alcohol, “Brother you know we’re both bad with alcohol, are you sure this is a good idea?”
“This is just so we don’t get chased out before the star comes out,” XiChen said with a wink.
“I’m not entirely sure I understand what’s going on,” WangJi replied. “Who is this YiLing Patriarch you’re talking about?”
“You’ll figure out soon enough!” The lights in the club dimmed the moment XiChen’s reply came.
WangJi rolled his eyes at the theatrics on stage, with the lights wildly flashing around, and smoke machine working hard to make the whole club as foggy as possible.
Suddenly the lights on the stage went off, with only a single backlight on, casting a silhouette of the person standing on the stage.
The club immediately broke out into raucous shouts and excited whoops as the person prowled down the stage, each step filled with purpose. The moment their heels reached the front, the spotlights turned on, all focused on illuminating him.
Lan WangJi couldn’t help but stare. Lean muscles hugged a chest that tapered off to a narrow waist, the kind men dream of holding in their arms. His long legs were wrapped in a pair of alluring black stockings, which hid every inch of his legs and yet showed everything.
On his top he wore a pseudo-texudo, the kind that one wears to Halloween. It’s open at the back and it seemed like a simple tug might rip it off. Dragging his gaze down, Lan WangJi realised that the man was wearing a pair of sinfully short pleather shorts over his black stocking. He silently gulped and mentally cursed his brother for bringing him here.
The man soon began his performance, twirling and waving his body to the slow beat of the music. His long head of hair fell to below his shoulder and every time he whirled his head, his hair would follow. And Lan WanJi could not stop looking.
The man soon walked to a pole, he strutted around the pole a few times, gyrating his hips to beat as the music played. Lan WangJi could not tear his eyes away as the man easily lifted himself off the ground and started performing various trucks on the pole, spinning around with an ease that spoke of at least months of intense practice.
By his side, he could see his brother smiling at him with a knowing look in his eyes.
“I believe you’re too old to say I told you so,” WangJi deadpanned without looking at his brother, his eyes still fixated on the beautiful dancer on stage.
Perhaps it was the weight of his gaze or pure luck but the dancer’s eyes darted straight to him, and Lan WangJi’s heart nearly stopped when the man winked at him before licking his lips hungrily, before turning away and continuing his performance.
“Brother, how likely do you think it’ll be to get his number after this is done?”
XiChen gaped at him, a burst of astonished laughter escaping from his lips. “Am I hearing things right? You want his number?”
“Was that not why you brought me here?” WangJi watched as the man ended his performance, throwing many kisses towards the audience before he left. He did not feel at all disappointed that the man did not throw a kiss to him too before he left the stage. Not at all.
“I only brought you here to unwind a little, I didn’t think you’d want the number of the club’s number one dancer. Besides it’s not going to be easy to get his number I think.”
Lan WangJi silently contemplated his brother's words as he watched the foam in his beer slowly die down.
It’ll be difficult to get his number?
Challenge accepted.
