Work Text:
At first glance, Tsujimura Mizuki and Akutagawa Gin had nothing in common. Gin didn’t like attracting much attention, was quiet, and the way they expressed their gender was… well, fluid, just like their gender itself. Tsujimura, on the other hand, was shy, but liked the attention, and would accidentally attract it to herself; she was loud, also accidentally, and loved to express femininity — this time, not accidentally.
As different as two could be, it could be considered odd that they would fall in love with the same girl — and that this girl would reciprocate both of their feelings. Both of them loved how Higuchi Ichiyou would always rise after her fall, no matter how hard the latter was, in a process of rebirth, just like a phoenix. Both loved the way the girl nervously rambled about her day, and both would stare at her while holding her hand, completely interested in whatever she had to say — because every word was poetry if it came out of Higuchi’s mouth.
The idea was first introduced by Higuchi herself, to Gin. “It could be weird, but I think I’m into it,” she had spoken. As her lovers, both knew Higuchi was one for the overly passionate, and that not being considered normal wasn’t something that would stop her from doing anything. So, there Higuchi was, in the middle while her lovers got along — what was Gin doing Friday?
Higuchi thought both had so much in common, and little did she know that all their thoughts followed the same line: Gin observed that the way Tsujimura laughed and nervously rambled was delightfully similar to the way Higuchi did, while Mizuki noticed that Gin and Higuchi shared the habit of touching their hair when focused.
Dating Tsujimura and Gin, Higuchi liked her, she loved him, and the three of them could be the best kind of friends, couldn’t they? She already liked both, and it wouldn’t be hard for them to get along; they already could bond over their taste in women, after all!
And, perhaps, they could even
more
than the best kind of friends — it could be weird, but Higuchi was into it.
