“How long before you can come back?” The vampire stared back into those brown eyes that shone in the dimmed candle light. The night was cold and Yoongi would much rather have the younger man to go inside and not trust his coat. It was made out of fur and looked beautiful around the male’s body. His face was shining with sweat and there were the familiar small moles on the side of his neck. Thoroughly closed by Yoongi’s tongue after he sucked a small amount of blood from the prince’s veins.
“Why does that matter my prince,” Yoongi smirked and felt the cold wind pass his own cold body and collided with the warm skin from the prince. The vampire could see the prince shiver from the balcony, Yoongi looked down from where he stood on the railing. It became a regular thing for them to meet up when the moon was filled, they would come together in the prince’s quarters. The young man draped in furs and thick clothing as the weather changed into winter. Cold nights and loneliness filling up his system, Yoongi can tell by the way his blood tasted sour lately. The prince must lay up at night, hoping for the vampire to appear on this balcony, knocking on the thin window to be let in.
Yoongi knows, he knows that the prince is seeking for him during the day and prays for him to come. As much as he wants to deny it, Yoongi catches himself during his resting time. Thinking about the pretty pink lips and round cheeks when the prince smiled. His tasty blood that was the most delicious kind he ever got to taste. The way the prince danced in the dancing hall with his cousins and royal families from other countries, the way his robes swayed through the wind when he took a walk in the gardens.
“I just can’t wait to see you again,” The prince’s smile was breathtaking, Yoongi could never lie about it. His dead heart would probably beat by the sight of it.
“You should probably enjoy the moment right now,” Yoongi answered while squatting down taking the chin of the prince into his hand, his cold fingertips running along the strong jaw. “You don’t know how long it will last.” The vampire released the prince but the younger got a grip of Yoongi’s rope, fisting it and staring right back into the vampires eyes.
“How much do I have to give for you to stay one day?” There was a desperate look on the prince’s face, searching for that answer he had been looking for so many years now. The prince was ready to give the whole kingdom and the vampire knew but he couldn’t take it.
Yoongi’s immortality was the first reason for that, the last thing he wanted was to make the same mistake he had done so many times now. Falling and falling every century, one and the same person breaking his heart into multiple pieces until it won’t be fixed one day.
“Maybe the next time,” Yoongi suggested when he sat down on the railing, his eyes staring right back into the ones of the prince. “I want you to remember it, every time you’re waiting for me.” Of course, whatever he will say, the prince won’t fully understand. No matter how many times he would try to make the man understand, he will never understand what happened a century ago, or two or three. The clueless won’t remember or understand.
“Remember that feeling of being the one waiting,” it was the worst thing to do, making Hoseok accountable for what he doesn’t understand. The vampire was just so tired of being the only one to wait and wait and wait .
“I don’t understand,” of course he doesn’t, Yoongi wasn’t even mad. He was much rather glad that he doesn’t, the innocence in the younger’s glance. Yoongi couldn’t help but smile and press a soft kiss to the prince’s lips.
“Just promise me to remember one day,” while pressing his nose to the neck, smelling the familiar sweet scent, he knew he had to leave soon. Fate was coming closer to the prince, his fate. The one that would make Yoongi wait another hundreds of years. A blade once again parting Yoongi from his happiness. He kisses the prince a last time before he takes the hands that were still clutching at his chest, giving a soft kiss to the backs of the hands. Maybe he did something wrong this time, instead of falling head first in love once again, he kept his distance and couldn’t enjoy the presence of the prince. Maybe he should’ve risked being broken once again, enjoying the short-lived love story.
“I’m sure I will one day,” The words from the prince made Yoongi think, with every single century passing, he seemed to get more and more aware of the universe around him, his fate.
“I will try to find you quicker this time,” There was no way Hoseok understood what the vampire meant but Yoongi sensed people approaching, outside the prince’s door. His fate from this life was approaching and Yoongi had to leave, let the love of his life die right in front of him so he was able to see him hundreds of years later to start a new story.
Seeing Hoseok fall in love with him again and again was painful, it was never the same love. Every life was different and it broke Yoongi only further.
“Kiss me one last time,” The prince reached out for the vampire, only to receive what he was asking for.
The next time. Yoongi kept repeating to himself when he had to turn his back to the prince and leave. Sounds of swords colliding and blood being shed, made Yoongi close his eyes. Next time, he will kiss the parts where the swords bore through. Next time, he will make it better and will hold the love of his life tighter to his chest.
