He was as beautiful as the prophecy had said.
The first time you'd met Seokjin had been two weeks ago. You had happened upon him, dancing by himself with his animal friends. You had stood, staring at this beautiful boy.
Then, as if on instinct, you had joined him. He hadn't shown the slightest bit of apprehension about the situation, just accepted that you were there. You had danced around the clearing, and in the short three hours you had been with him, you had fallen in love.
You had returned a week later to find the place deserted. You had searched the whole woods and found nothing but a little abandoned cottage. You had then returned to your castle downhearted.
Then, this morning, something had drawn you back to the little clearing, and you had met the fairies. You had immediately questioned them: Had they seen the young man Seokjin anywhere?
They had told you everything. How he had been given gifts at his christening, and how the evil fairy Maleficent had showed up at the party and had cursed him: on his 16th birthday, he would prick his finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel.
The original curse had been that he would die, but the last fairy to bless him had made the curse softer: that he would only fall asleep, and only true love's kiss would waken the sleeping prince.
When they said that, your mind began to race.
"Is this what happened?" You asked, and the fairies nodded, the blue one crying a little.
"We believe," the pink fairy said, "that you , princess (Y/N), are the one who will break the spell."
Your heart nearly stopped.
"Me?"
The fairies nodded.
"Now, (Y/N), there are a few things that stand in your way."
Your mouth went dry.
"Maleficent?"
They nodded solemnly.
"Yes. Maleficent, and the enchantment she put on the castle to keep people like you—" she pointed a finger at you, "—out of the castle."
You took a deep breath.
"What do I need to do?"
They nodded approvingly.
"Can you fight?" The pink fairy asked you.
You replied "Pretty well, yes."
She nodded.
"What weapons are you used to?"
You thought a minute.
"What will I be fighting?"
They shrugged. "Who knows."
You gritted your teeth. The amount of information was not to your liking, but you needed to save Seokjin.
"How about a sword and shield then."
The blue fairy waved her wand, and suddenly you were holding some of the best weapons you had ever held.
The sword was well balanced, the shield lightweight and sturdy. A scabbard appeared at your side. You slid the sword into the sheath and strapped the shield to your back.
"What else do I need to know?"
The pink fairy looked at the others, and they silently nodded.
"(Y/N)," she began, "Maleficent is not the true enemy."
Confused, you waited for her to elaborate.
The fairy sighed.
"The one with all black clothes and a hood is the true enemy."
Still confused, you nodded.
"Okay. Got it. Anything else?"
The green fairy came forward.
"The spell she cast on the castle is a sleeping spell. That means everyone in the castle is asleep. And, the enchantment is so strong, that everyone who steps into the castle feels drowsy."
You nodded.
"Okay. Try not to fall asleep, try not to die, find the sleeping prince, and wake him up. Piece of cake. Do you know where he is?"
The blue fairy stepped forward.
"He is in the tallest tower of the castle."
You nodded and forced a smile.
"Wish me luck," you said, probably looking as scared as you felt, which didn't help much. You mounted your horse, saluted, and rode off toward the castle.

When you got there, you spent an hour hacking your way through the enormous thorns that blocked your path. Then you spent another hour in the snoring castle, searching for the tallest tower, Maleficent, and the mysterious "enemy in black."
Maleficent struck in the most unexpected moment, as something totally unexpected. You were on the battlements, having taken a wrong turn. You sighed, staring out at the view. Then you felt a presence behind you.
You whirled just as the dragon lunged at you. Its teeth snapped shut exactly where you had been two seconds ago. You swung your sword at it, and it retreated, hissing.
"Hello, (Y/N)," it said in a scratchy female voice.
"Maleficent." You scowled, standing on the stone wall, sword and shield in hand, cape flapping in the wind. It would've been cool, aside from the fact that the dragon wanted you dead.
The dragon reared up on its hind legs, making it easily four times your height. Your heart sunk. How were you supposed to defeat that ? She took a deep breath, the inside of her mouth glowing a bright orange.
Just in time, you ducked behind your shield. A torrent of flame hit you, the shield deflecting all of it. You stood up, not a bit singed, and began to battle the dragon/enchantress Maleficent.
Blows flew back and forth, and the fight was quite equal, until you counted that she was a 25 foot dragon and you were 5’4. Then she had you trapped. You were at a corner, having lost your shield over the edge, and nothing but the sword.
She drew a deep breath, and you knew it was your last chance. You threw the sword. It spun through the air, and sank hilt-deep into the dragon's chest.
With a terrible screech, the dragon lost her balance, and fell backwards. You watched as she hit the ground, exploding into a fireball on the ground. You winced, and ran off to find the prince.
You finally found the right staircase. Singed and sweaty and smelling like smoke, you ran up the stairs of the tower. You burst into the room, and your heart fluttered. There he was, lying on the bed, eyes closed, hands folded across his stomach, beautiful face tilted up.
You advanced slowly towards him, your leather boots noiseless on the stone floor. You sat down on the bed, taking his hand in one of yours. With the other, you smoothed his beautiful dark hair back.
His serene face was one you would remember forever. You stared at his plump, pink lips, a blush creeping up your cheeks. Then you cupped his face with your hand. You leaned in, and whispered "Wake up, Sleeping Beauty." And you kissed him.
You didn't dare hold it long, but that kiss was intoxicating. You pulled away, cheeks flaming. You watched his face, looking for any sign of movement other than the slow, steady rise and fall of his chest.
And then his eyelids fluttered open.
"Seokjin!" You gasped, a huge smile lighting up your face.
His beautiful dark eyes filled with love as he gazed up into your face.
"(Y/N)," he whispered, "It's you!"
You nodded, tears of relief welling up in your eyes.
"Yes, it's me!"
Then his face got hard.
"It's you," he said, a quaver of fear in his voice. You stared at him. Had he gone mad? Then you realized he wasn't talking to you, but something behind you.
A cold feeling prickled the hairs on the back of your neck. You turned, and saw what Seokjin was seeing. A woman in all black, with a dark hood. Just as the fairies had mentioned.
You slowly moved to shield Seokjin from her.
"What do you want?" You asked.
She scowled.
"You thwarted my plan. I want revenge."
You swallowed hard.
"What plan?"
"My plan to take over the kingdom."
Seokjin made a small squeaking sound.
"My parents! What have you done with them?"
She gave you a withering look before turning to look at him..
"They are still under the effects of the spell, but, since the spell had been broken, they will soon wake up. Unless..."
You felt sick. You could almost feel her brain coming up with an even more twisted scheme. She tapped her finger on his invisible cheek. "Unless, I could just recurse you. Yes, I'll do that."
" RUN! " You screamed at Seokjin, and dove at the woman as she pointed at him. He rolled off the bed and hit the floor running. You were in an all out fight with the witch. Nails, fists, feet. Everything.
You were getting the upper hand when she suddenly pulled out a silver knife. You tried to get away, but she was quick. She lunged at your face with it. Your reflexes saved you from probable death. The knife slit the skin on your cheek.
You screamed, and staggered back, holding your hand to your bleeding cheek. She lunged after you, and tripped you. You fell to the ground, whacking your head on the stones. Your head spinning, you couldn't concentrate.
Then you heard "Pity you have to die. You're a good fighter."
You stared up at her as she readied the knife.
Then something went thunk !
The witch crumpled. You saw Seokjin behind her, a thick piece of wood in his hands. He dropped it and rushed to your side.
Your world was spinning, darkening. He held your body in his arms, pleading “Stay awake, (Y/N)! Please!”
And then you fainted.

When you woke up, you were surrounded with people. You were on a bed, still dirty from both of your fights. You stared up into the unfamiliar faces, then sat up immediately.
"Where is Seokjin?" You demanded.
A murmur went up, and in two seconds flat, he had burst through the crowd, tackling you in a hug.
"Oh (Y/N)! I was so worried!" He cried.
You hugged him tightly, running your fingers through his hair. The servants shuffled off, blushing and murmuring "We'll leave you two alone."
Seokjin pulled away, and you sat up.
"What happened to the witch?" You cried.
"She got away," he said.
He touched the dried blood on your cheek, and the cut that she had given you. It would be a scar you would have forever.
"Oh (Y/N), I'm so sorry. If only I hadn't run away—"
You silenced him with a finger on his lips. He stared down at it, a slight blush creeping over his face.
"I'm glad that you ran, or we wouldn't be alive right now," you said.
Seokjin put his hands on your face.
"I love you, (Y/N)."
You stared up into his face, so in love you could hardly speak.
"Seokjin," you whispered, "I love you too."
He leaned in slowly, closing his eyes. And he kissed you.
You married Seokjin during the week after the spell was broken. You settled into the routine of palace life. The sword and shield you had used were saved as a tribute to your bravery and love.
Your undying love for Seokjin.
