Chapter Text

Kaminari saw Jirou laughing at something on her phone after school.
He peeked over her shoulder asking, “Hey, what are you doing?”
Jirou practically jumped back, clutching her phone to her chest so he couldn’t see. “Kaminari--don’t do that!” she squeaked. Kaminari stifled a laugh. It was so rare he caught her off guard like that.
“Last I checked, you weren’t crazy enough to be laughing at nothing. Maybe now you are, are you?”
The dark haired girl regained her composure and gave the other boy a hard glare. “No, I’m not. If you must know it was ‘You Say Run Goes with Everything’.”
Kaminari nodded in understanding. “So what was it this time?”
“It was- hey, no you don”t!” Jirou slapped his hand away as he made a wild lunge at her phone.
“Ow! You didn’t have to hit that hard!” he whined. “You’re lucky I didn’t use my earphone jacks on you. Why don’t you just let me tell you?” she asked.
“If you’re going to tell me anyway, then why hide it?” he retorted, now curious as to what Jirou was so determined to hide from him.
“B-because, it’s embarrassing! You know what, I don’t care anymore.”
She shoved her phone at him. Kaminari could have sworn that she’d swiped her thumb across the screen in a motion that would’ve changed the video displayed. At the moment, he’d thought nothing of it. When he pressed the play button, it showed Jirou determined, running for a target during P.E. Todoroki recalled it to be rescue training. The overplayed ‘You Say Run’ sounded in the background. At PLUS ULTRA, Jirou and her teammate successfully passed the final practical test. Finishing the rest of the compilation, he handed the phone back to its defensive owner.

“Not too bad. You don’t have to hide it. Who made it anyway?” Jirou scowled at her phone as if everything that happened today was it’s fault. Kaminari winced in sympathy. The phone didn’t deserve that.
“Mina of course. She somehow got all of this without my permission.” she grumbled.
“Ashido huh? You’re in a bad mood today. Is she why?” he asked.
“Yes and no.” she answered unsatisfactorily. Jirou stood up, slinging her backpack strap on one shoulder. “Anyway, my ride is here. Nice talking to you, but I’ve got to go now.” Kaminari tried his best to hide the disappointment on his face.
“Ok. See you tomorrow!” he said raising a hand. Jirou was already opening the door to the car. “See ya!” she smiled at him. Flashing a peace sign at him, she said, “Peace out!” and clambered into the car. With that, she was off, getting further and further by the second. Kaminari rarely smiled least of all to himself. Yet that’s what he did just then. All because of Kyouka Jirou.
