the rain
it wasn't yoongi’s favorite friend. in fact, they were the friend that you tend to avoid yet never have the heart to leave them alone. it was that friend that somehow just knew when you were upset. and even though they may unknowingly be part of the reason in the first place, they were too precious for you to stay mad at them. yes, that kind of a friend.
yoongi couldn't get rid of this unwanted friend. wherever he went, the rain seemed to stick to him, pouring down around the vicinity. simply put, he hated this friend with a passion. they ruined his clothes, his hair, his appearance, and his mood. countless times he had been outside when the rain suddenly visited him like the spontaneous friend that they are, destroying his plans for the day as he stood there soaked.
but something in him thought that the rain was a very beautiful friend. whenever he was safely indoors, the rain visited him by tapping on the windows. he would stop whatever he was doing, which was composing or writing mostly, to stare at them for a little while. he had to admit, it was relaxing to watch the raindrops drizzling down the glass panes.
most of his songs were about the rain, just as most of his compositions were accompanied with the audio of rain. almost as if the rain was a secret partner of yoongi’s, he’d leave a message for his friend on everything he created. all of it was about his hatred for them.
it wasn't just him that hated the fact he brought rain everywhere; his friends and family hated the fact as well. whenever yoongi was home, his mother couldn't put the clothes out to dry. whenever yoongi went out with his friends, the sky was never clear. whenever school trips with outdoor activities were planned, yoongi would be asked to not follow at all. though he felt guilty about it, he was more upset that the rain hindered many activities that he could have done.
it didn't always rain around him, no. sometimes the rain gave him a break. just like the song that goes “rain, rain, go away. come again another day,” the rain literally just came another day, almost like it was taunting him by saying “bitch you thought.”
yoongi wished he could stop the rain. he wished that someone else could stop it for him. he would have done anything for his request to be fulfilled.
˚୨୧⋆。
one night, he had a dream.
when yoongi opened his eyes, he was standing in a black void. the sound of rain surrounded him, a situation that he was used to by now. except, he wasn't soaked; the rain wasn't directly on him. when he looked up, the rain was ahead of him, almost as if it were waiting for yoongi with an open hand. and yoongi, subconsciously, followed them.
the more yoongi walked forward, the more the rain moved ahead. soon yoongi was running to catch the rain, like 2 elementary school kids playing tag. he laughed as he ran, not knowing what was so funny about it.
the rain stopped on the spot all of a sudden, and yoongi ran straight into the rain, getting himself drenched. for some reason, it was like the kind of relief you get when you shout “tag, you’re it!” yoongi stood in the rain for a while, letting the rain hug him tight, before a light shone in front of him and caught his attention.
a boy, tousled hair and round eyes, turned back to look at him. they stood staring at each other in silence for a while, before a train horn sounded loudly in the distance, causing yoongi to flinch. the boy opened his mouth. he seemed to say something.
he woke up.
˚୨୧⋆。
“yoongi hyung, we’ll meet again.”
˚୨୧⋆。
when he opened his eyes, the sky was cloudy. “ah, it’s the rain again.” he thought, just as he did every other morning. he got up, washed up and dressed himself. he didn't live with anyone else; they got tired of the gloomy sky yoongi summoned. looking at himself in the mirror, the black bold words of “drop dead” printed across the patterns of flowers screamed at him, but the soft pattering of rain on the windows seemed to mute any other sound other than its own. the white shirt with patterns of the rainbow printed across it lay discarded on his bed. yoongi shrugged at himself, before he popped a lollipop in his mouth and headed outside.
yoongi didn’t remember when he got this curse, or how everyone found out about it. he just knew that the rain found him when he was very young. maybe he offended some sorceress when he was dumb and foolish and they cursed him. who knows? all he understood was that he wanted the rain gone; to experience a day where he could see the sun, where he could be outside without an umbrella. not that it never happened before, but those days were as rare as seeing a rainbow with your own eyes.
as he walked down the street to the coffee shop with the umbrella, which had become worn out from the amount of times yoongi used it, the rain seemed to let up a little.
“ah finally, are you giving me a break?” yoongi looked up at the sky, now a small peak of sunlight shining through.
the rain didn’t answer.
“good, don't come back please.” his gentle tone didn't match the words that came out. he was more than happy.
when he reached the coffee shop, the rain was only drizzling. in an uplifted mood, yoongi closed the wet umbrella and hang it outside before walking in. with a cup of americano ordered, he grabbed a seat to wait.
the rain seemed to stay by his side, falling softly on the ground. if he squinted his eyes, they might even look like little snowflakes. but rain was rain. it fell hard when they were angry, and softer when they just came for a small visit. yoongi never thought about it, but it came to him then; the rain was like the friend that listens to your problems silently, never interrupting or cutting you off. he supposed, that was one thing he could be thankful for.
at that moment, his order was called up. he received the cup of iced americano and got ready to head back home, though the moment he got outside, a boy stumbled into the little canopy outside of the shop. he didn't have an umbrella and was soaking wet, as evidenced by the water flicking out of his hair when he shook his head like a puppy. “phew, does it rain everyday here?” yoongi heard him mutter.
a blot of guilt raised in his throat immediately, and before he could stop it, he replied with “sorry, it just likes me very much. my fault.”
the boy turned around in shock, unaware that yoongi had been standing beside him. it would have been comical, if not for the moment his blue eyes laid on yoongi. a different expression flashed across his face, but it was gone as quickly as it came. it confused yoongi, but he didn't question it.
“um… why would it be your fault?” the boy asked, his head tilted to one side.
“the rain… it only ruins things. it ruins my mood, my plans, my friends’ plans…” yoongi looked away, biting his lip. “the others didn't like it, so they stayed away. the rain washed everyone away from me. it made me lonely.”
the boy’s expression softened. “so… do you hate the rain?’
“hate it? ...it would be a lie to say i do. i don't particularly like it, but i don't hate it either. it’s like- like that friend that you see around but never interact with, y’know? i just wish it didn't make my life so difficult.”
yoongi looked back at the boy and only noticed his appearance then. he had vibrant blue hair and sharp eyes, and seemed to always be smiling which made his cheeks puff up. his eyes were deep blue, an unusual color for a korean.
he nodded, saying “well, can i be your friend then?”
it was an odd request, but yoongi didn't hesitate to say, “under one condition.”
“to not leave you right? i’ve learnt.” he smiled, offering a handshake. “my name is kim taehyung.”
yoongi stared at the offered hand for a while. taehyung’s hand was bigger than his; an interesting note. he found himself smiling as he accepted the handshake. “min yoongi. pleasure to meet you.”
˚୨୧⋆。
“meet me here tomorrow, i have something to show you, hyung.”
˚୨୧⋆。
that night, yoongi had a dream again. it started the same way as the night before, the rain guiding him somewhere. but it didn't end at the same scene.
that time, he saw the boy clearly through the rain. the boy only smiled sadly back at him, and yoongi felt his heart breaking. he found himself mouthing the words ‘don’t go. don’t leave’ but no sound came out; his voice was muted by the thundering of rain
the train doors that the boy stood behind closed, and his face disappeared once more. at the same time as the train horns, the same words were heard.
˚୨୧⋆。
“yoongi hyung… stay with our friend, okay?”
˚୨୧⋆。
“is it… seriously not raining?” yoongi asked to himself. he stretched his hands out and waited. no water drops hit his hand, but the warmth of the sun did instead.
“guess the rain didn't wanna find you today?” taehyung offered, a sly smile on his face. his eyes seemed to twinkle even more under the sun. yoongi wondered if it was possible to reflect stars in someone’s eyes.
“so… why are we here?”
the duo was standing atop a small hill that looked out into one part of the city of daegu. it was raining when yoongi stepped out of the house, but once he met with taehyung again, the rain had disappeared completely even without yoongi begging it to. yoongi wondered if the rain knew he was meeting someone today and decided to spare mercy.
taehyung had dragged him down the street into the little park. though yoongi complained about climbing up the hill at first, taehyung managed to convince him that the view would be worth it.
“i told you, i wanna show you something. come here,” taehyung said while holding yoongi by the hand, leading him into the pavilion at the summit. it caught yoongi by surprise, but he didn't comment on it. rather, it felt nice. taehyung made him sit on the bench facing the city, before plopping down next to him. “okay now wait for it.”
“what- what am i waiting for-” yoongi tried to ask before he was interrupted by a very familiar sound.
yoongi turned away from taehyung and looked at the scenery. the rain had started pouring down again, almost without warning. since yoongi was under shelter, he didn't get wet, and neither did taehyung.
a very loud sigh came out of yoongi’s mouth. “not the damn rain again.. and it was still a nice day.”
taehyung frowned at his statement. “oh c’mon… what’s so bad about it? look at the view.”
“view? there's no view with the rain blocking it.” yoongi turned to taehyung.
“no, no- the rain isn't blocking it- the rain is the view!” taehyung rebutted, cupping yoongi’s cheeks and turning his head to face the city again.
this time, he realized what taehyung wanted to show him. the rain poured over the city, almost like a blanket that wrapped the city in their embrace. small lights of colors bounced off the raindrops. with the mist surrounding the scenery, it gave the city a mystical, fantastical vibe. yoongi was awed. he’d never seen the rain in such a perspective, which made yoongi realize once again that the rain was a very beautiful friend. his heart became more at ease the longer he stared at it.
“it’s pretty, isn't it? always makes me feel better.” taehyung whispered. yoongi just nodded along.
“hyung, why do you dislike the rain so much?”
“i answered you yesterday.”
“but… do you still find it ugly?”
“if it brings nothing but sadness, how much of a beauty can it be?”
“i don't know hyung, personally…” taehyung stared out into the distance again, emotions swimming through his eyes.
almost as if they wanted to hear it too, the rain became softer. then satisfied, they left.
˚୨୧⋆。
“the way the lights reflect off the rain you bring, i think they look like little stars falling down.”
˚୨୧⋆。
a few blissful days passed after that, yoongi and taehyung growing ever closer. he didn't have a dream until three weeks later.
it was a familiar dream. the very same dream he saw on the previous two nights where he did dream. yoongi wanted answers. he didn't want to watch the boy step into the train and disappear into nowhere again. so he ran faster, this time on pace with the rain so he was fully drenched the moment he reached the spot.
“don't go!” yoongi shouted. the boy was startled before landing his eyes on yoongi. for some reason, that seemed familiar.
“yoongi hyung…” almost like a trigger, the scene around him painted itself in, spreading like watercolor from where the boy stood. the rain left him behind long ago.
they were in a train station. the train was leaving in 5 minutes. the boy was boarding it to go somewhere far away, to go somewhere where yoongi couldn't reach. “don't go.” yoongi repeated.
the boy smiled. it wasn't a genuine smile, it was a smile that you gave when you didn't know what to do when someone’s sad. after a moment, the boy walked up to yoongi. he placed his hands on yoongi’s cheeks, making him look at him.
the boy reached behind him and unfastened the necklace he wore. it was attached to an amulet that was shaped like a water drop.
then again, "yoongi hyung, we’ll meet again. stay with our friend, okay?”
everything faded and the necklace dropped to the floor. a train horn sounded in the distance.
˚୨୧⋆。
“… will definitely come back for you and them.”
˚୨୧⋆。
“taehyung, i want to know more about you.” yoongi mentioned to taehyung one day. they were hanging out on the rooftop of yoongi’s home, and the rain was nowhere in sight. yoongi guessed that the rain gave him a break again, though he had been noticing that they seemed to go away whenever he met up with taehyung. perhaps, they liked taehyung.
(“why him and not me, bastard?” yoongi shouted to the rain. the rain never answered.)
“sure hyung, what would you like to know?”
“i- i don't know,” yoongi scratched behind his neck, his face reddening. “i’ve never been good at socializing.”
“oh right, you didn't have a lot of friends.” taehyung teased. yoongi gave a playful whack on his shoulder. yes, they were at this level of friends now.
“well then, i'll tell you a story. i used to have a friend, back here in daegu.” taehyung started. emotions filled his eyes again. yoongi thought that taehyung’s eyes were his favorite feature on him. immersed in the galaxy within taehyung’s eyes, yoongi listened as he spoke.
“he was 2 years older than me, and was my neighbour for as long as i can remember. we played together almost everyday after i could move and talk on my own. he was always there for me whenever i fell down, literally or metaphorically, and when he reached high school, i realized i fell in love.” taehyung stared up at the sky that was now dotted with stars.
“that’s cute. are you still close?” yoongi brought his legs even closer to his chest and hugged them tight.
“i… don't know.” taehyung visibly swallowed. “we had to separate after my first year of middle school; my parents moved their workplace to seoul so i had to follow as well. we haven't been in touch for a few years. i gave him a gift to remember me, and i just hope that he hasn't forgotten me.”
“i’m sorry. i wish you could meet him again.”
“it’s okay, because i think i saw him the other day.”
yoongi hugged his knees even tighter. “find him again.”
taehyung let out a laugh. “i am, hyung.”
˚୨୧⋆。
yoongi’s fingers found the necklace around his neck again. it was shaped in a water drop, similar to the one he was given in his dream. he wore it every day; he didn't feel safe walking out of home without a weight lying on his chest. whenever he caught his reflection in the mirror, the necklace would reflect prettily against the light. yoongi thought about what taehyung said to him the other day. if the rain were little stars, was the necklace the sun?
yoongi didn’t know when he got this necklace; it seemed to just appear around his neck one day. he thought about that boy in his dream again, and how the boy gave him the necklace. had it been the same one? was the boy real? one thing yoongi knew though, the necklace was his friend, similar to how the rain was.
speaking of, the rain was pattering on the windows again. it had been awhile since he heard the rain alone. if yoongi were honest, he’d said he missed them.
“taehyung, have you ever seen my necklace?” yoongi asked after he stepped out of the bathroom. taehyung, who was sitting on yoongi’s couch, shook his head. yoongi took the chain out of his shirt delicately.
an expression flashed across his face, similar to how it did on the first day they met. yoongi could pinpoint it now; the expression looked like a mix of longing and sadness, yet gratefulness could be seen as well.
“is something wrong?” yoongi decided to ask this time.
“no it’s... very pretty, hyung. did someone give it to you?”
“i’m… not sure. but i saw it in my dream.”
“dreams? of that boy?”
yoongi nodded. taehyung looked away again, focused on his phone, but he wasn’t scrolling or doing anything with it. “do you think… it’s trying to tell you something?”
yoongi joined taehyung on the couch, his fingers tracing the edges of the water drop. “i don't know. i think… it’s rather familiar- that scene at the train station.”
“was he leaving somewhere?” yoongi nodded again.
“i wish i knew where he went. maybe i could find him again. ask why he took it off.”
taehyung threw his phone on the table, and leaned his head to one side until he fell onto yoongi’s shoulder. their hands automatically found and held each other tight.
“hyung, did you know i see the world differently compared to other people?”
“you’ve told me.”
taehyung hummed, head tilted down. yoongi’s other hand automatically reaches up to ruffle his blue hair. “you have very beautiful hair.” he commented.
“odd compliment, but thank you.” taehyung giggled, looking up at yoongi. “and you have blonde.” yoongi nodded in response. “do you know what i see you as, hyung?”
“no, what?”
“i think…” taehyung lowered his voice to a whisper. yoongi could feel his breath against his ear. “you're a star… or maybe a celestial being.”
his warm lips landed on yoongi’s forehead. somehow, he didn't dislike it at all.
˚୨୧⋆。
“yes, you’re an angel that brought the stars to where we can touch them.”
˚୨୧⋆。
that night he dreamed once more.
the blue necklace dangled around his neck as he ran back to the same train station. the rain was nowhere in sight; he didn't need its guidance anymore.
“hyung!” the boy greeted him this time. the train wasn't here yet. yoongi stumbled to a stop, falling into the boy’s open arms.
a name was stuck on the tip of his tongue, but for some reason, he couldn't say it out. it felt like a piece of candy that got choked up in your throat, going neither up nor down. instead, yoongi just repeated, “don't go, don't leave again.”
the boy giggled, saying, “i’m not going anywhere. i’ve already found you.”
the train went past the station, not stopping for anyone. the necklace dangled between the two boys staring into each other’s eyes. his eyes, yoongi thought, was starting to look very familiar.
˚୨୧⋆。
the warmth from taehyung’s kiss lingered on yoongi’s lips. he opened his eyes when taehyung pulled away, looking at him with stars in his eyes. “was that okay?” taehyung whispered. yoongi just nods.
they were on the couch, yoongi lying against the armrest with taehyung above him. he held him gently by the waist as the younger inched close again, connecting their lips sweetly. taehyung’s hands gripped onto yoongi’s shoulder, not too tightly to hurt but firm enough to support himself atop him.
just when taehyung showed signs of using his tongue, a loud thunder rang outside and made taehyung almost jump off yoongi, if not for yoongi’s secure arms around him. yoongi didn't even mind that the mood was ruined; he just laughed at the scene that played before him.
“ah, it’s not funny hyung! i'm embarrassed.” taehyung hid his face behind his hands. “i swear i'm not afraid of thunder...”
“okay, whatever you say, you big baby.” yoongi cooed, going as far as making the expression you make when you cooed at actual babies..
taehyung faked anger as he looked down at yoongi. “why do you have to bring the rain everywhere, hyung.”
yoongi knew he didn't mean anything bad by that; it was just a harmless tease, but he would be lying if he said the familiar phrase didn't hurt him, even if it’s just a little. taehyung must have noticed the change in yoongi’s expression as he placed his hands around yoongi’s cheeks right away. “oh no, i didn’t mean to be mean.”
yoongi laughed it off. “i know. i’m fine.”
taehyung didn't seem convinced by those 4 words, as evidenced by him nervously biting his lips. yoongi watched as his sharp eyes trailed from his eyes, down to the lips, neck, then the necklace that now laid on yoongi’s chest in between them. he took a deep breath in, exhaled, then spoke again.
“yoongi, i can stop the rain.”
˚୨୧⋆。
“taehyung, why are we going to the rooftop?” yoongi struggled to balance between holding the umbrella with one hand and holding onto taehyung’s on the other.
“it’s prettier when we are up high!”
“gee, have some mercy for the weak-hearted.”
“you talk like you’re forty, hyung. am i dating a forty year old?” taehyung pouted back at yoongi.
“yeah, in about 14 years.” yoongi gave a pout back, struggling to look up at taehyung against the rain, since he was standing one step above yoongi. damn, he was already shorter than the younger, this is just too much!
the whole city covered under the rain stretched out in front of them as they reached the rooftop. still holding onto yoongi’s hands, taehyung guided yoongi to the center of the platform. then he let go and moved forward a little more, nearer to the edge.
the rain was pouring down hard on his umbrella. it had become a sound that yoongi was used to, but he didn't miss it the whole time the rain didn't visit him. that day however, they seemed to have missed bothering yoongi. in fact, they didn't even let up this time despite yoongi being around taehyung the whole day. strange, didn't the rain like taehyung?
taehyung turned his back to the city, facing only yoongi. his umbrella had been thrown aside as well, making the boy drenched in the rain. yoongi stayed silent, watching the scene unfold under his own umbrella.
“watch.” he brought his hands together to give a loud clap, and held them there. his eyes were shut and he seemed to be in full concentration.
“taehyung-” yoongi was about to ask what he was trying to do when the air around them started to move rapidly, creating wind. yoongi held onto his umbrella tightly while struggling to keep his eyes on taehyung, who seemed to be perfectly fine and wet. yoongi’s necklace started to shine brightly, almost as if it was a star of its own.
without warning, taehyung opened his eyes. yoongi held a gasp when he saw his favorite pair of eyes glow blue. it was a matching shade with his hair, which was ruffling in the wind and made taehyung seem more gorgeous as a whole.
the moment taehyung opened his eyes, the rain stopped. well- not exactly- it would be more accurate to say that the raindrops stopped in motion. yoongi’s vision focused on the drops hanging in the air between them, before quickly evaporating into the atmosphere. all the other drops followed their friend and disappeared into the air as well. when his eyes found taehyung once more, he was looking upwards at the sky, though his eyes were still glowing. following his vision, he found the rain clouds breaking apart, letting the sun rays pierce through them.
the rain stopped. taehyung stopped the rain.
“so, was that cool?” taehyung asked after a while. his eyes had turned back to normal and his hands were behind him, a silly grin plastered on his face.
“...you have a lot of explaining to do, young man.” yoongi took a few seconds to reply. he was still in a state of shock, stupidly holding onto the umbrella that was now useless under the sun.
“you’ve… seen this before, hyung. i’ve shown you before.”
“before…?”
taehyung nodded. “try and remember, hyung. because we’ve met a long time ago.”
“i don't- i can't- can you give me a trigger or something?”
the smile on taehyung faded into a sad one. wait- he’s seen that smile before. he walked closer to yoongi and reached for the necklace, holding the small water drop at their eye-level.
“you kept my gift. i’m glad.”
and suddenly, like a flower that finally bloomed after the winter, everything made sense.
˚୨୧⋆。
“don't cry, yoongi hyung, we’ll meet again. stay with our friend okay? taehyungie will definitely come back for you and them.”
˚୨୧⋆。
the scene at the train station that yoongi blocked out in his mind came back all at once. yoongi didn't want to remember it; he never wanted to remember it, because all it brought was sadness.
the name that sat on his tongue. the rain that fell that day. it finally made sense.
yoongi’s little steps ran in the rain to the train station. he spotted taehyung the moment he got to the train platform. “don’t go, don't leave me.” he’d yell again and again, tears streaming down his small face.
“yoongi hyung…” taehyung was also on the verge of tears. yoongi stumbled to a stop, falling into the embrace of taehyung. they didn't let each other go, even when there was only 5 minutes before the train left.
“i don't have any other friends. can't you just choose not to go? stay with me taehyungie.”
“i don't want to go. i want to stay.” taehyung wiped yoongi’s tears away with his thumbs. “but i have to.”
“then promise me. promise you’ll come back. bring me to dates again, to the rooftops, the hills, the coffee shops and everywhere else. that- that you’ll show me your cool tricks again. anything, taehyungie. do something so i know you’ll come back…” they stayed in that position, not caring about the world outside of them at that moment.
“hyung…” taehyung pulled away just a little; enough to reach behind his neck and unfasten his necklace. the chain was attached to a small amulet in the shape of a water drop. “i’ll introduce you to a friend.”
yoongi stayed silent as taehyung leaned forward to put the necklace around yoongi’s neck. “this friend, i hope they can take my position when i am not here. when they visit you, think of me, okay? i’ll think of you too, when they visit me.”
his small hands clutched around the waterdrop-shaped crystal tightly. it radiated a warm heat in his palm as if to tell him “it’s okay. everything will be okay.” the train horn sounded in the distance, signalling that it was leaving in a minute. taehyung’s family members called him from within the carriage.
“don't cry, yoongi hyung, we’ll meet again. stay with our friend okay? taehyungie will definitely come back for you, and them.”
˚୨୧⋆。
“you… introduced the rain to me, as a friend.” yoongi breathed out finally. he didn't know how long they had been in this spot.
taehyung held yoongi firm by the arms, like he was afraid yoongi would break. “well... it’s more like- i introduced you to the rain, by giving you that necklace. i hoped it would keep you accompany and make you happy, but…”
taehyung was so much more beautiful in that moment. his hair was a sparkling blue, light reflecting off the raindrops caught in his hair. his eyes still held the same galaxy within them, shining with the same intensity, if not even brighter. he had clearly grown into his big ears and now looked like the next star model. but one thing didn't change about taehyung; the heart inside still loved yoongi very, very much.
yoongi shook his head. “the rain was supposed to be you. when it knocked against my windows, it was supposed to be you asking whether i was alright. when it poured down and made my clothes wet, it was supposed to be you hugging me. when it wouldn't leave me alone, it was because i was lonely and it tried to accompany me. when-”
“woah, slow down hyung- hyung? are you crying? oh no, don't cry hyung…” taehyung’s hands automatically reached for his cheeks again, trying to wipe the tears away. yoongi just shook his head even more vigorously, fully aware that tears were flowing down his face like an endless trail of pearls. only when taehyung gave up and dropped his hands did yoongi launch himself into taehyung’s chest, tucking his head in his neck.
“im- so fuckin so-sorry- for hatin' the rain- for not rememberin' you.” yoongi’s words muffled against the fabric of taehyung’s clothes.
taehyung’s shoulder moved below his chin respectively to his giggle. “you know, you still have the habit of rambling when you got upset, hyung.” his voice shook. yoongi could tell he was holding back tears.
“sh-shut up”
“it’s cute. you’re cute.”
“shut up.”
“it’s okay, i love you.”
“... okay.” yoongi nuzzled even more into his shoulder like a little kitten. it made taehyung giggle again, which was music to his ears. just like that, they stayed in each other's embrace for a few more minutes, content with just being in the present. it reminded yoongi of them in the train station 14 years ago, hugging each other tight in tears and not letting go. except, this time, the hug was a reunion, an answer.
˚୨୧⋆。
“hyung, can you make it rain again?”
“how? i don't have any powers.”
“just ask them to come, hyung. it’s our friend, after all.”
“huh… i swear if you’re trying to make me a fool…”
“just do iiiit.”
“sigh… ... how- how do i even do this.”
“why do i have to teach you how to socialize again! and you do realize you’re still clinging onto me?”
“o- okay so, ahem. i’ll let go. uh… taehyung stop looking at me like that- hey rain, can you- i don't know, come over?”
“PFF”
“HEY you said you wouldn't laugh at me!”
“sorry sorry! it’s just- that was so cute.”
“ahhhh i told you! if you made me a clown i’ll- oh- it worked.”
˚୨୧⋆。
the sudden pouring of raindrops shut both of them up for a few seconds, before they both burst out in laughter again. it was lovely. taehyung was back, the rain was back, and yoongi’s happiness was back. the 2 boys stood in the rain laughing like silly idiots, almost as if they haven't grown up at all. looking back at it all, yoongi would do it all over again if it meant that taehyung would still be in his arms in the end.
taehyung pulled yoongi back into his embrace. yoongi felt his kisses on his head, his temples and cheeks. his hand trailed from yoongi’s own hands, up up up until they were at his jaw and tilting his head up. and finally, they kissed in the rain.
yoongi didn’t hate the rain anymore. almost as if they were saying congratulations, the rain let up after a while and went away again.
˚୨୧⋆。
“hyung, do you want to know a dream i’ve always had? it’s to kiss someone in the rain!”
“–especially you, hyung”
