Work Text:

Hizashi’s alarm went off, and without looking he turned it off, not wanting to move from where he was. Not only was he warm and comfortable, but Aizawa was curled against him, face tucked into the crook of Hizashi’s neck, and wrapped around him like a life preserver. He would always start out on his side of the bed, then sometime in the night make his way over into Hizashi’s space and cuddle hard against the blonde. In the mornings, he would always be slow to wake and it would sometimes overwhelm Hizashi with how softly this gruff hero could wake up, to the point Hizashi would nearly cry. That was one way Aizawa said just how much he loved his husband. But there were so many nonverbal ways he said it every single day.

Aizawa’s scruff scratched at Hizashi’s shoulder, the weight of the other man against him, comforting. There was something about waking up like this that never got old. Despite the years they’d been together, Hizashi still appreciated every little thing about his husband and couldn’t help himself from gently placing a kiss on the other man’s cheek just below his eyes. Being the little spoon despite the height difference was one of his favorite things.

Aizawa’s eyes fluttered in his sleep and he moved to stretch. His embarrassment for cuddling so close to Hizashi never seemed to cease, and it made Hizashi smile to see him try to hide the blush across his cheeks as he rolled away, pretending to still be asleep.

“Morning, Shou,” he said softly, knowing the other man didn’t like loud noises first thing upon waking up.

“Mrmph,” came the reply as Aizawa curled into a ball not wanting to face the day just yet. Or his emotions. Hizashi chuckled. He was feeling nostalgic this morning for some reason and seeing his husband curled up like a cat reminded him of the times Hizashi would try to impress him when they were younger. Bringing him cat shaped food in his lunches, knowing the hero would sometimes forget his own lunch in the mornings. The memory sparked an idea and Hizashi leaned over and kissed Aizawa’s shoulder.

“I’m going to go make breakfast,” he murmured. “Join me when you can.”

Breakfast was the traditional stuff they ate, but this time he wanted to do something special. As he arranged the food on the plate, he made cute little kitten faces and did the same with the onigiri he put in Aizawa’s lunch box. The hero would get a surprise later today that would cheer him up if he got grumpy over his students again.

It wasn’t long before Aizawa joined him in the kitchen, slumping his way over to the coffee pot and making them both coffee. That was another way he said ‘I love you’. Hizashi couldn’t help but smile to himself as he watched his husband make it just the way he liked it, not too sweet, not too bitter, not too strong or too weak. Just right. Something that very few people could do more than once. Yet Shouta seemed to get it right every time. When he was done with the concoction that was Hizashi’s favorite drink, he brought it over and set it on the counter beside him, laying his head on the blonde’s shoulder and wrapping his arms around his waist as he watched Hizashi work. That was another way he said ‘I love you’. It was gentle, subtle, sweet, and Hizashi particularly liked it when his hands would roam a bit or, like today, Aizawa returned the kiss on the shoulder, pressing his lips against Hizashi’s bare skin and lingering for just a moment. That was ‘I love you too’.

As they sat down to eat, Hizashi rambled away at some of the tasks he had to do that day and Aizawa listened dutifully, though Hizashi could see the hint of a smile pulling at the edges of his lips as he ate one of the cat faces on his plate. One of Hizashi’s favorite Shouta smiles was the ones he tried and failed to hide. They were soft, too soft for such a gruff hero, and it made his heart melt every time.

When breakfast was done and the dishes washed and put to the side to dry, they both went to get ready for work, Hizashi admiring Aizawa’s physic as always as the other hero dressed himself in his sloppy clothes. The curve of his muscles made Hizashi want to wrap his arms around the hero’s waist and pull him close, stealing a kiss. He might just do that later anyway, he thought to himself. There was an itching desire to just wrap his arms around Aizawa today and not let him go until they were blue in the face from making out. Unfortunately they were late for school, so there was no time for making out this morning.

But tomorrow was Saturday...

He grinned to himself as he planned a few things to do to Aizawa tomorrow. Meanwhile, he finished putting the final touches on his outfit and fixing his hair before they both made their way to the door. Pausing before they opened it, Hizashi turned and smiled at Aizawa, leaning in and stealing a morning kiss for the day - actually two, no three - before they left for work, taking their usual route. Whenever they would cross a street, Aizawa’s hand would find Hizashi’s. Safety, sure, but Hizashi knew Aizawa was holding on for more than that. To keep from losing the other hero as he hurried across the walk way in the midst of the morning commute surrounded by hundreds of people who pushed and made their way past them.

Hizashi gently laced their fingers in reassurance. ‘I’m here’ he said.

‘I love you’ replied Aizawa with a small squeeze of his hand.

When they reached the other side of the street, they automatically let go of one another, Aizawa not much one for public displays of affection, and Hizashi always needing to talk animatedly with his hands as they made their way down the sidewalk to Yuuei.

“I’m stealing your jacket tomorrow for date night by the way,” Hizashi said amidst his rambles.

“Don’t you have your own jacket?” Aizawa replied, frowning.

“Not one that smells like you,” Hizashi replied, earning an eye roll and the tug of Aizawa’s lips as he tried to hide his smile.

“Idiot,” Aizawa replied. ‘I love you’ he meant. Hizashi heard it.

Once they reached the school, they made their way into the teacher’s lounge and found themselves the only ones left in there before class started. They went to their lockers and put up their things, and Hizashi looked around, checking for anyone coming in or walking past the door outside. When he was sure the coast was clear, he grabbed Aizawa by the hand, spun the hero into his arms, and wrapped his arms around his waist.

“Hizashi what are you-?” Aizawa flushed.

“I love you,” Hizashi said softly, leaning in and stealing another kiss. This one was soft, gentle, and impossibly sweet, tasting of the coffee he’d made Hizashi that morning. When the blonde hero pulled away, running his hands along Aizawa’s sides, he grinned at his husband.

“What’s wrong?” Aizawa asked suspiciously.

“Nothing,” Hizashi hummed. “I’m just glad you’re mine~”

Aizawa’s face relaxed into a soft look. “I’m glad you’re mine too.” ‘I love you too,’ his words said without saying. His look said without his voice. His lips said without speaking. Releasing his husband, Hizashi smiled at him with even more gusto.

“See you at lunch, my love,” he said softly.

"Hm," replied Aizawa. 'As you wish, love of my life,' his smirk said.

Classes seemed to drag on forever and by the time Aizawa got to lunch he was starving. Opening his lunch box that Hizashi had packed him, a small blush dusted his cheeks at the site of the adorable onigiri cats inside. 'I love you' they said and he smiled to himself as he tucked in. When Mic came to join him with Midnight and Cementoss in tow, they all sat in the teachers lounge, talking amongst themselves. When Aiza wa a was nearly done with his food, he casually set the last few bites on Mic's plate when the others weren't paying attention to make sure he had enough to eat. The blonde hero used a lot more energy than he did and needed the extra energy. 'I love you too' the gesture said.

When Mic saw the usual bite sitting on his plate he smiled softly to himself, hearing the message clearly and letting it warm his heart. When they'd finished eating, they parted ways and went back to class, but not before Mic took Aizawa's hand in his own and gave it a little squeeze. The squeeze was instantly returned and they released, parting ways.

When school was over, Mic had to go to his radio job and Aizawa had papers to grade. The two parted ways and when Hizashi got to his job, he found a note in his bag beside a couple of energy bars and a jelly packet that said "Don't forget to eat." 'I'll miss you tonight. I love you' the words on the note said. Hizashi smiled and grabbed the food, making his way into the booth to get ready for the shift.

Once the shift was over, he made his way home to find Aizawa had cooked him some supper and left a note on top to remember to eat a real meal before he came to bed. He grinned and ate a small bit before going to their bedroom and stripping out of his hero costume. He put on a pair of pajama pants and crawled into bed next to his husband, feeling for the lump beside him as he lay on his back. The lump stirred slightly, rolling over and reaching out to find Hizashi, then sighing with relief before curling against him for the night. A small snore escape, and Hizashi smiled to himself.

"I love you, Shou," he said, kissing the top of the other man's head.

"Hizashi," Aizawa muttered in his sleep. He murmured something incomprehensible, obviously dreaming, and Hizashi smiled to himself, falling just a little more in love with his husband as he fell asleep too.

He really did have a perfect life.
