Chapter Text

Jeon Jungkook didn't always have a vendetta against the world. His eyes weren't always this tired. And his words were once soft. But people arent always as they seem and Jungkook would rather see the worst in people first then to be disappointed later on.

At age 15, the time for teen rebellion, trying new things and making stupid choices dear Jungkook was just like the average boy. Full of angst and a burning desire to move to the city to get away from the boredom of everyday life. He was happy and content with being a naive, reckless teen.
But on the day of his sixteenth birthday Jungkook woke to the loud sounds of his mother talking. His eyes blurry from sleep as he scans the room unable to locate where his mom is standing.
'mama? are you in here?'
He could swear he heard her voice in his room. Swinging his legs off the bed he hears her voice again but the sound isn't coming from downstairs or out in the hall it sounds like it's coming from all around him. Jungkook runs facedown to his mom yelling to her asking where she was. As he stumbles through the kitchen door he sees his mom looking back at him with worried looks on her .
'Kookie what's wrong?' his mother asks her voice soft with concern.
But even after her mouth stops moving her voice continues.
~Did something happen? He looks frightened? Has he been crying? Did he have a nightmare?~
His face scrunches up in confusion. Why could he hear her talk when she clearly wasn't saying anything. Was he going crazy. Isn't 16 too young to be going off his rocker.
'somethings wrong eomma' he mutters 'I can hear your voice but it's like… in my head?'
His mom's eyes soften as she pulls him into a gentle embrace.
'It's okay sweetheart your grandmother had the same gift as you.'
'w-what?'
She continues, 'on her sixteenth birthday, she gained the ability to read the minds of those around her. It's a gift passed through the family tree every two generations.'
'why didn't you tell me' Jungkook says confused. People can't just read minds. Maybe he is crazy it seems to run in the family.
'I didn't want to worry you..' she said softly, her eyes cast down in guilt,'I'm sorry I should have told you sooner.'
So ever since Jungkook was sixteen he was blessed with hearing the thoughts of all those around him. Though when he first found out about the gift it seemed like a blessing he soon learnt that ignorance truly was bliss.
Only a few days after learning about his ability he had to return to school. Jungkook was popular as most attractive teen boys are and with popularity come fake friends and lies.
His first day at school with his gift was the worst day of his life. All he heard all day was people thinking shit about their friends, people lying to his face. And God he wished he could go back to not knowing what his friends actually thought about him. Turns out teenagers are mean. He shouldn't be surprised but he was young and naive but Jeon Jungkook was slowing learning that its easier to see the bad in people instead of the good.
On Jungkook's seventeenth birthday he asked for no gifts but to change high schools. Of course he was sick of acting like he had no idea about the things people thought of him but God it was so hard. Over the year he had distanced himself from his so called friends and just wished he could be alone. So he decided to move schools. He could lay low stay alone and not have to deal with the fake people in his old school but even though his plan worked and he could finally be alone without being surrounded by fake friends. Lots of people don't think very kindly of loners either.
When Jungkook finally graduated school he had only one true friend. Park Jimin, he was kind and honest. His thoughts and words never betrayed each other. After two years of friendship Jimin found out about the whole "mind reading" thing.

'jimin there's something I really need to tell you' Jungkook whisper silently hoping that he won't hear me.
'mm' he hums in acknowledgement
~finally I'm glad he's going to tell me~
What. Jungkook goes stiff. How did he know what. Could Jimin also read minds.
'Do you know what I'm about to say?' my hands are shaking as I ask.
Jimin sits up and looks at me and says
'it's okay to be gay Kookie ill always love you' he hugs Jungkook tightly.
~oh no did I just ruin his big moment, damn I should had said I didn't know~
A chuckle vibrates in Jungkook's chest as he pushes jimin away.
'Jimin that's not what I'm going to tell you'
'oh'
~oh~
'I can hear people thought's '
'like a psychic ?' he asks face lacking emotion.
'um I guess'
'wow! That's so cool' jimin yells pulling me back into a hug.
Jimin giggles and says
'I'm glad you told me'
'are you okay that I can hear everything you think' I was sure that he would hate me and be creeped out
'nah,' he yawns, 'it's so cool'
What did Jungkook do in his past life to deserve someone like Jimin to be his friend

He was surprisingly calm about it. Jimin was a bright ray of sunshine in Jungkook's otherwise cynical world but now that the two were going to university Jungkook had no idea that his outlook on life was about to be challenged head on.

Kim Taehyung is a cute boy with a boxy smile he doesn't have any cool abilitys like mind reading but he's lucky because he sees beauty in the world around him. In people and in nature.
Kim Taehyung is perfect.
Well he has one fault.

He doesn't think before he talks.

Well that's not always a bad thing now is it?
