INT. PLAIN WHITE ROOM - NEITHER NIGHT NOR DAY
The room is small. The floor and three of the four walls are completely white, with the fourth being completely covered in paint splatters of various colours. In the middle of the room, there is a white table and two white chairs on opposite sides of the table, facing the coloured wall. On the table, there are two white teacups sat on white saucers and one white teapot. The room has no windows.
HOSEOK sits on a chair, sipping tea. He looks at the coloured wall like it was a window, the sound of his sips filling the silent room. He’s dressed in a black, sparkly suit, white shirt, black tie and black, shiny dress shoes. He looks calm and collected.
YOONGI walks into the room. He looks around, his eyes quickly focusing on Hoseok. Hoseok doesn’t look at him. Yoongi looks down and moves from the doorway, shutting the door behind him. He sits on the empty chair and pours himself some tea. The liquid comes out of the teapot completely white.
Yoongi wears a long white shirt and white trousers made from a light material. His hair is dark brown and kept short and neat. He sits with perfect posture and drinks noiselessly. He sips the tea calmly, looking at the coloured wall just like Hoseok.
HOSEOK
(calmly)
You’re late.
Yoongi nods.
YOONGI
I know. I had matters to attend to. I apologise.
Hoseok scoffs.
HOSEOK
For a Virtue, you lie an awful lot.
Yoongi smiles, looking amused.
YOONGI
I’m the virtue of Patience, not Honesty.
HOSEOK
(with a raised brow)
So you didn’t have anything to attend to? You’re just late for no reason?
YOONGI
(with certainty)
No, I did. I just felt like that point needed to be made.
HOSEOK
(carefully)
Why’s that?
Yoongi shrugs. He looks down at his teacup and then sighs softly.
YOONGI
(looks like there should be a shrug but there isn’t)
I don’t know. Just did.
Hoseok nods. There is an extended period of silence. Hoseok finishes his tea and sets down the cup. He opens his mouth to speak but it takes a second longer for sound to actually leave his throat.
HOSEOK
(looking at Yoongi)
How- how have you been?
Yoongi looks at Hoseok directly for the first time. Their eyes meet. Yoongi’s eyes observe Hoseok’s face before he looks back at the wall, expression calm and collected.
YOONGI
Good. You? How have you been?
Hoseok looks down at his lap. He clears his throat.
HOSEOK
(tightly, trying to appear nonchalant)
Good. I’ve been good.
The two are in silence for a while. Hoseok seems restless in his chair, foot tapping against the white floor in an erratic rhythm. Yoongi, in contrast, looks completely calm, sipping his tea silently and examining the wall subtly. He seems politely detached from the conversation.
HOSEOK
(unsure)
It’s been a while. Since- since we’ve done this.
Yoongi is silent. Hoseok decides to press on.
HOSEOK
I invited you and you declined. Multiple times. I- I just want to know why.
Yoongi sighed gently.
YOONGI
I’ve been busy. I told you that.
HOSEOK
(nodding)
Yes, I remember, but I don’t believe you. Your work never got in the way of us meeting.
YOONGI
(calmly)
Well, things don’t revolve around you, Hoseok. I was too busy. In fact, I had to postpone things to come here.
HOSEOK
Then why did you come? You didn’t have to.
Yoongi is silent. He seems frozen on the spot. Yoongi set down his cup. He folded his hands in his lap. A long, silent moment goes by.
YOONGI
I don’t know. I don’t know why I’m here.
Yoongi looks at Hoseok for a second before looking back at his lap.
YOONGI
Especially after what happened.
Hoseok swallows thickly. He clears his throat, his eyes still focused on Yoongi’s face.
HOSEOK
I thought you didn’t want to talk about it.
YOONGI
I don’t. But you’re acting like nothing happened-
HOSEOK
That’s what you told me to do-
YOONGI
(getting frustrated)
Yes, but you’re acting like you’re naïve and it’s bothering me. You know exactly why I didn't want to see you so don’t pretend like you don’t.
Hoseok huffed, thigh bouncing up and down anxiously.
HOSEOK
(frustrated, on edge)
I don’t understand why you’re acting like what happened was entirely my fault.
YOONGI
(raising his voice uncharacteristically)
Because it was. You’re the one that said all those things and then got close and-
Yoongi shuts his eyes tightly and breathes slowly. Hoseok stares at him.
YOONGI
I don’t know why I came. I- I really think I should leave. I have things to do anyway-
Yoongi stands to leave and moves to the door. Hoseok moves to the edge of his chair and extends his arm desperately.
HOSEOK
(in a rush)
No! Yoongi, don’t go. Please don’t go. Please stay. I just want to talk.
Yoongi stops by the door, hands stiffly by his sides. Hoseok holds his breath as uncertain seconds go by. Yoongi takes a deep breath and sits back down, avoiding Hoseok’s eyes. He doesn’t look annoyed or upset, but his expression is stern.
YOONGI
Speak then.
Hoseok swallows thickly and settles back in his chair, shoulders squared.
HOSEOK
I know you want me to apologise for what I did. You seem… upset about it. And I’m sorry you feel that way about it but I’m not going to apologise for what I did. I said what I said and I did what I did because I felt it was the right thing and I know you enjoyed it too-
YOONGI
(in a rush)
Don’t say I enjoyed it. I didn’t enjoy it. Don’t say that.
HOSEOK
But Yoongi, you did. I saw it in your eyes. You loved every second of it and I did too. I just- I don't feel bad about what I did because it felt so… so good -
YOONGI
No. No, you can’t feel bad about it because you’re a sin. You have no morals… no- no sense of right or wrong. You did something you shouldn’t have, you took advantage of these encounters to get what you want- what you really wanted, what you always wanted. You’re selfish, you’re… you’re despicable . I know I should never have agreed to meet with you, all you did was- was corrupt me.
HOSEOK
(standing, angry)
I did no such thing! You wanted it! I asked you, I asked you and you said yes. Yes, I am selfish and I am greed but I would never hurt you. I have never hurt you. You are feeling ashamed because you liked it more than you should’ve and you’re blaming me for it-
Yoongi stands, clearly angry but still looking calmer than Hoseok.
YOONGI
(accusatory, voice rising as he speaks)
So what if I am? It is your fault! This whole thing is completely, entirely your fault! You’re the one that invited me for tea in the first place, you’re the one that kept wanting me to keep coming back and saying how much you enjoyed spending time with me and you’re the one that got close to me and you’re the one that- that-
HOSEOK
(standing, voice loud)
That what, Yoongi?
YOONGI
(outburst)
Kissed me. You’re the one that kissed me. You should’ve never done that! I never asked you to! You took away my purity, made me sinful . I have never felt these things before I met you. How do I know you’re not corrupting me? Manipulating me? You’re using me to get what you want and you’re horrible for it-
HOSEOK
(still angry, softer)
You’re wrong. I never manipulated you. Everything I ever did or said I meant it. Yes, I wanted to get close to you. How could I not? You’re gorgeous. Have you even looked at yourself? You’re so- so beautiful . I wanted to talk to you and get to know you and yes, I did enjoy our time together. I have never lied. I never forced you to do anything you didn’t want to. You’re the one that said yes in the first place, to these encounters and to the kiss. For fucks sake, you’re here now, although you claim you’re so busy and you practically hate me!
HOSEOK
(taking a step forward, still far from Yoongi)
You’re blaming me because really, you feel guilty. Because you enjoyed spending time with me, and you enjoyed the kiss and because you love me too. I know you love me too. I can see it in your eyes.
Hoseok stares into Yoongi’s eyes, taking a step forward. Yoongi doesn’t move, keeping his eyes locked with Hoseok’s. Hoseok reaches for Yoongi’s cheek, stroking it affectionately. Yoongi takes a sudden step backwards. Hoseok’s hand falls by his side and he frowns.
YOONGI
(shakily)
Don’t touch me. You shouldn’t be near me. This shouldn’t be happening. I- I shouldn’t even be feeling like this.
HOSEOK
(calmly)
Yoongi, you keep saying you ‘shouldn’t’ and ‘we can’t’ but what do you want? What do you really want? Because that’s what matters to me. I don’t give a shit what the rules are or our limitations are. I want you, Yoongi, no matter what. So tell me, honestly, what do you want?
Yoongi and Hoseok stare at each other for a long moment. Several times, Hoseok thinks Yoongi will turn around and leave, and never come back. But Yoongi just takes a deep breath and looked pointedly at Yoongi, eyes sincere.
YOONGI
(quietly)
You. I want you.
Hoseok steps up to Yoongi. He stays still but Yoongi guides Hoseok’s hand to his cheek, like before. Hoseok smiles at the gesture and begins caressing the soft, pale skin with his thumb.
YOONGI
(looking at Hoseok, soft)
I’m not supposed to want this… you’re a sin, Hoseok. I’m a virtue. We- we can’t-
HOSEOK
Shh, baby, don’t worry about that. We’ll figure it out, okay?
Yoongi hesitates but eventually nods, closing his eyes and leaning into the touch.
YOONGI
(hesitant, gentle)
Can you kiss me? Like you did last time?
Hoseok smiles widely and leans forward. He cups both of Yoongi’s plump cheeks and brushes his lips over Yoongi’s. Yoongi’s breath hitches and Hoseok kisses Yoongi softly, keeping the pecks chaste and unhurried.
Yoongi begins to grow restless, whimpering for more. Hoseok deepens the kiss and moves his hand to Yoongi’s waist, which was still covered by the white shirt. He resists the urge to feel the bare back and rests his hand over the fabric. They break apart to catch their breaths.
YOONGI
Hoseok, we can’t do this. What are we going to do if they find out? And how can we even be together, in the long term?
Yoongi buries his face in Hoseok’s chest, breathing deeply.
YOONGI
I really want you too. And I-I’ll wait. I’ll wait for you. I will. I don’t mind. I don’t mind.
Hoseok chuckles softly, fondly. He strokes Yoongi’s hair lovingly.
HOSEOK
Well, I do mind. I want you now, I want you all for myself. I can’t wait. You’re too sweet, Yoongi. Too fucking sweet. I won’t make you wait and I won’t wait.
Yoongi sighs.
YOONGI
What are we going to do, Hoseok?
HOSEOK
(determined)
We’ll figure something out. They can’t do anything to us. They need us. They can’t replace us. And no matter what, we’ll find a way to be together. In this room, at least, we’re safe.
YOONGI
(looking at Hoseok, sincere)
Promise? Promise we’ll be together?
Hoseok smiles, kissing Yoongi’s cheek.
HOSEOK
A promise made by a sin doesn’t mean much, does it?
YOONGI
(smiling)
Maybe not. But at least you’re my sin. That- that means something to me.
HOSEOK
And you’re my virtue, baby. My one and only virtue.
Hoseok kisses the crown of Yoongi’s head. Yoongi beams after all of Hoseok’s acts of love and affection.
HOSEOK
What do you want to do, baby? I know our options are limited, but it’s up to you. Anything you want.
Yoongi grins.
YOONGI
I want to sit in your lap and talk. I don’t want to worry about other things for now. I don’t want to feel guilty. I just- I want to spend time with you. Just you.
Hoseok smiles and brushes Yoongi’s bangs out of his eyes.
HOSEOK
That sounds wonderful. Let’s do that. I wanna do that.
Yoongi and Hoseok sit on the floor, against the coloured wall. Yoongi sits between Hoseok’s legs.
They smile and kiss a lot. When Yoongi leaves the room, he doesn’t feel guilty - he feels hopeful.
When Hoseok leaves the room, he feels determined. He’s going to have Yoongi no matter what, as long as Yoongi will have him.
Yoongi will wait for Hoseok, even if it takes an eternity for them to be together. Hoseok will fight for Yoongi, no matter if it takes a war.
