Work Text:
“Gitae!”
Chisoo’s head shot up from where he was eating to see a man hug his boyfriend warmly.
He was dining and writing his next chapter in Gitae’s sister’s restaurant while his boyfriend was serving clients and his sister-in-law was in the kitchen. He did this almost every night, simply because Gitae wanted to see him when he worked to cheer him up.
But now, that tranquil family dynamic was being disturbed.
Recently, Gitae had been rekindling his friendship with his ex-boyfriend from high school, which Chisoo had been trying really hard to be accepting of.
It had started with them getting coffee together one afternoon with Chisoo’s approval, then going to a restaurant one night when Chisoo didn’t want to go out, then going shopping together, to the movies together… basically, they had become best friends.
Now, Chisoo didn’t consider himself the particularly jealous type, especially with friends, but this man specifically was the problem. He had been Gitae’s first kiss, first boyfriend, first time… and most of all, he was charming.
If he was average looking or downright unattractive, Chisoo wouldn’t have felt as threatened, but he had to admit that he was really good-looking, which made everything worse.
And now, that man was entering their small family life like it was no big deal! Chisoo was almost one foot out of the door by now! And that… was something Chisoo would never let happen.
“Chisoo!” the newcomer exclaimed, one hand on his shoulder. “How are you today?”
“Oh I’m fine, thank you,” he smiled politely.
He still didn’t know how Gitae couldn’t see through his facade, spotting his fake smiles and politeness from miles away. Wasn’t he supposed to know when his boyfriend was uncomfortable? That made Chisoo even angrier.
“That’s great!” the stranger replied. “Well I was just passing by but you should come hang out with Gitae and me next time!”
“Yeah, sure,” he replied through gritted teeth.
That night, Chisoo was sulking. Next to him in bed, Gitae put his head on his shoulder.
“What’s going on?”
“Guess.”
Gitae looked like he was in intense reflection for about five minutes before hugging him and giving him a peck on the cheek. “I don’t know.”
“You don’t know?!” he exclaimed, harsher than he wanted to sound. “Are we dating or am I just an afterthought? You should know what I’m feeling, especially since it’s all your fault.”
Gitae pouting face made him soften immediately after that. “Tell me what I did and I’ll fix it.”
“Well, you’ve been having dates with another guy for weeks, here’s what you did,” he replied, folding his arms around his chest.
Gitae stayed silence for a little while, but then Chisoo started hearing some panting, as if someone was laughing.
He finally turned his head and here Gitae was, eyes closed, a piercing laugh releasing in the air. That little shit! Chisoo was already in a foul mood, but that infuriated him even more!
“It’s not funny!”
Gitae’s laugh having started to die down, he replied: “Oh yeah it is. You really think I’m cheating on you?”
“Well no,” Chisoo started, suddenly feeling shameful that he’d ever doubt his boyfriend, “but you’re so close to him you could fall in love one day!”
“Chisoo,” Gitae said tenderly, caressing his cheek. “He got married overseas to his boyfriend last year. We literally spend all of our time talking about our partners. I will never fall in love with him.”
Chisoo’s heart had now softened again. He took his boyfriend’s hands in his.
“I’m sorry. I guess that because he’s your ex I thought...”
“We dated more than ten years ago!” Gitae interrupted. “And also he was terrible at kissing and in bed, for that matter. We were just teenagers.”
Chisoo nodded, kissing him softly. “Okay, I promise I won’t talk about him ever again.”
“Good, because I’m probably going to stop seeing him as often anyways,” Gitae responded, kissing his cheek. “He’s nice but a little clingy, and only talks about himself. He’s just a casual friend.”
“Hm,” Chisoo agreed.
“Whereas, you,” continued Gitae, suddenly straddling him, “you are my loving boyfriend who’s wonderful at kissing and fantastic in bed.”
A grin broke on Chisoo’s face. He put his hands on Gitae’s thighs.
“I like where this is going… I should be jealous more often.”
