EDIT 3: Removed from the series until a certain fic is nearing its conclusion. To anyone that's been here day one, I am so sorry for spoiling you; I wasn't even sure if I was gonna go ahead and make this A Thing, but, here we are. To all the new comers, don't read this first. Or do. It's gonna be a long road and I wouldn't want to start it without something to look forward to, too.

Work Text:

Deku had barely made it through the door before collapsing onto the floor in a heap, the door automatically closing shut behind him, coaxing the rest of his body into the apartment with an unceremonious click.  Back to back to back overtime at work rendered him less than a husk of his former self; it was good to be home, but maybe he’d just lay here for awhile.

“Oh!”  cried a voice from the kitchen, footsteps quickly pattering over to him as he felt a hand on his shoulder, followed by his body going weightless, “Come on, I JUST cleaned there.”

“Wha- HEY, quit it!!”  Deku flailed around helplessly as a pink hue wrapped around his body, the smirking brunette before him reveling in her mischief.  “Babe, really!!”

“Don’t you ‘babe’ me, c’mon, on your feet.” She put her hands together, whispering under her breath as he felt himself begin to crash down to the floor.  With about much grace as he could muster, he managed to right himself before the unrelenting pull of gravity could smash him face-first back onto the floor of their apartment.  Before he could dust himself off, he felt the girl before him nearly knock him off his feet, her arms wrapping around him as she lunged at him gleefully. With a gleam in her eye, and a smile, that damn smile, one that struck him down without mercy as it pierced his heart with its warmth every time she wielded it, she looked up at him.  “Welcome home.”

Deku felt the life come back into him, wrapping his arms around her in kind and leaning down to kiss her forehead, before resting his head atop hers, running his fingers through her hair as she closed her eyes in contentment.

“It’s good to be home.”  he said softly, letting his eyes rest and taking a deep, satisfied sigh.  There the pair stood, Deku’s hand running through and gently mussing up the girl’s hair, seemingly to her delight as she nestled her head against his chest.  Ochako’s eyes flitted back open after some time, her gaze trailing up his neck, across his chiseled chin, and to his lips, curved in that same smile she found herself falling for over and over again.  That gentle, reassuring smile, that told her everything was going to be okay, before she came back to her senses, pouting at him.

"I was worried about you, you jerk." Deku chuckled.

"It wasn't THAT bad...how's work been for you?"

"I could ask YOU the same question...but it's been uneventful, as usual.  Same ridiculous clients, different day."  She shifted herself away, to his chagrin, before staring him down intently, making him peep in surprise, his eyes darting about.  After all these years, that same, scared shitless geek seeped through in moments like this, juxtaposed by the man that stood before her.  His suit and tie belied his true physique at first glance, but the tautness of his suit jacket gave hints of what hid underneath.  With an impish grin, she ran her fingers up his tie, methodically dragging him down to her level, his face now bright red, her gaze locked on his lips as she felt her eyelids grow heavier and heavier.

TWEEEEEEEEE

Their tea kettle sounded its alarm with an incessant whistle, making her whip her head back towards the kitchen.

“Ah jeez!” She relinquished her grip on the now flustered wreck of a man, dashing over to the kitchen and turning off the stove, opening the lone pot atop of it to check on its contents, closing it back up in relief.  “We really should get the timer fixed, boiling water isn’t really that-” she paused mid-sentence, nearly losing it seeing the grown man by their doorway trembling like a leaf, face still flushed crimson.  She wished that wasn’t so easy to do, sometimes, but it was always a good giggle.

“That wasn’t fair...”  He muttered under his breath, taking off his jacket and hanging it up on the coat rack before trouncing up to her in a huff, making her seize up this time. He’d grown, and that wasn’t fair.  They used to be almost eye to eye, but now?  She had to crane her neck up, just to look at him.  Not that she minded, in moments like this, Deku towering before her looking full of determination.

"Whatcha gonna do about it, neeeeerd?" Ochako sneered in a singsong tone, only to have Deku wrap his hand behind her neck; he grated against it gently with his nails, sending shivers down her spine, threatening to blow her act apart right there and then.

"I dunno...maaaaybe..." Deku snaked his hand to her face and down towards her chin, gently directing her gaze up at him with no more than the guidance of a finger, making her heart jump right into her throat.  A wry smile creeping across his face, he slowly leaned down, her heart doing absolute calisthenics as the seconds seemed to drag into minutes and hours, his face coming closer and closer to hers as she slowly shut her eyes in preparation, instinctively getting on her tiptoes as she felt another hand wrap behind her back, pulling her flush to his body.  This, this she’d never tire of.

Patiently, she waited.  And waited.

And waited.

And waited.

No, it wasn’t her imagination, this was taking way, way longer than it needed to.  Slowly opening one eye, she nearly doubled over trying to contain her laughter.  Deku, making his trademark facial impression of All Might, mere inches from her face, left her in stitches.  She couldn’t breathe, as Deku too joined in on the laughter, their ugly guffaws and chortles ringing out through the apartment, the pair struggling to keep one another upright as their giggles slowly began to subside and their gazes locked once more, Ochako reaching up to wipe the tears from her eyes.

“Now, where were we?” Deku said softly, leaning his head down once more, stroking her cheek.

“Something something just KISS me already something something…” she whispered indignantly, her eyes flitting shut as the distance closed between the two.  But with the swiftness of a swallow, Deku went high, gently pecking her nose and rustling her hair, to the absolute disdain of the brunette, relinquishing his grip on her and darting off to the bedroom.  “YOU-!!”

“NOW we’re even!  Don’t let it burn~!” said the runaway man, Ochako beginning to give chase, but stopping short, remembering the contents of the pot on the stove.  That dastardly little schemer…

Before long, Deku popped back out of the bedroom, dressed in a flimsy All Might T-shirt and gym shorts, waltzing up to the girl in the kitchen, who, seemingly, ignored his presence.

“Need any help?”

“I dunno, there might be some veggies to chop up, if you don’t run away from them.” she said in a huff, puffing out her chest as she tended to the pan before her, expertly tossing its contents up in the air over and over.

“Me?  Run?” he grabbed the cutting board from the rack and laid the veggies out neatly, before walking up behind her and gently kissing her ear, making her freeze.  “Only if you say so.” He returned his attention to the vegetables before him before Ochako resumed tending to the pan, grumbling under her breath as her cheeks remained beet red.

“Just be careful, jerk…” she said softly, placing the pan back down and adjusting the heat, as Deku deftly chopped up the veggies before him, the knife a blur on the chopping board.  “You’re gonna cut yourself if you go that fast, slow down!” she chastised.

“What, and let the lessons you gave me go to waste?  Nonsense!” he lamented, dicing up the rest of the veggies before him, before taking the board over and swiping its contents into the pan.  She shook her head in disbelief, Deku mischievously sticking his tongue out to her as he put the board in the sink.

“Go set the table, dork.” She stuck out her tongue back, a small smile on her face as she turned back to the pan, the scent of fresh herbs, spices, and onion filling the apartment.  Deku meandered about in the background, fiddling with plates and cutlery at the table.  Soon enough, it was ready; she bought the pan off the stove and to the countertop, grabbing a large spoon and scooping out the contents of their rice cooker and placing it in the bowls so neatly prepared for her, pouring out the contents of the pan on the rice bowls one after the other.

“It smells great, Ochako.” The sincerity in his voice was overpowering, her lover walking back up to her to grab a bowl.

“Yeah, sure.” she said in a huff, brushing past him with her bowl in-hand playfully, before feeling a hand grasp her wrist,  “...You’re gonna make me drop it.” she protested meekly, feeling her heart skip all the beats.

“I’d catch it.” Deku spun her around to face him, that same damnable smile on his face, as he set his food on the counter top behind him.

“The words of a deceiver!” she decried dramatically, turning her nose up to him haughtily.

“Me?  Scheme?  Not for this.”  He leaned downwards, catching her entirely off guard as she felt his soft lips caress her cheek, surprised that he didn’t recoil from the amount heat emanating from them.  That was about as much as she could bear. With her heart beating out of her chest, she felt his arm wrap behind her back once more, his fingers dragging themselves along its length agonizingly slowly, her hero pulling her in flush with his body once more.  She stared up at him helplessly, standing on her tiptoes and sporting a starstruck gaze on her face that she didn’t bother hiding, peering into those brilliant green eyes before her.

“Please?” she mewled, a bashful smile shooting across Deku’s face instantaneously, shattering his charade.

“Jeez, you didn’t have to ask like that …” Ochako didn’t get a chance to further revel in her instant destruction of her man.  Slowly, but surely, he closed the gap, their lips pressing against one another’s softly, Ochako feeling her mind go blank.  She was home.

Her hand traveled up to the back of his neck, mindlessly gripping it and using it to drag him even closer to her, with no intent of letting him go as they stood in their embrace, a whole week’s worth of pent-up passion being exchanged between the two of them.  With every time his fingers ran a lap up and down her back and her flank as they kissed, she felt more and more of her rational thought slip away.

God, she missed him.

She missed this .

And after every pause she took to catch her breath, she dove right back in to let him know, to show him firsthand.  With every time he pulled away to catch his own breath, she pulled herself back in, giving him no quarter.  He was HER’S now.

So intent was she in her pursuits, that she entirely forgot about the contents held in her free hand, a deafening crash of porcelain shattering the moment and snapping the both of them back to reality, warm rice and stir-fry smattering all over her feet.

“Oh for GOD'S SAKE...” she lamented loudly, her foot recoiling upwards; Deku sprang into action and grabbed a towel from the stove, handing it to her as he grabbed another towel and began to wipe up the mess on the floor.

“Well, you did warn me…” he said with a chuckle, carefully scooping the smashed bits of bowl and spilled dinner into a pile and onto the towel, tossing the contents in the trash before going back for a second sweep.

“Well yeah, but…” she couldn’t finish her sentence as she cleaned herself up, sitting down at the table and dejectedly putting her head in-between her hands.  “I knew I should’ve made more…” Deku just about got done cleaning the hazard off the floor, placing the towel in the sink and gingerly feeling out the area of the accident with one foot, checking for any small shards he may have missed.

“It’s fine!!” he reassured, before grabbing his bowl and walking back to the table.  He sat down across from her, scooting the bowl over towards her, to her dismay.

“What-  No, Izuku, you’ve been working all day, I can’t-”

“Hey, it’s okay!  It’s my fault.” With an earnest smile, he brought out his phone and pulled out a takeout app, while Ochako stared down at her bowl of food sadly before digging in, eating slowly.  “ I should’ve caught it, I’m sorry.”

“You didn’t even get to taste it…” She dug in a spoonful and held it out across the table obdurately, pouting at Deku.  “And as payment for this, I want okonomiyaki, since you’re ordering.”

“You drive a hard bargain, but…” He fiddled with his phone briefly, and with a small ding, the app thanked him for his purchase.  “There.  Are we even now?”

"Almost."  Ochako leaned over, gripping the table with her free arm, impatiently waving the spoon of food, “...My arm’s getting tired though.”

Deku laughed, leaning over and bridging the gap, happily scooping up the spoon’s contents with his mouth; it took a moment, before his eyes went wide and he banged his fist on the table, quickly gulping down his spoonful as he began fumbling around for the words to speak.

“You need to show me how to make this!!” he cried, his eyes tearing up, “You used more garlic this time, and the lemon specks and parsley mesh so well together it’s absurd, not to mention that the broth is heavenly and the heat is spot on, there’s the PERFECT amount of peppers and-” and as he gushed on and on and on about her cooking, in his trademark ramble-mouth fashion, she gazed on at him, a content smile on her face as the remaining tinges of sunlight disappeared behind the buildings and night began to fall.
