when acusations are hidden

Summary:

when hero's go to court it is kept under wraps but it can never be truly silenced.

Notes:

hey this is a little bit that I wrote covering some of Izukus blackmail material that's mentioned in chapter 16. I will say it now, I have no idea how court actually works so the facts are all probably wrong but hey it sounds good in the story. there is more blackmail that Izuku has some of it better... some of it worse and I might write it as well.
hope you like :)

Work Text:

Bakugou stood upright in front of the small-time judge in front of him. It was not the first time he had been taken to court, but this could have been the most damaging accusation that he had faced. A pathetic villain was trying to get him sent to jail for attacking his family and causing excessive damage to his property. If he was so worried about his family and stuff why did he become a fucking villain, after all he was just doing his job catching said villain.

This whole trial was kept on the low down, with everyone directly involved entering contracts that prevented them from telling the outside world about what occurs within the courtroom and the people who did find out and came to watch… they were threatened into silence by hard glares and flashes of quirk.

Bakugou knew that it was important to present himself in a certain way during his testimony, ensuring that the majority of the blame would be put against the villain or the police rather than him. He couldn’t afford to be sent to jail for this; it would affect his career too much and that was the most important thing to Bakugou.

The judge briefly looked over the sheet of paper in front of him, a rough outline of the case and what the prosecutors want.

“do you admit that the damage occurred to both bodily and to the prosecution’s property was down to you?”

“I do not, your honour, I was just doing my duty to catch a villain and to make the world a safer place”

“do you then admit that the action you took was excessive to the crimes that the prosecution committed?”

“I do not your honour, I was called on to the scene and not told of the crimes he had committed only that he needed to be caught, your honour.”

“would you agree then, that the fault of this incident falls on those who did not correctly brief you before you were allowed to act?”

“I would your honour, if I had known the full details I would have acted differently” Bakugou knew that regardless of what he had known at the time, he wouldn’t have changed how he acted. That was not what the judge or jury wanted, or needed, to hear, so he would tell them a truth that they wanted to hear. He would pretend that that negligible chance was a chance.

“if that is truly the case, then I call up the inspector whose job it was to inform Ground Zero of the details of the mission to explain what he said” the tone in the judges voice told everyone in the room that he believed that it was the fault of the police. After all Ground Zero was a hero.

At this Bakugou sat back down and started to zone out again, with the blame of the whole incident being moved onto the police and the villain himself. He heard barely anything as the police inspector was grilled about his participation of the incident until a hammer hit the table.

“the jury will now adjourn to discuss the verdict.”

With that the court room emptied and Aziawa came to collect him from the front of the room.

“At this rate we will only have to pay for the hospital and repair bills and this time we will be able to keep it out of press, but it can’t happen again Bakugou.”

It had taken the jury less than twenty minuet to decide.

“I will now declare the Hero: Ground Zero’s verdict. He has been found guilty. Although we have decided that he did use excessive force we understand that it was due to unforeseen circumstances surrounding the incident we have decide that he will only be liable to pay all hospital fees and cover the cost of repair to the damaged property. As the defendant has been arrested and jailed for his crimes, the money for this shall go to his wife a family. Court adjourned.”

The hammer fall ended the session and a small smirk creeped onto Bakugou’s face. He had gotten away with it, no prison time to go on his record and another villain capture to his name, its not like he would actually lose any money for this. This kind of incident was covered under the insurance that Aizawa’s hero company had. He marched out head held high in the air and a fake look of repentance on his face. Had anyone taken time to look closely they would have seen how fake it was.

Behind him a teen ran into the arms of a white-haired man. His golden eyes narrowed to slits glaring a Ground Zero’s retreating back. Just another hero who has gotten off the hook. Another family denied the justice they deserved. Just another day in this brilliant world of wonders.

Ari slammed open the door to the bar, he had only moved in a few months ago and Izuku had just been there for two weeks when he needed a base for his new ‘job’. He was pissed at the trails result. Dabi was pissed at the trails result and Izuku had no idea what was going on. Ari slammed down a glass of something strong. He didn’t even know what was in it just that it was strong.

“fucking Ground Zero, bastard gets away with everything even with that smug look on his face.” Ari ranted.

Izuku flipped through a notebook that was on one of the tables.

“that guy always got away with stuff that nobody else would.” He opened a clear page in the notebook “tell me everything Ari, and eventually we’ll find a reason to crush him.” A sadistic smile appeared on Izuku’s face. When the time was right, he would get back at his childhood bully who became what a hero should not be.
