Work Text:
Ah, shit. Here we go again.
Jun had been ordered by the classroom teacher to take the homework of the day to the teachers room during lunch. Which sucked. Lunch was a sacred hour in which he used to eat and sleep until the afternoon classes. With training taking up all of his time outside of classes, it was almost impossible to have time to relax a little, so lunch was an important time okay.
Of course, his classroom teacher didn't give a shit about that, and Jun had to live with it.
In addition, he also had to live with the fact that the teachers room was at the end of the third floor hall where the third-year classrooms were, and to get there you had to climb a kinda secret staircase that couldn’t be seen that easy, which led to a side wing of the building, away from the bustle of the students and where some clubs related to literature and mangas where. It wasn’t the busiest school area during class time, but in the afternoons it had a bit more life with the students attending the clubs located in that hallway.
But. When it wasn't a busy hallway, however, it meant seeing him whenever he went up those stairs.
Isashiki Jun prided himself on his strong self and in his personality that didn’t allow anyone to walk over him. Jun knew that he had a way of being a little intense and noisy, but he was proud of how much in his years at Seidou he had grown to become a man. Jun was strong.
Therefore, Rin Takigawa’s existence, always sleeping on those stairs on the third floor when he was only a second-year student, was extremely annoying.
Jun climbed loudly the remaining steps until the boy's body hindered his passage. He was going to yell at him until he woke him up and step aside so the boy rolled down the stairs. But then he paid a little more attention at him and his heart clenched inside his chest.
Rin had, again, daminit, a bruise on one of his cheeks and the collar of his shirt was wrinkled in a way that could not be because of not having ironed his uniform before going to class. Even one of his legs was covered with dirt and dust, dirtying his always perfect pants.
Jun was strong. Very strong. But... Rin since his first year as a manager of the baseball club, had made him question how strong he really was.
The boy who laid at the end of the stairs, a place in fact dangerous because of the risk of actually rolling down the stairs, was using his arms as a pillow and his brown curls covered almost his entire face except for his injured cheek. His facial features had always been very soft and delicate, so much that the mere idea of wanting to hurt him sounded alien in Jun's head.
However, Jun knew that the idea of harming Rin was not so crazy in other people's heads. More specifically, in the heads of other boys who were Neanderthal monkeys who didn’t know the meaning of the word respect. And much more specifically, his classmates who belonged to the football club.
Rin Takigawa since his first year had shown himself as a very brave boy. Jun still remembers when the boy introduced himself as part of the managers leaving all team members surprised. Usually, the boys always wanted to join the team instead of being managers, but some male help among the managers had come perfect. Everything was wonderful and fun.
Until that day.
Rin had missed the first game of the season, and being in charge of transporting lunch, everyone had to spent money from their pockets to buy some food after a game that had left them exhausted. The next day when he showed up for training, many third-year students as well as second-year students were ready to shout at him a couple of things, but everyone had been silented just by seeing him.
The boy had one of his arms bandaged, a few characteristic curlers of his forehead had disappeared leaving a slick cut, his face was also full of cuts, and his cheek was purple with a few shades of green. Many guessed that under his gym uniform there should be a few more bruises.
The view had been so chaotic that the anger of the previous day had turned into anger towards the one who had hurt him that way.
"I'm really, really so sorry, Sir." Rin had said in a serious and loud voice to the coach and Rei, who were just as worried as the rest of the team. “My boyfriend went to see me before the game and some roommates saw us.” Rin said without breaking at any time. His gaze was so firm and fixed on the coach, as if he had been challenging the feared coach to tell him something about the big confession he had just made. “As you can guess, Sir, with my boyfriend we had to be a little more careful. I'm really sorry I didn't anticipate this inconvenience so the girls could take the food. ”
Rei was the first one to react.
“Rin-kun, don't worry about not being able to do your job, it was clearly a sad situation, honey. Did you go to a hospital? ”
And as simple as that, Rin focused on informing Rei that he had already did all the medical requirements to heal his wounds. The coach had ordered the freshmen to start running, but not before asking Rin if those who beat him belonged to some club.
Apparently, the jerks were from the football club and the coach got them suspended from their activities for the behavior so primitive they had. After that, Rin seemed to radiate light. As if the boy still couldn't believe that the fierce coach Kataoka Tesshin had been on his side and defended him. His bright personality did not stop being very present for a long time, because Rin also heard that Tanba, who was so damn shy, had silenced a few of his classmates who had been talking shit about the male manager of the baseball club.
Jun also, along with Yuuki, Miyauchi and Ryousuke had put a stop to those they heard whisper something bad about Rin.
But personally and particularly, it was always Jun who on the simplest occasions, always saw the soccer club's primates push Rin through the halls or shout shit at him. And therefore, it was always Jun who defended Rin the most.
The great thing about Rin is that the boy, despite not having so much musculature and being harassed by his sexuality, always faced his bullys with an attitude worthy of a whole man. Rin wasn’t shy, he was in fact quite outgoing and friendly, since he broke up with his boyfriend he was not so careful with his words, sometimes he was so direct that he could hurt you, and he liked baseball, although his body did not let him practice it.
Somehow, Jun couldn't be so strong when it came to this boy, and that was irritating.
Rin moved one of his legs deconcentrating Jun for a few moments, and suddenly, he slowly opened his eyes.
"Are you going to stare at me until the break is over, Jun-san?" Rin asked.
Jun blinked for a moment before recomposing himself. Had he stared at him? He hadn't even noticed.
"You don't look so good."
"Jun-san, meanie!" The boy pouted, still lying on the floor at the end of the stairs. "I always look good."
"Not today." Jun remarked, suddenly the weight of his classmates' notebooks reminding him why he was there from the beginning. "I'm gonna leave this in the teacher's room and when I came back I want you to tell me who it was. I’ll kill them."
"Not today? Jun-san, that hurts.” The boy straightened up, sitting on his legs, and dramatically held a hand to his chest. “I always try to look good so that Jun-san approves me. Although… you said "not today~" which means that other days I do look good, right?"
Jun started walking, ignoring him, and went to the other side of the stairs to climb the missing steps and to the corridor to the teachers room. After delivering what his teacher asked, he returned as fast as he could to where he had left Rin, and sighed calmly when he saw that the boy was still there. Sitting now against the wall and hugging his legs against his chest.
When Rin saw him, however, he smiled, a smile that did not reach his eyes, and slowly released his legs from a grip that seemed asphyxiating. Jun knelt in front of him and extended one of his hands to the boy's injured cheek. His fingers brushed the skin very gently. Skin which was boiling due to the punch it received, and his teeth screeched when Jun clenched his jaw.
Jun wasn’t a violent person, not when it wasn’t about baseball at least, but whenever he saw Rin in those conditions, a fire inside his chest caused him to want to kick the faces of those who had hurt him.
It was sad, too. How Rin had to live his day to day.
“Oi, oi , oi. From being about to hit the wall, your face totally changed to one that it's about to cry, Jun-san.” Rin said fast in a soft whisper. His voice was so masculine and melodic. Cute. “This was just a misunderstanding with a classmate of Miyuki-kun and Kuramochi-kun. Mochi invited me to eat lunch with them, but I couldn’t even enter the room because an idiot who was standing at the door pushed me. But don’t worry! Mochi and Miyuki-kun already took care of him.” Rin brought one of his hands to Jun's, which was still on his face and held it there. “Please don't be mad or sad for me, Jun-san. Think about your position in the team. You’re a very valuable member, the team can’t lose you just because you wanted to defend me from some assholes who share a single braincell.”
Jun brought his other hand to one of Rin's outstretched legs on the side of his body, and laid his hand on the boy's knee, where he squeezed a little. Jun had to take too many breaths to calm down. His blood was boiling in rage and he could only think that the jerks who hurt Rin every day didn't even deserve to breathe the same air as him.
Rin laid his free hand on the one Jun held on his knee, and returned the squeeze in an attempt to calm him down a bit. It gradually worked. Jun began to breathe normally, and his jaw was not as tight as before. Even his hand on Rin's cheek had begun to caress the boy's face in a poor attempt to heal the pain of his wound, which Jun was fucking sure was hurting like hell. But Jun trusted Rin, the boy always carried pills for muscular pain with him, which was another reason to kill any idiot who touched him, but at least Rin knew how to stand on his own.
"J-Jun-san." Rin let out a shaky breath. Jun looked into his eyes and nodded for him to continue. "If it's not crossing a line... could you please give me a hug?"
Jun's brain got quiet and his heart stopped for a few seconds. Rin always acted pretty confident and strong in front of the team, and although they knew that it was to hide all the damage he carried, he always seemed to be the strongest man Jun knew.
But the Rin in front of him right now was a very vulnerable and hurt one. A Rin that seemed on the verge of losing sanity after so much daily abuse.
Jun extended both of his arms and circled Rin's shoulders very delicately, moving Rin to where he was, and the boy change his position to sit on Jun's lap, who had now surrounded his body protectively against his. Jun moved them both with a little effort, but now his back was against the wall, and Rin was in his arms sitting on his thighs, which was too much but enough for his poor heart.
“I know the team accepts me. But, it’s so hard to go out there and be reminded all the time that not all people are as great as you. I don't want to be ungrateful, because I love how certain people don't bother me anymore, but they stopped doing it because you guys threatened them instead of stopping doing it for the simple fact that I am a human like them and it hurts so much. Why are they so cruel, Jun-san? I haven't done anything to them and yet.”
"The world is full of shit." Jun didn't know what else to say.
Rin sighed and nodded. "That's true."
Minutes passed in which both of them were silent. Jun had Rin protectively against his chest, and Rin had his hands firm holding the older boy's shirt and he was also hiding his face in the gap between his neck and shoulder. Jun knew that being so close, Rin could hear his heart beating non-stop, but at that point, he really didn't care.
Then.
Suddenly and without any of them anticipating it, some laughter was heard at the end of the stairs, and three boys, second years Jun could deduce, began to walk the stairs, the three had books on their hands, so Jun supposed they were heading to the Teacher's room.
They weren't getting in the way, so Jun stood firm and his soft gaze directed at Rin, suddenly turned into his typical and menacing frown. Rin tried to separate in alarm, but Jun brought a hand to his hair and kept him there in the way they had been all that time.
When the boys saw them, they fell silent and walked slowly. Clearly by their looks, Jun could guess that they couldn't believe that such an important member of the baseball team was secretly in that position with the gay boy from class 2-A. Jun challenged them with his eyes and two of the kids got scared and walked away faster. The last one of the brats, however, smiled at both of them. That baffled Jun who stood firm. But the boy simply smiled even more sweetly and bowed a little before following his friends.
Huh? If Jun risked himself guessing, that boy seemed even happy. His smile had not been one of mockery, but respect.
Rin was frozen in his arms, but Jun stroking his curls relaxed him a little. Jun's good mood was suddenly back. The fact that there was someone in that school, besides the baseball team and a few girls, who respected Rin was something very positive.
The world was full of shit, but it also had its good side.
The kids came back from the teachers room, their arms empty of the books they had previously been carrying, and Jun was surprised again when that smiling boy lifted at both of them his thumb up before disappearing down the stairs next to his friends.
"Jun-san!" Rin squealed in a whisper as soon as the kids were out of sight. "That was risky!"
"Was it?" Jun asked. His mind still thinking about that boy who had so openly respected them.
"Of course it is!" Rin was upset. Rin was also very close to his body. “What if those guys say something about the misunderstanding they saw? Think a little about your position, Jun-san! ”
"Misunderstanding?" Jun asked, his mind too overwhelmed to fully process his words. Rin smelled so good this closely. "Was it really a misunderstanding, Rin?"
"Jun-san?!" Rin seemed really nervous and bewildered. "Please don’t do this to me…"
That brought Jun back a bit. Why had Rin again sounded so vulnerable?
"Is something wrong, Rin?"
"That is! It's exactly that.” The boy whined and again hid his face in Jun's neck. "Don't say my name like that, you hurt me."
" Ha?!" Jun said. "Sorry, am I making you feel uncomfortable?"
Rin broke away and looked into his eyes. He seemed about to cry.
"And you do it again, Jun-san." Rin said. Next, his fists made his hands weakly hit Jun's chest. "Stop!"
"I wouldn't be understanding what you- Ouch, that hurt!"
"Are you really that dumb, Jun-san?" Rin asked with annoyance and a really adorable pout.
Jun unconsciously smiled at him. Rin was so cute.
“Ugh! And you do it again! Is it really that little obvious that I like you, Jun-san? And not just as a friend or a senior!” Rin said. Then, he tilted his head and rested his forehead against Jun's chest. "I really like you, you know."
Jun, besides feeling like flying among the clouds, he also felt on the edge of a cliff.
Things could change very drastically in his life according to the decision he takes right here. It was a difficult decision how to act next, but Rin's body heat against his own was relaxing and made him feel grounded, despite that his head was in the stratosphere. Jun knew that he had liked Rin for more than a year, but coming to the realization that it was not simply a fantasy, and that even his feelings were reciprocated, it was quite overwhelming.
"Let’s date." Jun said firmly after a moment.
"Huh?!" Rin raised his head, obvious surprise in every trace of his pretty face.
Jun took advantage of that movement to bring both of his hands to Rin's cheeks, being very careful with the one that was hurt, and after holding it firmly in place, he approached his face to Rin's and kissed his lips very softly.
Rin reacted by wrapping his arms around Jun's neck. The boy was tense and still surprised and he could feel it on his lips, but when Jun insisted on having more contact from his mouth, Rin finally melted against him. Their bodies were very close and the warm began to overwhelm them, making their mouths hungry on each other, as if that moment was only an illusion that in seconds would leave them both with expectations of much more. Jun wasn’t really experienced in this field, baseball was the only field he was experinced in, but he knew that Rin knew more or less ohow to act for that moment to continue a little more and he was grateful.
Rin stirred on his lap, and after moving one of his legs, he sat astride Jun's firm thighs. Seidou's batter moved his hands from the boy's cheeks and brought them to his hair where he massaged his scalp before pulling some curls. Rin closed his chest against his and tilted his face so that the kiss had more depth. Rin's lips tasted delicious and the friction of his thighs on him was a new level of pleasure with which Jun was not familiar. But one that was stimulating. Rin's hands were hugging his back and pressing hard on his shoulder blades which contracted against his curious fingers. Rin was not muscular, but he had the body of any man, and his waist was wonderful and tiny under Jun's demanding hands.
The heat began to be too much that Rin broke away from Jun's lips to breathe, but Jun hadn't had enough yet, so his lips moved to Rin's jaw where he kissed with his mouth wet and open, stealing from Rin a small whine. His hands were tight on the waist of the second year boy, the contact of Rin’s body against his chest was staring to arouse him.
Then the doorbell rang, frightening and taking them out of their little bubble.
Rin looked at him with wide eyes and very rosy cheeks. His lips were red and wet and his curls were a mess. Jun knew that his very self image was not that different from his, but he didn't give a shit, he had finally kissed Rin and hopefully, it wouldn't be the last time.
Jun smiled at him. Rin smiled back.
Everything will be fine. Now they had each other.
