Work Text:

There was a heavy rainfall as night soon fell, other shops were starting to close and people  were heading home. There came the sound of soft laughter from the inside of a small flat nearby.

And on this particular night, a young girl silently walked through the rain, clutching the strap of her messenger bag, her back hunched over as she went, finally arriving at the doorstep of that certain flat. She took a deep breath and knocked as hard as she could.

The door swung open and behind it was a smaller pink-haired girl, who lit up as soon as she saw her guest. “Oh, Gina! You finally decided to come by!” She greeted the other cheerily

“Yeah, yeah, I just need a place to stay for now. There’s some dastardly weather tonight.” Gina nonchalantly waves, moving her stringy hair out of her face. “So, Iris, could I… stay the night here?”

“Of course! Just come in and help yourself to some dinner if you haven’t had any! Made it myself, too!” Iris smiled and opened the door wider, stepping aside to let Gina through.

She mutters a small, “Thanks,” as she walks inside, her entire form drenched in water, dripping all over the wooden floor. She immediately took off her messenger bag and hung it from her shoulder, grumbling angrily as Iris shut the door.

“Oh, let me get you a towel, hold on for just a moment…” Iris starts before bolting off toward the main room over to who-knows-where. The laughter from before has died down a bit, and from where Gina was, she could hear some… familiar voices along with Iris’s.

2 that she’d really rather not remember.

She waited for a few moments, before hearing the rapid footsteps of boots against the floor. Iris came running back with a small towel and shoved it into her hands. “Here, you can dry up with this. I’ll prepare a plate for you in a bit!”

“But I’m not--” Gina starts before the other ran off, barely even giving her the chance to protest. She sighed and wiped herself dry, stuffing the towel inside her bag alongside the Smoke Bomb Launcher.

It still needs a proper name, though. She thought as she glanced down at it for a few moments before zipping up her bag and walking towards the main room.

...She was greeted by a fairly unpleasant sight… or, what she herself would call unpleasant, anyway, which would be the appearance of Ryunosuke Naruhodou and Susato Mikotoba, sitting by the dinner table with the ever famous detective, Sherlock Holmes right across from them.

It seemed like Naruhodou and Susato were having a conversation, but dropped it as soon as she made her entrance. Gina’s grip on her bag strap became just a little tighter.

"Oh, Gina. We... didn't think you'd be here." Naruhodou remarked. Why does that feel like an insult.

“It’s really not all that surprising.” She scoffed. “If there were other places to wait out the storm that are much better than this crummy place, I’ll go there.”

“Well, we’re still glad to have you, nonetheless.” Sherlock interjects, still in the middle of shoveling food into his mouth. “Iris was expecting you, so she made a lot of extra food tonight.”
