Fuck John Stamos

Summary:

Cat always hated team buildings and drinking games. But maybe they are not that bad?

Notes:

Set some time in the good ol' 1st season when Lucy Lane was still in the picture and Cat had her doubts about Supergirl's identity.

Work Text:

Cat didn't know what possessed her to agree to this stupid idea of a corporate team building event for her closest subordinates. She attributed it to her moment of weakness or lapse in judgement but in no way would she admit that it was Baby Lane's annoying enthusiasm and Kara's puppy eyes that sealed the deal. As these events go they had a whole tiresome day of various annoying exercises and activities that were supposed to make them trust each other more and work better as a team. Cat scoffed at the thought but she had to admit that not all the activities were equally disgusting.

For example, they had to do an obstacle course in pairs. She was paired with Kara. When they had to cross a rope bridge between two high trees, Cat flat out refused to do it. Her assistant was so desperate to win that she offered to carry Cat over the bridge. It took the poor girl quite a lot of babbling and fumbling with her glasses and she was completely red by the end of her speech. Cat was so amused that unexpectedly for herself she agreed. Kara easily scooped Cat in her arms and held her against her chest . The swift movement made Cat reflexively cling to the girl's neck. She could swear she heard Kara's heart starting to beat faster. When they stepped on the bridge, and suddenly it felt like there was nothing but air beneath them, Cat closed her eyes and took a deep breath trying not to freak out. She inhaled Kara's smell and that is when all became clear to her. She knew that fresh smell of cheap but pleasant shampoo mixed with salty scent of ocean waves and almost unnoticeable trace of ozone. She also knew this strong and safe embrace and pleasantly muscled arms. Of course. She had some doubts before but now she knew for sure that her earnest assistant and her favorite superhero were one person. She smiled smugly and contentedly at the same time and snuggled closer into the warm embrace. So yes, not all the activities were totally disgusting.

The day ended with a few of them drinking and playing inane charade games in the Baby Lane's hotel room. Never in her life would Cat imagine drinking with a Lane, or James Olsen or even Kara for that matter, never mind that cardigan hobbit. But here they were seated around the room in different states of inebriation (Kara of course drank strictly coke being such a girl scout, or maybe it had something to do with her not being quite human). Lucy was probably the drunkest of them all because she finished her beer with one big gulp, raised the empty bottle and shouted excitedly, "Let's play fuck, marry, kill!" She then looked at Cat with challenge in her unsteady stare.

It's that challenge (and probably three glasses of bourbon) that made Cat puff her chest a bit and drawl, "Bring it on, Baby Lane." Cat Grant never shied away from a challenge issued by a Lane. She looked at the other participants. James glanced between Lucy and her with curiosity, the hobbit was smiling stupidly, and Kara stared uncomfortably at her drink, her ears very very red. How interesting.

Lucy put her empty bottle on the floor between all of them and exclaimed, "As it was my idea I'll go first." She spun the bottle and everyone looked at it intently as it slowed its rotation. Of course it had to point at Cat. Lucy was clearly ready for this turn of events because she smiled deviously and said in a very smug way, "Sooo, Cat, your choices are John Stamos, Supergirl, and Kara. Who would you fuck, marry or kill?"

There was deafening silence in the room. James and Winn (of course she knew the hobbit's name) sat with their mouths open. Lucy leaned forward in excitement and anticipation. Kara had got a mouthful of her drink and clearly forgot to swallow it in her astonishment. They are all such adorable morons.

Cat pretended to think a bit while tapping her finger on her lips and glanced sideways at Kara. The girl was looking at her finger as if hypnotized.

Cat enjoyed the tension for a moment longer before replying in an innocent tone, "Oh, that's easy. Fuck Supergirl, marry Kara and kill John Stamos."

Then two things happened at once. Lucy lost her balance and fell off her armchair and Kara choked on her coke and spit it all over Lucy in quite a spectacular fashion. Cat honestly thought these things only happened in movies.

Kara looked at her now fully red-faced and mumbled stupidly, "B..b..but why kill John Stamos?"

"Oh fuck John Stamos," grumbled Lucy from the floor.

Cat looked at the scene before her thoroughly satisfied. Fuck John Stamos, indeed.
