Another dictionary.com word of the day drabble. This time from 01/30/2003 for the word cavil.

Work Text:

When Ziva joined the team, she quickly found herself the brunt of jokes due to her misused idioms. She understood why they found it amusing, but it wasn’t to her. She was trying her best and they clearly understood what she meant or they wouldn’t correct her.

Why must they laugh at her? Of course, if she thought it would get better if she improved her abilities and used less incorrect idioms, she was sadly mistaken. In fact, it seemed like Tony caviled at everything she said these days.

It was one thing to point out when she used a wrong turn of phrase, but to point out trivial things just because he could was annoying and useless. It didn’t help her learn and it wasn’t even funny. He was proving to everyone how much of a fool he was, though, so aside from calling him on it, she let it go.

Notes:

The dictionary.com series has no stories already written for it after this one, so I will be posting at least no stories before I stop posting again. I'm hoping to get more stories written before then, so that I don't stop posting for a while. Hopefully I'll be able to get more written this weekend, but who knows.
