Summary:

Because no bookish, workaholic person like Kim Namjoon could ever have a boyfriend, right? That's what his friends all assume.

Notes:

I thought my first fic into this fandom would be my OTP, but amongst my 12+ TaeGi fics stored on my drive, VMon shines like the sun. So here we are with some adorable VMon. Also, I am terrible with English, even though it's my first language, so excuse this horrible mass of adorably shit words. . 。・゚゚・(>д<)・゚゚・。

Work Text:

It starts when Yoongi is grumbling over black coffee about how Hoseok decided them sleeping together once means that now he gets to move all his shit into the older’s apartment. They all know how giddy the older really is about it, his crush on the young dancer had been going on so long and his lips curled ever so softly into a coy smile as he ranted.

Seokjin rolls his eyes bemusedly as Jungkook steals fries from Yoongi’s plate as he daydreams. “We all know you’re ready to buy a ring Yoongi, but let’s be real, you don’t even use half your studio apartment anyway.”

Truthfully, the apartment was shared by both Namjoon and Yoongi, but when Namjoon got his up and coming internship as a producer he had decided to move closer to work. Yoongi kept saying he didn’t mind it, deciding to stay behind and commute, but he never really filled up the empty spaces until Hoseok came with his clutter.

The second oldest’s cheeks flush, “I wasn’t hunting for a ring!”

“It was a forever bracelet.” Jungkook remarked, crying out in fake pain when Yoongi smacked his hand from his plate in false anger.

Seokjin just chortled, leaning back as he took in his friends at the table, “Oh man, who knew Yoongi and Hoseok would be the first people in our group to actually get dates?”

Namjoon frowned above his book, Yoongi and Seokjin were quarreling and he’d been seemingly unnoticed since no one had even bothered to look his way. “I’ve been dating my boyfriend longer, so doesn’t that make them second?”

Jungkook and Yoongi share curious looks, clearly not expecting the other to say something. Seokjin lets out that squeaky laugh of his as he glances over to Namjoon, “Really Joon? Dating your books doesn’t count as actual dating.”

Namjoon’s frown became deeper, “He’s real, I told you guys before, at the party for my promotion six months ago! Don’t you remember?”

Seokjin sends him a soft pitying look, leaning forward so he can gently lay his hand above Namjoon’s. “Joon, listen, I’m not saying this to be mean or anything, but when do you even have time to go outside? Much less date? Between your work and your online college classes, the only time you go out is when we drag you out. Even Yoongi has more of an outside life than you.”

Yoongi let out a strangled noise in protest, but Jungkook continued to ignore him in favor of the other, “What’s his name hyung?”

“Taehyung.” Supplies Namjoon, dimples soft just by murmuring his name.

Clearly it was said too fast for Seokjin, who looked like he wanted to say something about him practicing lies, but Jungkook continued lightly, “What’s he like?”

“He’s nice!” And like the sun, the older sprang into a dedicated story of the man, that he was nearer Jungkook’s age, he liked fashion and that he was energetic and bright. It then launched into a small story of things they did during the last summer, which they remember they barely saw him during.

Vaguely Seokjin gives him a look before he leans his head back, “Why didn’t you introduce us?”

Namjoon’s cheeks tinted pink, “He travels too much, I told you guys that, that’s why we never go out. We try to Skype every few nights though.”

While Seokjin is still staring him down and trying to solve his secrets, Yoongi offers the next question, “How did you guys meet?”

“I... I spilled coffee on him...” the other croaked, cheeks burning red as the three laughed, “It got in his camera too and I thought I broke it, so I was going to offer to replace it. But we wiped it out, let it dry and it started working again! I dunno what I’d do if our story started off with me breaking it.”

For a brief moment Seokjin’s lips pressed together, the story sounds like an Instagram story he’d seen before, but he can’t remember who posted it. Clearly Namjoon had seen it too, because Seokjin remembers small details like the person’s Gucci shirt with flowers with a giant coffee stain. He’d been sympathetic in particular, because hello poor fashion being attacked.

Namjoon groans as they decided to press him with more questions, only to be saved by a quick phone call. He announces that it’s work before heading out the door of the busy restaurant, Yoongi’s nose wrinkling at the thought of him being contacted after too.

Taking this moment, Seokjin glanced over at the other two, eyes narrowing. “Okay, so besides the fact that I clearly have read stories with better plots, who believes this Taehyung kid is real?”

“He sounds happy.” Jungkook offered, fighting Yoongi playfully for more fries when the older pays attention again, “isn’t that what matters hyung?”

“I just want him happy!” The older pressed, pouting disapprovingly.

“And he seems to be,” Yoongi shrugs, finally allowing the youngest onto his plate. “If he’s real or not let’s just support him completely. If he is then good for him, if not, well then it gives him time to find an actual guy.”

Seokjin shot him a look and went back to his food, pouting the rest of the meal.

✩✩✩✩✩

Hoseok had barely heard bits and pieces of the conversation from Yoongi, but all he knew was that he was going to support Namjoon to the fullest.

That’s why he figured he’d bring lunch to his favorite other hyung, along with seeing his sister who lived a few floors below.

So he quickly went to a nearby shop and loaded up with snack foods for his sister’s kids before getting Namjoon’s favorite coffee and kimchi jjigae and making his way to the other’s apartment.

By the time he slipped inside and approached the elevator there had already been another man in the lobby. He had just barely been pressing the up button, humming a pleasant tune under his breath.

Hoseok smiled brightly at him as he made his way to the elevator, “Coming home?”

The man smiled back gently, surprised by the sudden conversation, “Sort of? I haven’t fully moved in yet, so for now just visiting someone.”

Hoseok nodded, shuffling the large paper bag in his arms as the plastic bag swung lightly on his wrist, “I know that feeling, when I moved in with my boyfriend a few days ago I felt awkward saying I was moving in too.”

The man seemed surprised, but his smile widened into something brighter, “I technically haven’t brought it up to him yet that I want to move in, but hey, it’s nice to see a welcoming community.”

He knew exactly what the other meant, there was a savage old bastard four floors below Yoongi. For reasons unknown he barely tolerated the older to begin with, but as soon as he found out he was gay the man began a verbal hate attack any time they were in earshot. Hoseok’s personal favorite was that he was insistent that he could hear their 'disgusting homo devil sex' even with four floors between them.

“Always!” Hoseok smiled wide, “In fact my friend Namjoon lives on one side of the top suite floors, and since he’s gay too I joking call him King Gay.”

The man’s eyebrows rose before he let out a deep laugh, head thrown back and eyes squinting as he gently smacked Hoseok’s arm in amusement, “King Gay? Really!?”

He laughed with him as the elevator arrived, looking curiously as the man hit the button for the top floor as Hoseok hit his sister’s halfway through. He’d drop off her things first and then make his way up to enjoy a delicious lunch with his friend.

The man smiled back at him, “You’re pretty good friends with Namjoon then?”

“We’re the same age, he’s technically a few months older. I work with him, though he produces music and I teach the dances for it.”

The other seemed surprised but it quickly morphed into amusement, “That’s great though, every time I see him he looks so stressed from work. I’m glad he has someone to rely on.”

Hoseok nodded solemnly, frowning for a brief second, “I think he’s adjusting to the new job honestly, but he always puts more pressure on himself than anyone. Recently our friends dragged him out to eat and he apparently announced he had a boyfriend, but he never leaves home so almost no one believes him.”

The man raised his eyebrows at him curiously, a curl of a smile on his lips, “Maybe his boyfriend just has different hours?”

He shrugged, bag shuffling in his hands, “I wasn’t there, but apparently he said something about traveling and Skype? All I was told was a possible name and maybe he’ll visit soon, which Jin-hyung is excited for.”

They were a floor away from his sister’s, so he freed a hand to hold out to him, “Hoseok, by the way. Maybe I’ll see you around?”

“I’m sure you will.” The man teased, shaking his hand as the doors dinged open. “I’m Taehyung, before I forget.”

He smiled and walked out before waving at the man, whistling a tune before freezing two doors down. Suddenly he whirled, staring at the man in the elevator.

Taehyung started laughing just as the doors closed, knowing what dawned on him.

“That was his boyfriend.” Hoseok breathed, freezing even when his sister’s door opened and her kids came cheering out into the hall.

✩✩✩✩✩

Yoongi winced dramatically as Hoseok screeched over the phone. He barely was able to understand anything as the younger continued to gush in excitement. Even when the phone was almost arms length away from Yoongi, he could hear his lover’s jumbled mess of excitement.

“I can hear him from here.” Jungkook snickered, “But I can’t understand him, what is he even saying?”

The older struggled to hear anything above screeching, but he only made out the word ‘boyfriend’ at the end. Possibly because it was screeched at a higher decibel than anything else. He shot a glance at the younger, “That was higher than any of the notes you sing.”

Jungkook grinned cheekily, continuing to Photoshop his pictures as the older two went on.

Oh my god, I still have his food and coffee.” Hoseok muttered over the speaker, finally speaking low enough for Yoongi to understand. “I can’t go up there now! It’s been like half a year since they’ve seen each other right?!

“It’s just food, Hobi, I doubt either would care.”

But what if I walk in on something? WHAT IF I BECOME THE REASON HE DOESN’T GET LAID FOR ANOTHER SIX MONTHS? AND THEN TAEHYUNG WOULD BE MAD AT ME TOO, THAT’S TWO TOO MANY PEOPLE MAD AT ME!

Both of their hands flew up to their ears, even when Yoongi’s phone clattered onto his coffee table it didn’t seem to affect the man’s speech.

I could totally ruin their relationship, just by giving them food! Food is supposed to bring people together! If I tear them apart they won’t forgive me! Namjoon won’t forgive me! He’ll tell the CEO to never let him work with me again!

Yoongi had enough shame to look guilty for his friends-with-benefit, but he attempted to continue on, “Text him then, tell him you have extra food from your visit with your sister and you wanted to know if he was free for some. The worst he’ll do is tell you no.”

Oh my god.” Hoseok breathed as if he never thought of it. “You’re a genius Yoongles, no wonder I love you, you’re my favorite hyung. Okay let me text him mwhaaa!” He gave the speaker the wettest kissing noise before promptly hanging up without a goodbye.

Jungkook was laughing at Yoongi’s red face before the line even disconnected.

✩✩✩✩✩

Maybe that’s why karma chose Yoongi next, because karma is an asshole and Min Yoongi is an even bigger one.

A few days later he’s alone in his studio, a random song he’s working on is blasting away on his speakers as he tries to focus. It sounded great on his headphones, but testing it out in speakers suddenly made the song sound like a bad trance at a rave.

He’s in the middle of messing with the bridges and changing the speed of the background tempo when Namjoon pops in with a bright smile.

“Can you check out a song for me?”

“After Princess Bubblepop’s song, I can.” He waves his arm around before he covers his eyes with it and groans, “This song is bullshit and I hate it.”

Namjoon lays down the USB with his song on the desk before patting Yoongi’s shoulder in sympathy, “You’re almost done man, even if she complains it’s the company picking the song, not her. No song ever has enough love and pop in it for her.”

The woman in question is Jungkook’s age, she tries to use her baby face in order to become Korea’s sweetheart. But the way she drinks too much and chain smokes makes it obvious it’s nothing more than a false glance at pitying dreams of aging.

It’s a running rumor no one in the industry really likes her, an extreme case of dual personality between the way she treats staff compared to her fans. It has divided people into mixed feelings over enjoying her and her music, sometimes even causing issues with large events that she tries to perform at. For some reason she hopes the sweet songs will lure like a siren, but all it ever really gets her is mediocre scores and even less approval.

Namjoon leaves over and begins to play with the song, moving a chorus towards the beginning and adding a few odds and ends from Yoongi’s mix board. The song still isn’t amazing, but his tweaks have at least improved Yoongi’s mood about it.

“Do you think if I added a rooster crooning to the song she’d know it’s for her?”

The younger laughs, trying to hold it in as this is the moment the woman’s manager chooses to invade Yoongi’s studio without even knocking.

“What do you mean it’s not done?!” The other woman screeches, all pleasantries gone as soon as Yoongi mentions those words, “Min-sshi we had a deal to have at least five songs done by the end of this week!”

“I still have until midnight.” He shoots back, sending a murderous look her way, and Namjoon nearly steps in when she winces and takes a step back. “Besides, I’ve given her ten fucking songs already, three of which landed on Naver’s top ten, she’s lucky she even got that with how fucking spoiled she is.”

With her feathers clearly ruffled, the woman storms from the room, no doubt to tell her client how terrible a person he is. Not that Yoongi really minds, because he’d give anything to never work with her again, but her company will ignore her complaints because he brings success.

Yoongi sighs and leans back in his chair, “Give me your song, Joon, I swear to god if I listen to that bitch’s crowing one more time I’m gonna lose my damn mind.”

Namjoon chuckles and offers the USB to his friend, watching as he connects it to his main computer and pulls it up. The program shows it’s a choppy mess with different labels like ‘Sample Idea’ and ‘DON’TUSETHISBUTREALLYDO’, they almost laugh at how chaotic it looks.

The producer leans back and clicks the play button, letting a deep humming come into the studio before a soft beat begins to play behind it a few moments later. It’s a soft song—some kind of ballad for a possible OST—and although it currently lacks any real lyrics, the person humming sounds completely soulful and captivating.

“Is this made for someone in particular? The person humming has a deep voice, and it seems to blend well with the song.”

Yoongi glances to his friend, freezing when the younger avoids looking at him with a completely burning red face. He expected his friend to say an artist, or maybe just say it was a private project. He was definitely not expecting a tomato as a friend.

“I just felt like writing it.” The other says, still not meeting his gaze, and suddenly Yoongi just knows.

Namjoon wrote it for his boyfriend.

Vaguely he can tell the other is trying not to mention anything about it, maybe he wants to present it to his boyfriend first, all official before he shows it off to his friends. Hoseok confirmed Taehyung’s reality a few days ago, but now for Yoongi it’s very real and very true. It’s also honestly disgustingly cute, and he almost weeps real Min Yoongi tears for how soft his friend is being.

“Well.” He coughs, roughly as the song nears its end. It was soft and smooth and if it was anything like their relationship, then maybe it was perfect. “Whoever it’s for, they should have the person humming do some background vocals or something. They’ve got a decent voice from what I heard.”

Namjoon plays it off coolly, offering a thanks and a cup of coffee for the trouble, but Yoongi’s been his friend long enough that he can practically see stars in the other’s eyes.

Damn, it’s almost embarrassing how whipped the other is. And maybe he almost feels second hand embarrassment from realizing he seems to be the same with Hoseok.

✩✩✩✩✩

I didn’t meet him.” Yoongi hums over the line quietly, “But Namjoon’s definitely on cloud nine, I praised his boyfriend’s voice once and he was practically in tears of adoration.

Jungkook snorts into his phone, balancing it between his ear and shoulder as he adds copious amounts of sugar and cream to the two trays full of coffee in front of him. He almost regrets complaining about needing coffee, because all his friends agreed and threw orders at him like he was some intern at a big office. He possibly may stab Yugyeom or Jackson with a coffee stirrer when he gets back, no promises on maybe just all of them.

“So what do we do in the meantime, just let him bring it casually up to us? Or do we bring it up over weekend brunch? Hey, your boyfriend, that like half of us have met, he seems cool.”

Yoongi barks out a laugh as Jungkook slowly starts to close all the lids of the coffees, “Just let him bring it up, I think if we all try to be Seokjin then he may just move to a new country altogether.

The thought of being like his oldest hyung honestly worries Jungkook, but at the same time it almost makes him laugh obnoxiously. He agrees and bids goodbye to the older before hanging up and pocketing his phone, turning towards the built-in waste bin to throw away heaping packets of used sugar.

Only to smack right into a shorter man and watch in surprise as the open-lid coffee the man held spills backwards onto the sleeve of his white button up shirt.

“I’m so sorry!” He stutters, ignoring the wince on the man’s cherub face as he quickly scrambles for napkins and pats the stain down, “I didn’t expect anyone to come up behind me so quickly!”

“It’s fine.” The smaller man gently grins despite the possible coffee burn on his arm, “I wasn’t making much noise to announce myself anyways.”

“You figure I’d be more alert now than I was when I was on my phone!” He cursed softly, realizing the shirt the man wore was in fact silk. It was rolled up on the sleeves of his jacket, so it was minimal damage to the actual silk, but still. Silk! “I’m so sorry! It’s going to be a nightmare to get out! And will probably cost a small fortune too!”

The other waves him off, smile gentle, “It’s completely fine, it was just a test shirt anyways, I was being a backup model for a friend’s shoot and technically the shirt’s more of a demo? No one else is really gonna see it after this except the staff who’ll make more.”

Jungkook breathes a sigh of relief, standing straight to at least look the man in the eyes correctly. He towers almost half a head taller than the other, but the man’s charming smile makes up for what he lacks in height. “Can I at least offer you a coffee to make up the half you spilled?”

Realizing he can’t win, the other nods and goes back to the barista to mention his order again. When she gives him a confused look he explains the situation and she nods, apparently promising that neither should pay for an honest mistake. She gets his order remade quickly, and Jungkook decides to buy some treats as an apology for the man and a thanks for the woman. When the other man tries to deny them Jungkook reasons to give them to the other’s friend, to make up to them for the spill, even for a test shirt.

Together they move towards a table, away from the cafe’s fast pace and lingering line; Jungkook carefully sets his friends luke-warm coffees down as the man carefully sets down the messenger bag he was carrying on a seat. He reaches into the pockets of his jacket to remove small items he was carrying, the business cards and two phones he pulls out quickly catch Jungkook’s interest.

The man begins to remove the jacket as Jungkook picks up one of the business cards, reading over the words ‘manager’, the name of a model just below, and his contact info for all to see, “Park Jimin-sshi?”

Without looking at him, the man hummed in response, as if asking what he needs.

Jungkook glances up at him and his mouth dries instantly, both the man’s jacket and silk shirt were hanging on the back of the chair before them. He's only in his fitted pants and a short tank top, defined muscles running down his arms and slim build open for view.

Oh.

Oh.

Maybe spilling coffee was a wonderful thing in life?

Yes, totally.

The man—Jimin— looks over to him and smiles softly again, Jungkook's heart lurches, “You’re free to keep a card, if you like. But please don’t contact me asking for a dry cleaning bill, because I can assure that you won’t get one.”

The card slips into his pocket almost instantly, Jungkook’s cheeks are flushed as he stutters out a promise that he won’t. Jimin—wow what a pretty name—pulls another shirt from his bag and slips it on, already looking more comfortable than what he wore previously. He places the stained clothes carefully inside instead, keeping it away from a thick laptop also stuffed in.

For a brief moment one of the phones on the table lights up, it’s a bright red iPhone XR, which Jungkook remembers were being sold for charity. And wow, okay, maybe Jimin is just kinda perfect?

Except as soon as the screen glows, his heart stops.

Kim Namjoon’s face is staring back at him.

His dimpled smile is on display as he stares sweetly at the camera, dressed in a blue jacket with frills and a blue shirt under it. It’s an edited photo with two yellow drawn on cat ears on top of his head, colored whiskers on his cheeks and the older looking all kinds of adorable.

But why was his hyung on Jimin’s phone?

Jimin seems to glance at him, possibly curious on why he’s so quiet, and his eyes roll as soon as the delayed notification appears and covers Namjoon’s face.

It’s a set of text messages, all from ‘Joonie <3’ and Jungkook’s heart shrivels because of course someone beautiful like Jimin is dating someone as fantastic as his hyung—.

The other sighs as he picks up the phone, opening it quickly with a password as the messages opened, “Kim Taehyung, your boyfriend...”

And there’s blood roaring in Jungkook’s ears, heart stuttering as he remembers the phone call with Yoongi less than half an hour ago.

That’s right, Namjoon’s boyfriend is Taehyung

Jimin looks all kinds of apologetic, as if they were on a date and he had to explain himself to Jungkook. And wow, just that thought does things to him. “Sorry about that, my best friend is a model and I’m his manager. His boyfriend has a completely different schedule and while they’re busy I get to play middle man for them.” He mocks it like it’s nothing, but Jungkook is honestly kinda touched that he’s willing to go that far for his friends.

And maybe he’s completely smitten.

“Namjoon-hyung has no schedule.” He comments, catching Jimin by surprise as he continues, “He makes his own schedule, so I’m pretty sure he’s probably waiting for Taehyung to even breathe at him. He’s kinda romantic that way.”

Jimin seems clearly impressed and amused, if also a little curious, “You know Namjoon-hyung?”

“He’s one of my best friends.” Jungkook offers, pulling out his hyung’s business card from his wallet and flashes it at Jimin. Of course he would promote his best friend, and his wonderful works, which was part of the reason Jungkook moved to Seoul in the first place. “I was also planning on him being my mentor for a while, because his work is amazing.”

“Taehyung loves it a little too much.” Jimin cheekily offers, “Honestly it’s part of the reason he asked Namjoon to marry him on their second date.”

He laughs at the words, can completely imagine Namjoon flustered and red but glowing with obvious happiness as he suggests boyfriends first but is already secretly planning their wedding flowers. “I’m Jeon Jungkook, by the way.”

“You clearly know my name already,” The other comments, as he waves towards the business cards, “But still, it’s very nice to meet you. I’m sure your coffees are cold, why don’t I give you a lift back to wherever you’re going?”

And when he gets into Jaebum’s house ten minutes later, cheeks flushed and ignoring the teasing over the guy’s ice cold coffees, he thinks maybe Namjoon is more lucky than he realizes. Especially when just his name scores Jungkook a cute man’s phone number and a plan a few days later for a date.

Bless Kim Taehyung for coming into Kim Namjoon’s life.

✩✩✩✩✩

Seokjin is extremely annoyed he’s the last to get an actual confirmation of Kim Taehyung’s existence.

It’s not that he’s not happy for Namjoon, because of course he is, but he’s just worried because the other puts himself on a completely different pedestal when it comes to life. When others fail it’s okay, when others break up it’s fine, when others lose something it’s fixable. When any of it happens to Namjoon it’s suddenly the end of the world, he’ll throw himself into his studies and into his work to try to avoid it happening again. And maybe it reminds Seokjin of a little brother he must protect, and that’s why he’s worried over Namjoon losing himself into a relationship that almost no one has really heard of. Who will protect him if they break up? If they fight? How is he supposed to help mend the pieces if he doesn’t have a complete puzzle?

Maybe it’s a little annoying, and maybe he feels a bit bad for treating Namjoon like a child. But at the same time Namjoon is just a precious soul, someone who makes everyone feel that way. Even when they tease him and annoy him, he knows they’ll instantly be the first to his defense and the first to catch him when he falls.

Seokjin’s part-time job as a model was a bit random, but he enjoyed the small glimpses of limelight. He could never really commit to the entire job, too much to worry over in life and less and less time to accomplish personal things, but the jobs he did take were wonderful. He only ever took jobs in driving distance, and while not well-known to the outside world, in the modeling business in Seoul he was extremely popular.

Which is why he’s a bit sheepish when Kim Taehyung stands before him, wide eyes and cheeks flushed as he bows at the older and sings praises of his accomplishments.

“Really, Taehyung-sshi, it’s completely okay!” He offers, the name holds no real meaning for him, because there’s a surprising amount of Taehyung’s in Korea. “You’re quite a famous model yourself, please hold your head up too!”

Taehyung smiles wide at him, a boxy adorable thing that covers up half his face.

Within minutes they’re in the makeup chair, gossiping like kids in a schoolyard, and Seokjin’s completely smitten like a mother to a child. The younger is sweet, courteous to the workers, and works extremely hard with whatever they ask of him. His manager Jimin is just as caring, offering to get coffee made for the whole crew as thanks for hiring them, taking requests for any of the models when Taehyung asks for lunch from a place nearby, and generally just cheering them all on.

He understands why people sing high praises when they work with Taehyung, the duo make it all feel effortless and they put their love and care into their work.

Hours pass by quickly, Jimin bringing in lunch and introducing Seokjin to a new restaurant nearby with amazing udon noodles while Taehyung devours his like his life depends on it. Seokjin may or may not be cooing over how cute the younger is when he pats his stomach tenderly, telling Jimin his ‘soft tummy is stretched’ and how happy his boyfriend will be because of it. It’s actually really cute how easily he mentions boyfriend, and how he doesn’t seem to mind if someone were to disapprove of that lifestyle.

Jimin takes their empty containers and hands Taehyung his cell phone for the rest of their break before he heads off to deposit them in the correct disposals.

Taehyung decides to show Seokjin pictures of his recent trip to Los Angeles by the time the manager walks away, pointing out hotspots and commenting that he was thankful his boyfriend knew enough English to translate even just a call away in Seoul.

Seokjin almost cries at how cute Taehyung is when he talks about his boyfriend, mentioning the other’s favorites or comments as he points through each picture. Any picture he swipes to he’s mentioning the other, recommendations and sweet words passing the time easily.

It’s five minutes before their break ends that Taehyung gets a call, covering the picture of a sleeping cat they were looking at in the photo roll. The screen goes black with ‘Joonie <3’ appearing in bold white text.

Taehyung actually squeals as he accepts the call, ignoring the fond looks of staff as he puts it on low-volume speaker and cries out about how he was just talking about his boyfriend. The staff doesn’t seem to mind that he’s on the phone, probably expecting the loud volume with past co-workers, but Taehyung respects that they’re still at work and Seokjin is very fond and proud.

Seokjin’s whole world spins, however, as Kim Namjoon chuckles over the line. It tilts to a stop as his friend begins speaking about musical terms and how a song is being difficult but he can’t figure it out.

Like a sweet boyfriend, Taehyung is completely listening, letting Namjoon finish his rant before he speaks out. “Go take a nap Joonie, the song will still be there when you wake up. It sounds like you need it.”

Namjoon lets out an exhausted sigh over the line, “But it’s our song, baby, I want it to be perfect.

Oh.

Wow.

Kim Seokjin may be crying.

“Our song can wait, I’m not leaving yet.” Taehyung laughs, deep and rich, “We still have time before I need to go to my next photo shoot out of the country.”

There’s another sigh over the line, it sounds like Namjoon’s face is in his hands as he rubs his temples to try to wake himself up a little more, “But I wanted to present it in a few nights, you know, after the party.”

The party. The party all Namjoon’s friends will be attending considering he was getting a small raise and a bunch of praise for his first top five Naver search under his new promotion. Which meant Taehyung would be there as well, and it made him realize that was when Namjoon planned to show Taehyung off to them.

After a few minutes of push and shove from the couple, a staff calls that it’s the end of break, and Namjoon realizes they’re going back to work. He cooed over the younger doing a great job today, claiming that he’ll see him when he gets to the apartment, and that they’ll order his favorite food for dinner.

Seokjin snatches Taehyung’s phone from his hand, the younger stares in surprise as the older croaks out, “Kim Namjoon you’ve got a lot of explaining to do and you better treasure this boy or I will be coming after you.”

Hyung?!” Is the surprised word from Namjoon, “You’re at that shoot too?!

“We’re going back on set but you best be prepared to love this boy as he deserves!”

Taehyung is grinning wide, Seokjin returns the smile and the staff give them a few extra minutes as they snuggle each other while Namjoon hangs up under promises of seeing them later.

✩✩✩✩✩

Later when their stomachs are completely full and they’re cuddling in bed, Taehyung offers Namjoon a sweet smile with the words, “Your friends are very nice, hyung.”

The older is a little confused, as Taehyung’s never mentioned any of their previous meetings, but he smiles back, “I can’t wait for them all to meet you, they’re gonna love you.”

Taehyung leans forward and buries his face into the man’s neck, breathing in deeply before releasing out a comfortable sigh, “If they’re anything like you, I’m gonna adore the fuck out of them.”

Namjoon laughs at his words, his hands slipping under Taehyung’s shirt to lovingly brush his thumbs across the younger’s hip bones, “At least you’ve met Jin, he’s the biggest of the hurdles.”

“He was a giant pushover.” The younger supplies cheekily, smiling against the other’s collarbone, “I was so surprised when you said he’s sassy, he took care of me so well on set.”

“I’ll be the first to buy a copy of the magazine.” He stresses, Taehyung’s giggling leaving tingles up his spine as the younger’s lips brush across his skin, “Even if you’re already giving me a free copy, of course I’m going to support your work.”

For a moment they giggle together and Taehyung takes that moment to look up at him with soft eyes, “Hyung, did you decide about me moving in with you?”

Namjoon pretends to scratch his cheek briefly, the younger mock swats at him while the older laughs, “I figured you may as well move in then.” He pretends to deep sigh as the younger looks up brightly at him, “Besides, in like four months your lease in your tiny ass apartment is up and this one is nearly triple its size.”

Taehyung takes the moment to shoot back teasingly, “So you’re dating me because of your size kink?”

The older stutters as his face flushes red, Taehyung laughs as he moves to sit on the older’s legs and lean down enough to press warm kisses against Namjoon’s lips.

Namjoon’s fingers grip his hips tightly in support, giving noises of amusement as Taehyung nips at his bottom lip and tugs gently. He sits up as the younger reaches down his back, fingers trailing across the sleep shirt Namjoon's wearing. Taehyung grabs the end of the shirt and tugs, pulling it up and over Namjoon’s head while the older leans over to kiss him again.

When their lips connect the younger smiles against them and murmurs in quiet English, “Claim me, Namjoon.

The older growls, hips thrusting upwards at a steady pace as the younger mewls out in enjoyment. His hands trail over the warm skin under the younger’s shirt, leaving trails of burning skin as Taehyung scratches meekly at his back.

In quick movements they’re undressed and positioned, Taehyung weakly lets go of the container of nearly empty lube in favor of clutching Namjoon’s shoulders as he slides in. Namjoon kisses up his neck as he brings Taehyung to pleasure, teeth scraping the underside of his jaw as he calls out ‘come’ in perfect English. The younger cries out in pleasure, bending into him just enough that he milks the older into orgasm.

They stay in that same position for a brief moment, Namjoon moves up to kiss both of Taehyung’s eyelids as he murmurs out a quick, “I love you.”

Taehyung’s eyes are glowing in the dim bedroom lights as they look back at him, he curls his arms around Namjoon’s neck and pulls him closer, “I love you more.”

And maybe Namjoon realizes that he’s ready for that wedding the younger offered him so long ago.

✩✩✩✩✩

Kim Taehyung basically glistened at the party, eye shadow and cheeks dusted with faint traces of glitter and entire wardrobe and makeup looking like he just finished a photo shoot.

And maybe Seokjin’s looking like a proud mom as Namjoon leads the younger to their circle of friends, Taehyung’s hand resting firmly on the older’s elbow as their arms entwined. Jimin whistles teasingly from his spot near Jungkook, the younger’s arm wrapped comfortably around his date’s waist.

The younger is formally introduced to Namjoon’s friends, and while Yoongi and Jungkook may not know fashion, they can tell Taehyung’s suit costs more than both their outfits combined. Yoongi jokingly makes money signs with his hands when the younger turns to greet Hoseok again, Namjoon wrinkles his nose in distaste at him.

Hoseok is as bright as the sun as he announces he was the first to meet Taehyung, and he just knew they would be great friends upon that first elevator ride. The younger laughs and rests a hand on Hoseok’s arm for a quick moment before glancing at the others.

Jungkook’s cheeks flush quietly, he stiffens as he realizes this is his chance to impress his date’s best friend and his best friend’s lover, and he chokes out a greeting and compliment.

Taehyung smiles softly at him, but his eyes are coy and bright as he remembers the gossip both Namjoon and Jimin have told him, “Oh right, the Overwatch nerd.”

The low noise of embarrassment Jungkook releases may or may not go down in their friendship history as one of the funniest things in the world. They’re all practically in tears in the middle of the room, company workers and other musicians giving them odd looks amongst all the laughter.

Finally Taehyung takes pity on him and mentions that he plays the game too, they spend the moment sharing strategies together as Namjoon gets looks of approval from all his friends.

“I’m not gonna lie,” Yoongi starts, cheeks flushed in amusement as he swiftly locks hands and fingers with Hoseok's, “I was surprised you managed to find someone like him.”

Namjoon smiles softly, stealing loving glances towards Taehyung before he looks back to his friends, “I didn’t expect to meet someone like him either, especially not after I spilled my drink all over his camera.”

Seokjin gives him a look, “I finally remembered when I saw that Instagram post that you have that same ugly striped shirt as the one in Taehyung’s pictures. I can’t believe I didn’t know it was you considering they barely sold that disgusting mess and you were like, the only person in Korea to buy it.”

He makes an offended noise at the older’s words, his friends chuckling, “Taehyung likes that shirt.”

“Oh please, Joon,” The oldest retaliates, “Nobody likes that shirt, Taehyung likes you.”

Namjoon rolls his eyes, hands flying in the air for a brief moment before he’s quickly apologizing as he nearly smacks a waitress walking by with a tray of champagne. His friends laugh but he continues on what he wanted to say, “So you guys met him, he’s real, and now all you can do is pick on me instead of introduce yourselves?!”

“We have the entire night,” Yoongi waves his hand dismissively, “Besides, you should be happy we approve.”

There’s a flush on Namjoon’s cheeks as Taehyung makes his way back to his side, reaching over to place a gentle kiss on the older’s cheek. His friends coo at him before grinning, and he considers, yeah, he’s so glad they approve.

Kim Taehyung is worth everything.

Notes:

Of course the song Namjoon is making is 4 O'Clock because that is an incredible piece of work and one of my absolute favorite songs.
