Work Text:

Jimin snuck a look to the back of the lecture hall, searching for Min Yoongi. The music therapy major was usually easily detectable to Jimin. He wouldn't admit that he has a minor crush on the boy (which is mainly the reason why he could spot Yoongi so quickly), but he definitely finds him cute. He sighed as he failed to spot the young man. Jimin tried not to be disappointed. He was probably sick, anyway. Yoongi always seemed to be sick with some ailment. Jimin needed to give him some of the Vitamin C drops he kept in his backpack.

Jimin shook his head to clear his mind and looked back to his Songwriting professor. He had his dance finals coming up soon and couldn't afford to have anything else in his mind. Tilting his chair back after finishing a section of his notes, Jimin exhaled. His eyes were begging to be closed. His mind started drifting to the image of Min Yoongi, with his cat-like eyes and his pouty lips and-

Suddenly, Jimin felt something metal hit his head. Some girl from his class whispered an apology and picked up her fallen computer. Jimin smiled and whispered back, "High pain tolerance, I'll be fine."

These events were not uncommon to him. Jimin would stub his toe or trip on a chair or even race straight into a wall and he would feel nothing. Absolutely nothing. At first, he had brushed it off, blaming it on his mind playing games with him. The next few times it happened, he told his friend, Taehyung. Taehyung proceeded to ask Jimin if he had been bitten by any radioactive spiders and Jimin decided to never ask Taehyung anything again.

Recently, this was happening every single time he got hurt. Jimin hadn't felt pain since about six months ago- actually, he couldn't even remember getting sick since then. Admittedly, he hadn't made any attempt to research it and find out what the hell was going on. Jimin had been much happier without the strain of his muscles while dancing and the looming threat of illness before a show.

Jimin's eyes wandered up to the clock. Great. He was supposed to be at an extra dance practice. Jimin waved at the professor and stood up to pack up his things, accidentally hitting his leg. The slam of Jimin's knee against the desk was loud enough for Jimin's professor to stop his lecture.

"Are you okay?" he asked, concern on his face.

Jimin hastily shoved his notebook and laptop in his backpack. "High pain tolerance," he answered with a smile and a thumbs-up before slinging his bag over his shoulder and rushing out of the lecture hall. His dance teacher was going to kill him.

Yoongi offered a thankful smile as he accepted the ice from Namjoon. He knew it wasn't going to help, but it felt like he was at least making an effort to subdue the pain.

Namjoon plopped down on their couch and searched for the tv remote. "What do you think the kid did this time?"

Yoongi sighed as he placed the ice on the crown of his head. He could still feel the throbbing pain of whatever happened despite the aid. "Feels like he ran head-first into a metal train car."

Namjoon scoffed. "You get more creative every time."

"Just saying what I feel, Joon. And I feel like the kid ran head-first into a metal train car." Yoongi smiled as their black cat, Dionysus, hopped up on the couch and rested on his lap. "It's worth it, though. He doesn't deserve to feel pain."

Namjoon sighed and reached his hand out to pet the cat. "Y'know, if you're this whipped, you should talk to him."

Yoongi rolled his eyes. "I've spoken to him before."

"Yeah," Namjoon scoffed, "by whispering under your breath. He can't hear you."

Yoongi spluttered and smacked Namjoon's hand away from the cat. "Shut up and turn on Seokjin's new drama. He's been bugging us to watch it for weeks and- Ah, Fuck!" Yoongi reflexively pulled his leg to his chest, subsequently pushing the cat off of his lap.

"You okay?" Namjoon asked, knowing that Yoongi was completely fine, his best friend had just felt pain from an injury that wasn't there.

Yoongi sucked in air through his teeth. "I'm fine, I'm fine. Jimin must have slammed his knee into his desk again. If he does it a few more times the bruise might finally show." Yoongi reached out and pet Dionysus, who had moved to Namjoon's lap after his eviction from Yoongi's. "Sorry, bud," he said to the cat.

"I think Dionysus is used to running from your random pains by now. I'm surprised he even risks sitting on your lap these days, Yoongs." Namjoon cuddled the cat, his arms wrapping around the feline.

Yoongi laughed at the cat's face. "Oh my god," he said between giggles, "he looks absolutely terrified, Joon."

The two laughed at the cat before Namjoon finally grabbed the television remote and started the k-drama. A calm silence settled between the two as the opening song began to play.

"You really need to call up that genie again, Yoongi. He already offered to take your wish back," Namjoon said quietly, breaking the stillness between the two.

"First of all," Yoongi said, "he wasn't a genie, he was a spirit I met in the graveyard. Second of all, I told him I'm keeping my wish. Did you see how much happier Jimin was after I did this? He stopped working himself to exhaustion because I'm the one who experiences his exhaustion."

Namjoon shook his head and pressed the pause button on the remote. "I just don't agree with it. I'll let you do what you want, Yoongi. I don't like seeing you in pain." Namjoon rested his head on Yoongi's shoulder.

Yoongi smiled. "You're the best, you know that? I don't say that enough."

"You don't say it much, but you show it. And you're the best, too."
