Work Text:

Tae had been avoiding him for the better part of the day and it was getting on Yoongi’s nerves. He had three things he wanted to tell him and like six new things to show him on his phone and this jumble of noise in his head that he knew Tae could help him unravel.

But instead of next to him like always, Taehyung had actually turned and walked the other direction. Away from him.

What the actual hell.

Yoongi follow him because this was ridiculous.

He found Tae sitting in one of their seldom used practice rooms, picking at the frayed edges of an unraveling hem on his shirt.

He let the door fall shut with a heavy sound behind him and Taehyung didn’t even raise his chin off his knees, just lifted his eyes towards Yoongi and away.

Okay.

Yoongi sat down directly in front of him and crossed his legs. He wanted to reach out and take Tae’s hands in his, but Tae felt like he had a forcefield around him and Yoongi didn’t want to get burned.

“Okay so.” He sighed. Might as well just say it. “What the hell, Taehyung?”

“Nothing.”

“Taehyungie.”

“It’s stupid.”

Tae would not meet his eyes even though he ducked all the way down to try. He braved the forcefield and ran his index finger down the back of Tae’s hand.

“What did we say?”

Tae almost rolled his eyes, but he was trying to hide a smile so Yoongi was back to winning.

“Nothing in this space is stupid or weird,” Taehyung recited like he’d done, like they’d both done so many times before.

“You didn’t make the space, though.” Yoongi was tracing shapes on Tae’s hand now.

Taehyung full out rolled his eyes that time.

“Okay fine.” He grabbed both of Yoongi’s hands and made a box, then threaded their fingers together. “Nothing in this space is stupid or weird.”

“Good. Now tell hyung what’s going on.”

“It’s just. You changed your studio password and you gave it to Jungkook and you didn’t even tell me and I couldn’t get in. Then I found out you were in there with Hoseok hyung all day and then you went out with him and Namjoon hyung and you. I wanted to be there when you came back.” Tae seemed to run out of steam and slumped back.

Yoongi did not expect this…this entire flood of Taehyung’s feelings. He had missed him most of the day, too, but he had thought Tae was avoiding him. They were both way too dumb sometimes.

It was why they had sat down not too far off from how they were now, and concocted their safe space where nothing they said was weird or stupid or would get judged by the other person. It had worked when they used it. Tae had been the one that needed it more than him, but Yoongi made sure to always try to use it as much as Tae so he didn’t feel like he was alone in this.

“I’m sorry I haven’t seen you much today.” He swung their hands out to the side and leaned over Tae’s knees to kiss him. Just a small thing. Let Tae know they were both still there.

“I have tons of stuff to tell you. And honestly, I thought you were avoiding me.”

Tae rested their hands on his knees and watched his thumbs wrinkle Yoongi’s skin.

He wasn’t looking at Yoongi when he said, “Maybe.”

“Why didn’t you come with Jimin?”

This time when Yoongi bent to catch Tae’s eyes, he looked back at him.

“I don’t know. It seemed like he needed more help and like it was serious and I didn’t want to hear you talk about how much you like his voice. Maybe. I don’t.” He stopped with a huff.

Yoongi let go of one of Tae’s hands to run his fingers through Tae’s hair. “Taehyungie? Were you? Jealous?”

Tae bounced his leg and pouted. He tried to get out of Yoongi’s hold, but Yoongi wouldn’t let him go.

“You said safe space nothing weird, Yoongi!”

“It’s not weird, baby. I just wasn’t expecting it.” He tugged Taehyung into him so he could hug him. “You’re usually not jealous of our friends.”

“I know, hyung.” Tae buried his face in the crook of Yoongi’s neck, and Yoongi thought he could happily stay here for the rest of forever. “I just really wanted you to myself today.”

Yoongi wiggled his fingers under Tae’s shirt, which he’s pretty sure is his shirt now that he looked at it, “I’m all yours. Always.”

“Why didn’t I get the password then?” Tae mumbled into Yoongi’s skin. Yoongi grinned. He knew that tone of voice. Tae was over his tiny bout of insecurity.

“Why do you need it? Aren’t you always with me anyway?”

Tae just laughed.
