Work Text:
Shinsou lands on the flat roof of a tall building then perches himself on one of the edges, his forearms resting on his thighs as he looks down onto the shorter building across the street. This is where someone with a conscious and subconscious separation quirk is being held, the villains inside and guarding the building using the person’s quirk to their advantage.
“Shinsou, do we need to go grocery shopping on our way home?”
Shinsou blinks before touching his earpiece with his index and middle fingers, “Not sure. What’s for dinner?”
“I don’t know,” Midoriya says as he peeps around the corner, “I might not want to cook after this.”
“Same,” Shinsou pouts.
“Both of you shut the fuck up and stop talking about married couple shit on the hero line,” Bakugou spat, “you two aren’t even officially married yet!”
“Oh boy,” Midoriya sighs as he shakes his head, “here we go again.”
Shinsou smirks smugly, “Bakugou, you shut the fuck up. The only thing I can picture you marrying is your grenade gauntlet.”
Bakugou, “Bitch please, I can marry whoever I want! I could even get Deku if I wanted.”
“Don’t bring me into this,” Midoriya shouts while Kirishima laughs beside him, “Do not bring me into this!”
Shinsou, “Bitch, Midoriya does not want you. Besides, I’d knock you on your ass before you could make a move.”
Bakugou, “Is that a fucking challenge?”
Shinsou, “Bitch, you’re all talk and no bark. Shove a grenade up your ass and pull the trigger.”
Bakugou, “Bitch-.”
Shinsou, “Bitch-.”
Bakugou, “Bitch-!”
“Can you two please,” Iida shouts, “we have a mission to do! Please stop arguing through the hero line!”
“I can’t believe I said yes,” Midoriya mumbles.
“Time to move,” Jirou says through chuckles after taking her headphone jacks out the wall, “they just left the room the hostage is in.”
“Bag’em and tag’em,” Kirishima says before hardening, sneaking around the corner with Midoriya. The two were able to creep into the building will Bakugou and Shinsou argued, looking around before going to the room.
“W-who are you,” the young man asks, fear in his voice.
“Kind of stupid how they didn’t put any cameras in here,” Kirishima comments, checking for some anyway. Midoriya squats in front of the middle school student, “We’re here to help you,” he says before breaking the ropes around the boy’s arms with ease, “Here, wear these.”
“What are…?”
“Quirk canceling gloves,” Kirishima explains, “invented by Hatsume Mei herself.”
“You can touch people without your quirk activating,” Midoriya says before helping the boy stand, “It’s time for us to leave before we’re caught.”
“Shit,” Bakugou spat, “they know you two are in there!”
“Smashing through them could collapse the building,” Midoriya mumbles as he gets in his fighting stance, “but that might be our only option.”
“Try and hold your position until we’re able to get in,” Iida says, “we’re about to fight the guards outside. Remember to keep the hostage safe!”
It’s then the front wall of the room gets blown to bits, Kirishima standing in front of Midoriya while he holds the middle school student close to protect his eyes and mouth from the dust and rubble. After the dust settles, Red Riot softens everything, but his arms.
“What the fuck is going on in there,” Bakugou asks.
“It was one of the walls,” Jirou explains, “I think the villains blew it up.”
“We’ve got company,” he says as he rubs his forearms together like knives, “and I don’t think they like the living room too much.”
“Ha,” Jirou laughs, “you tried to make a joke.”
“Earphone Jack,” Iida says as he flips back, “can you give me an exact number of how many men are in the building?”
She pushes her lips out to the side, plugging one jack into the wall while the other connects to a device on her forearm (another invention of Hatsume Mei). The screen of the device lights up a greenish color with yellow outlines of people, “That’s a lot of fucking people,” she mumbles before speaking out loud, “You guys better speed it up! Red Riot and Deku are practically surrounded!”
“Shit,” Shinsou spat, using his scarf to pull himself onto the roof of the building. He managed to get control of two villains, they now fighting for him.
“Didn’t want to use this because it always bugs out my voice alternator,” he sighs, “but I’ve got no choice.”
He presses a button on the side of his voice alternator, turning a large knob on the side. Before he could ask a question, everyone stops moving when the sounds of a wall breaking is heard. Kirishima just ran through the wall with Midoriya close behind him, the hostage on the Symbol of Peace’s back.
Midoriya hurries towards Jiro the lets the middle school student off his back, “Stay with Earphone Jack,” he says before hurrying back to the fight.
~
The battle was long and tiring, but the heroes won.
“We’ll take the villains off your hands now,” the police chief says as police officers work on arresting people in the background.
“How’s the boy?”
Midoriya, “He’s a bit shaken up, but I think he’ll be fine from here on out.”
“Good, ah, here.”
Midoriya blinks as he accepts the brochure, “What’s this for?”
“It’s a small thank you present for helping us solve this without the boy getting hurt. Have fun.”
The pro hero gets ready to say something, but stops when the sounds of something crumbling could be heard, everyone looking to the building. The roof’s about to collapse downward. Investigators are still in there.
“Fuck,” Midoriya chants as he hurries inside, sliding to a stop then catching the roof as all the walls crumble and he activates a bit of his quirk.
“All Might made this look so much easier,” he grunts, falling on one knee.
“Got to,” he slowly starts to activate more of One for All, “stand up.”
“Everyone, get from under the roof,” Bakugou shouts as Midoriya carefully stands up.
“What am I going to do with this,” Midoriya huffs, Shinsou hurrying towards him.
“You alright, hun?”
Midoriya nods with a hum, “I...think I’ll be holding this for a while though.”
~
Bakugou, Kirishima, Jirou, Iida, Shinsou, and Midoriya look to the onsen hotel in front of them. All six of them are dressed in their civilian clothing with a bookbag on their back.
The pro heroes look at one another before walking into the long building.
~
“Ha,” Bakugou and Shinsou question as they glare at each other, Ground Zero on one side of the table while Control’s on the other. Everyone got changed out of their clothes and into a yukata, Jirou and Ashido trying not to laugh. They found out the acid heroine was here a few minutes ago.
“Now, now,” Kirishima says with a nervous smile, “the both of you relax.”
“I still can’t believe I said yes,” Midoriya says to Iida, the taller pinching the bridge of his nose as he lets out a long sigh.
Shinsou smirks, “What lies,” he scoffs, “you couldn’t drink hot sauce and I mean just hot sauce.”
Bakugou, “And you’re saying you can, pussy boy?”
Shinsou, “We can make a bet right here, right now.”
“Enough,” Midoriya whines as he lightly pushes Shinsou, “you two argue over the littlest of things! We’re here to relax remember!”
“Uno,” Jiro says before lifting up a deck of cards, “you two can settle your difference with a game of Uno.”
“I don’t know if that’ll work,” Ashido smirks slyly, “those two have been like this since the Sport’s Festival.”
“It’s better than nothing,” Iida states, Kirishima nodding in agreement.
~
After eating, the group moved to Midoriya and Shinsou’s room to watch Bakugou and the cat lover play a few rounds of Uno.
Ashido and Jirou are rolling on the floor, Kirishima laughing on his back while Iida and Midoriya try not to laugh. They’ve only just started the game and neither of them could put down a card. The color’s green.
“Where the fuck are all the green cards,” Bakugou snarls as he plucks another card.
“That’s a good question,” Shinsou huffs as he plucks, grinning as he puts down the card in his hands. He then puts down two more cards that match it, Bakugou holding in a breath of relief before putting down a card.
~
This is intense, too intense. Both had Uno, both had to pluck. They’re now both back with only one card in their hand, everyone else watching intensely. What was going to happen next? Does Bakugou have to pluck?
Bakugou raises his eyebrow cockily as he puts his card down, “Out,” he says, the card a pluck four.
“Son of a bitch,” Shinsou grunts, throwing his card into the pile. He had a pluck four as well.
“I honestly had no idea who was going to win,” Ashido says before standing up, “Well, I’m going back to my room!”
“Same here,” Jirou says. Kirishima, “Come on, Bakugou. Stop gloating.”
“I’m not gloating,” Ground Zero states. If his nose could grow it would’ve. Shinsou sneers at him, “I want a rematch.”
“I’ll gladly beat you sorry ass any hour of the day,” Bakugou states as Kirishima rolls his eyes, dragging the blonde out the room.
“Control your fiance,” Iida says to Midoriya before standing up, “I’ll see you two later.”
It’s now just Shinsou and Midoriya in their room, Deku moving to sit next to Control. He lays his head on his shoulder, “So,” he moves his eyes to look up at the taller, “do you want to start planning for our wedding, Hitoshi?”
“Not yet,” Shinsou sighs as he lays back, “I want to relax a bit more before then. Planning a wedding can be stressful.”
Midoriya hums in agreement, laying next to his lover.
Shinsou, “Your arms are probably sore from yesterday.”
Midoriya, “Nothing I haven’t felt before.”
The taller hums then pulls his finance on top of him, rubbing the shorter’s back lovingly. They both needed this, some time to themselves. Though they live together, hero work prevents them from getting quality time like this. Holding on to each other, being alone together. Getting moments like these were easier for the two in high school and when they were sidekicks.
Midoriya can feel the movement of Shinsou’s chest as he breathes, the shorter closing his eyes.
“It’s late in the afternoon,” Shinsou says as he presses his eyelids together, “you sure you want to fall asleep?”
“I’m tired,” Midoriya mumbles, “besides, everyone else is probably knocked out by now.”
Which was true. As soon as everyone got back to their rooms, they collapsed on their futons and fell asleep. Even Iida, who usually looked like he was never tired, was asleep in his room.
Shinsou hums, “Let’s move to the futons then. Izuku?”
The response he got was a soft snore, the taller softly chuckling before sitting up. He carefully maneuvers Midoriya off his chest then picks him up, bridal style. He carries his lover across the room then slowly lays him on one of the beds, dragging the other one closer before laying down. He pulls Midoriya closer to him then relaxes, slowly closing his eyes. He wanted to enjoy these moments of rest and being with his fiance while they’re here. After they leave this onsen hotel, it’ll be right back to hero work with a mix of wedding plans.
