It was a cold night at the lonely manor in the deepest, calm yet terrifying forest. Inside the manor lived a vampire with silver and fluffy hair. He dressed in beautiful red and black clothes with a bat-like cape from his shoulder with many golden and luxury accessories on his clothes.
He sighed and looked at the glass in his right hand that filled with red wine. “It’s so lonely in here. I can even hear my own breath loud and clear” The vampire put his glass on the table while looking at the dark sky full of stars. “Well.. At least I can entertain myself by looking at those beautiful stars”. He smiled.
Not long after that, he heard the front door of his manor has been opened by someone. The vampire was curious but he kept on guard, thinking that it could be the vampire hunter since there were a lot of vampire hunters lately. The vampire slowly walked to the front door, preparing his left-hand sharp claw. Preparing for any sudden attack.
When he heard footsteps coming from the corner of his manor, he quickly dash towards where the sound was, grab the person’s neck while pointing his sharp claws right in front of his face. “WHO DARES TO ENTER MY MANOR?!” The vampire shouted, hoping he could have frightened this person but there was nothing. The vampire couldn't see the person face too since it was too dark to see but he felt something soft near his hand.
‘What… is this soft hair…? Last time I checked, humans don't have soft hair unless… it’s not a human’ The vampire thought to himself. Since the other human or whatever it is didn’t answer his question, he tried to shout again. “ANSWER ME! WHO ARE YOU?!”
It felt like forever before the vampire got his answered. “N-Naib. S-smlel foo” The vampire was confused on every word he said. At least one thing that he can understand was his name was Naib, right?
The vampire then decided to take naib into somewhere else where he could see his face. He brought the man, still by grabbing his neck but naib didn’t struggle at all. ‘hmm that’s weird?’ the vampire thought. Finally the vampire arrived at the place where it’s bright enough to see his face. When the vampire look at his face, it shocked him. Naib is half wolf half human. He wore a wolf head hat on his head and dark-red short pants and plus he’s shirtless. The vampire couldn’t see his face since the wolf head covered all naib head. “You.. are not human either?” The vampire asked.
Naib can only give the vampire a confused look like he was trying to understand the question. The two of them were silent since no one can understand each other. The only thing that broke the silence between them was the loud growl in Naib stomach. “So,, you’re hungry? I can give you food if you want. Come on” The vampire didn’t need any answer from Naib hand since it would be useless anyway. So the vampire took Naib right hand and lead him into the dining room. He did still have some food left at least it could satisfy naib stomach for now.
When they arrived at the dinner room, Jack pulled back a chair and gestured naib to sit here. Naib was hesitant at first whether he should trust this person or not. Jack seem to notice this and he smiled at the little wolf or boy. “It’s okay little Naib. I won’t hurt you I promise. I know Im a vampire but I have a heart too”
Seeing the vampire gentle smile and gesture made Naib smiled too. Somehow Naib smile made the vampire felt weird. Felt like there was a butterfly in his stomach. He hadn’t felt something like this in a long time. When was the last time he ever felt something? oh yeah thousand years ago since he decided to lock himself up in this manor all by himself just to protect the tome.
When Naib already sat, Jack also sat beside him. The vampire handed him a few meal such as potato, bread, and of course Naib needed meat. When Naib started to dig in, it was such a cute sight to see Naib eating with his hands. Even though the way Naib ate was really messy but it didn’t bother Jack at all. In fact, he felt happy somehow.
“Well eat as much as you like. I still have more if you still hungry” The vampire said. Minutes had passed since Naib eat. Naib looked around and stop at the vampire face. Naib kept on staring at his face for a long time before the vampire asked “Is there something wrong?”. Naib only answered by gesturing his hand, pointing towards the vampire. At first, the vampire was confused but then it hit him. ‘Maybe he wants to know my name?’ the vampire thought.
“My name?” The vampire pointed to himself and Naib nodded. “Well my name is Jack. J a c k”. Naib tilted his head a bit before mimicking Jack “j-jak?” The vampire nodded. “Yes it’s Jack or Jak whatever it’s easier for you to call me”.
“Jak! Jak! Jak!” Naib kept on calling jack like some little kid calling for his parents with such a cheerful voice. It did hit Jack ‘Oh my this kid is so pure and cute’ Jack Thought. Naib then continued his eating until there was nothing left.
When Naib already finished his food, Naib jump back down and ran into Jack. Giving Jack a surprised tight hug. “Anks Jak!” Naib also snuggled into Jack neck like some kind of little dog wanted to get affection and attention from its master. Jack chuckled at his action and brought his hand to pet Naib’s head. “You’re welcome little Naib”
Jack was the first one who broke their hug but he still petting Naib head. “So.. Why are you here in the first place? and starving like that?” Jack asked. Naib only looked at Jack again, quietly and fell silent for a while. He was thinking about what should he answered it. “Ome…. Destro” Naib said. Jack was trying to understand it a little bit. “Your home was destroyed? By who?”
“Uman…. Kil.. Wolf pak” Naib pointed to himself “Naib.. Wolfpak”
ah….
Jack can understand it now. Humans were destroying Naib home and also his family which was his wolfpack. ‘I guess his family is a wolf. Well, that explained the way he clothes is just like a wolf’ Jack thought to himself. Jack felt pity towards the little boy. He knew humans can be selfish. They would kill anything just to survive for themselves. Jack knew it soo well about human nature and their desire. Well, to be fair he already lived for a thousand years anyway.
Naib let out a little sniff “Miss.. family.. my mother and brothers” Jack quickly hug Naib again, trying to calm down the boy “oh there there little Naib. It’s okay shh shh” sniff become sobs as Naib tried his best not to cry but he just lost his family. The more he remembered about the pain of loss, the more hurt he was.
“Hey there there little Naib. Come on don’t cry” Jack wipe the tears from Naib cheek with his two hands. Slowly stroke his cheek, hoping that he could calm down a bit. After a few minutes full of comfort and cries, Naib sobs slowly died down into small sniffles and eventually tired himself into sleep in Jack's arms. “He.. fell asleep while crying?”
Jack took a deep breath as he stood up carefully. Trying not to wake up little naib in his arms. He led him to one of the guest bedrooms in his manor. Then he put Naib on the bed and pull the sheet up to his shoulder. Naib still let out a few sniffs and tears even in his sleep. Guess the memories of his dead family was too painful for him. Well he had the wolf nature after all.
Jack tried again to calm the little wolf boy with stroking his shoulder while saying gentle words such as “I’m here” or “You’re safe here with me”. He knew he had just met this boy a few hours ago but for some reason, he wanted to keep this boy safe and sound especially from those humans who wanted to hunt him. Jack wanted to make Naib happy for the rest of his life. He had enough seeing Naib crying like that before. He will make sure while he’s still here, he will make sure that anything won’t harm Naib. He will make sure of that.
“Sleep tight little Naib. I’ll see you later”
