Chapter Text
The van was silent as the green haired punk basically glared out of the windshield in front of him, a frown on his lips the entire time due to the demands of the pale, peace loving blonde girl from one of the other seasons of Total Drama. She wanted no sounds so that the others could sleep peacefully but it annoyed the punk hugely, he needed music to focus since it was likely that he was the only one awake now. Those were his thoughts until a long leg came over the center console, a leather knee high boot with a decent heel led up to a jet black mini shirt with a chain hanging off of her right hip. He didn't know how the chain stayed connected to her skirt but he liked the new look she had taken in the three years they hadn't seen each other in. Her black shirt ended just above her abdomen which revealed her slender stomach and that caused the punk to glance up towards her face, her black eyes were glimmering in the street lights. Her makeup had improved over the years as well, instead of just simple black liner on her waterline the young woman now had black lipstick and double winged liner. She gave him the faintest hint of a smile as she carefully slid into the passenger seat, buckling up and tucking some of her hair behind her ear. Her black hair had gotten longer, now it reached her shoulder blades and was still streaked with her usual turquoise streaks. While the punk gave her a once over out of the corner of his eye, the young goth woman did the same thing. His black hair was longer than before, he had gotten rid of his mo-hawk when he turned eighteen. Now the green dye was mostly on the fringe that he kept pushed back out of his face, the eyebrow bar was still there as well as his gauges and other ear piercings but he had spider bites on the left side of his bottom lip though he ditched his nose piercing. He wore a long sleeved black shirt with a skull designed on the front, his jeans were black as well with several chains hanging from the left side which rattled against his door. Combat boots had replaced his red sneakers along the way which she found was interesting, but his spiked choker had stayed the same and she liked that sense of familiarity.
"You look bored out of your mind, mind if I join you Duncan?" Her voice was rough like always, something that he found nice.
"I don't mind doll face, as long as Trent won't bitch you out for being up here with me." Duncan shrugged, looking out the window with a sigh escaping his lips.
"Trent doesn't control me, you know that."
"Yeah, yeah. I can't believe you got back with him Gwen."
Gwen fell silent, crossing her arms over her chest as she looked out of her window. He had a point, Trent had been throwing challenges during the second season they all participated in which caused a rift between the two for about four months. But he begged for her to take him back, and she took him back under reasons that she couldn't understand. There was no love between them anymore, she thought that it was the familiarity of the relationship since college was starting soon and she just needed someone solid to stick with. Her gaze shifted back to where Trent was sleeping against the window, his black hair was messy and the angle of his head looked painful to her even now. They had worked together when they were sixteen and for a little while when they were seventeen but slowly that all changed especially since they were famous by this point, his possessiveness annoyed her and the fact that he didn't take specific things seriously unless something bothered him not anything that bothered her.
"Okay, maybe he isn't the best person to be with anymore. But at least you don't have to deal with Courtney anymore." She leaned her head back.
"Yeah, that's true. She was too controlling for my liking and she never got over our little stunt of being together." He sighed.
Gwen smiled faintly at the memory of them dating, it had been brief but it was something she promised herself to remember but she was still the one who ended it. She had to to protect her biggest secret from him, and she still wasn't completely sure on how she had been talked into coming with them on this trip. Duncan had just showed up and Gwen had stepped out of her house to talk to him, the next thing she really knew, she was in the van with him and the others driving to West Virginia from Canada. A sigh escaped her lips as Duncan drove towards the first gas station they had seen in miles. He turned into it, pulling up next to a pump before looking at her.
"Could you pump the gas? I'm going to go get us some snacks, alright?"
Gwen nodded and got out of the van, closing the door before walking around to the other side of the van. Duncan had rented a huge van for everyone to travel in, Gwen said it was a van but it was more of a RV. She picked up the pump after twisting off the gas cap, placing it in and beginning to pump the gas. Duncan looked back at Gwen silently once he got far enough away from the vehicle, he studied her in silence with a pang in his chest while frowning slightly. They had broken up out of no where and only a few months later, she was back with that cliche Trent with no explanation as to why. There hadn't been a solid reason, she just broke up with him and ran back to Trent. They hadn't spoken since the breakup until he showed up at her house without warning, the shocked happiness on her expression when she opened the door nearly made him hug her but he made himself remember that she was no longer his. So many people thought they were meant for each other, he had thought that too but it still ended and because of his lingering feelings for her... He hadn't managed to truly move on though he did try to force himself and he had been acting like he hadn't cared about her during the beginning of the trip while she sat next to Trent on her phone. Gwen looked at him as he vanished inside of the gas station, looking down at her phone and texting her mom with one hand. Her mom had promised to look after him, but she still wanted to check on them every now and again.
Soon, the pump clicked and she returned it to the cradle while waiting for her mom to respond. Gwen put the gas cap back on and twisted it into place, she walked towards the front of the RV in time to see Duncan walking back over or rather stalking back over while clearly seething.
"Did something happen in there?" She asked.
"The guy started gossiping about us being up here, apparently he watched Total Drama and he begged for answers I couldn't give him. He also had no information on how to get to Silent Hill, all this place was good for was the gas and snacks."
Her hand moved before she really knew it, she cradled Duncan's cheek in her palm briefly before she realized what she was doing. The two alternative young adults moved apart with Duncan climbing back into the driver's seat and Gwen moving to get back into the RV. They didn't say much after that, but the tension was felt by the only other one awake. The red-headed gamer from the Revenge of the Island season, Sam, glanced up from his game in silence as he studied the two. Everyone with eyes could see they still had feelings for each other, but Trent wasn't one to let go easily and that was preventing Gwen from getting what he saw as a Happy Ending cut-scene. He shrugged and went back to gaming, he didn't want to say anything during this as he wasn't sure of what to say since he had been fighting with Dakota when he decided to come on this trip with his friends. Gwen leaned her cheek against her palm, pressing her lips together before she looked at Duncan silently.
"Hey... Could we talk the next time we stop? Just us?" She studied his reaction as best as she could.
He blinked and glanced towards her briefly, a small frown on his lips before his lips curling up briefly, "Yeah, I think I would like that."
She nodded and the two went back to silence, though now there was less tension between them. Duncan knew that solo talk would be his one chance to tell her how he actually felt, there was no way he would let this opportunity pass him by easily. The punk had always been hard headed and too headstrong, there was no way he would let Trent have the last word towards Gwen. He just needed to think of how he could do that, what he would say to her and maybe he would get the answers she never gave him. Gwen closed her eyes with a small yawn escaping her lips, before making sure her seat belt was secured then she looked back at the others. It seemed like everyone was in safe places, including Sam who was buckled up in the couch while gaming without making much of a sound.
"Shit!" Duncan's exclamation caused her to look forward again.
Duncan barely had enough time to swerve around the woman who was standing in the middle of the road they were driving on, he couldn't get control of the RV again which caused it to begin swerving around. From how they were getting thrown around, the others woke up just in time for Duncan to yell back for them to find something to hold onto. Gwen's scream was cut short as the vehicle fell over onto the road. Her head connected with the dashboard and everything went back, though she heard everyone's screams just before everything was gone.
Gwen's consciousness returned slowly, and the sounds of someone calling her name was the thing that was waking her up. There was yelling all around her, but it all mixed together and she couldn't focus on anything or anyone's specific voices. A groan escaped her lips as her eyes slowly fluttered open to see Duncan's concerned expression above her, he looked relieved once that happened though he didn't move to sit her up and she didn't have the strength to move just yet. It took several moments for Gwen to get moving, Duncan guided her up after she felt up for moving. Relief washed over her when she saw everyone else standing around, no one seemed to be seriously hurt. They just seemed to have cuts, bruises and scrapes but there were no major injuries or broken bones. DJ was panicking by Dawn, holding onto her as she attempted to calm him down with a small smile on her lips. Cody was gripping Noah's arm, looking around while pressing his lips together with his eyebrows drawing together. There was fog surrounding their crash but Gwen knew for a fact there was no fog around the time they crashed.
"What the hell happened Duncan? I thought you were wide awake!" Trent looked angry as he stalked over.
"I was awake, someone walked out in front of this thing. You can't take a swerve in this thing and not crash!" Duncan narrowed his eyes at him.
"Yeah right, I bet you were distracted with something else."
Gwen glared at her boyfriend when the implication loaded in her mind, a scowl touching her lips in the process.
"Trent, I suggest you cap your jealousy. We need to work as a team and figure out what the hell is going on." Gwen snapped.
"I can tell you what happened, we're in Silent Hill." Sam's voice caused them all to look at him.
Sam pointed towards a large welcome sign that read, 'Welcome to Silent Hill.' A chill ran up Gwen's spine from the sight of the sign, while Noah looked around at them with a frown tugging on his lips.
"How screwed are we Sam? You're the gamer."
"In my professional opinion as a gamer... We're pretty goddamn fucked."
