Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

Shamiko was sick and had to stay home from school. She stayed asleep in bed while her mother went to fill in her friends. These friends did not include Momo, a decision that had serious ramifications.

Around one hour after school started, a heavy thud slammed into the apartment door of the Yoshida household. Seiko Yoshida found her door blasted open by powerful magical energy.

"Shamiko! Shamiko what happened!?" Magical girl Momo called, entering the house without so much a hello. Momo was confronted by an angry mother Seiko, who stopped her in her tracks and made her remove her footwear first. Momo, despite her clear distress, followed orders. While the fact that her door was now broken angered Seiko, couldn't help but be amused by Momo's worry.

Momo quickly discovered that Shamiko was fast asleep, despite the explosion of Momo's landing. After Seiko explained Shamiko had no serious illness, the girl looked painfully apologetic. Momo transformed out of her magical girl state and fixed the door herself. Apparently, she misunderstood something a friend had said.

It was adorable. Seiko couldn't help but gush over this powerful magical girl's shyness. It was good to know Momo cared for her daughter's well-being.

When everything was cleared up, Momo seemed hesitant to go back to school. Liking where this was going, Seiko made a spot decision.

"Would you like to watch over Shamiko?" Seiko asked. Momo agreed very quickly, earning a smirk from the mother. "Alright then i'll be going out for some errands. If she wakes up tell her i'll be back soon." As Seiko went to leave, she had an idea. She leaned over to Momo and whispered in her ear, "whenever you two are ready, you have my blessing."

Momo blushed deeply at this but denied nothing. In fact, Seiko had the feeling Momo was pleased by this new information. Was she truly a magical girl? To think her innocent daughter had found someone so shameless...

It was after school when Shamiko visited. Momo had stayed from school due to sickness, and Shamiko decided to return the favor.

When Momo answered the door, it was clear she wasn't feeling well. She had a droopy feeling to her expression, and when she spoke her voice had the tiniest rasp in it.

"Good afternoon." Momo said.

"Momo! You're sick."

"Ya... sorry." Momo said, not looking directly at the demon girl. "You shouldn't come too close today."

"Ueh? But now I get to take care of you."

Momo seemed to pale a little. "You don't need to do that, I'm fine."

"Eeeeeh?" Shamiko said, adopting a smug look. She scooted closer, her tail curving around Momo's back. "Are you embarrassed?"

"No, I feel perfectly normal." Momo deadpanned.

"Aww Momo~ Don't worry, today Shamiko will be your caretaker~"

"I'd rather die."

"I'll cook you dinner."

This gave Momo pause, but only for a fraction of a second.

"What are you scheming all of a sudden." Momo asked.

This made Shamiko stamp her feet. "Momo~ Let me in so I can take care of you! What do I have to do?"

"Switch into your crisis management form." Momo said immediately. Shamiko grabbed her horns in despair. She couldn't believe Momo would resort to such tactics!

"You know I can't use crisis management form on demand!" She exclaimed.

"Then... just cuddle with me."

"Oh." Shamiko's expression fixed instantly. "OK."

Shamiko stepped inside, a look of glee across her face. She then ran off to the kitching yelling, "Time to make a meal to make Momo smile!" Momo froze. While Shamiko pure adorableness was worth all the money in the world, it conflicted with her desires for independence. In the end adorableness won of course. Momo decided to protect Shamiko's feelings more than her own.

Th room was a lot comfier, and the two girls much lazier. They had already eaten and lay together on Momo's couch with the TV on.

"Shamiko?"

"Yes Momo?"

"I love you."

"Uah!" Shamiko exclaimed. She looked at Momo's deadpan face, finding no emotion. Until Momo turned smug.

"Well?" She said, asking for something in return.

"I l... lo...looo..."

"Haha, can't do it huh?"

"I'm a demon! We don't deal with mortal love!"

"I guess I’m never going to hear it huh?"

Silence took over the room. Then, very quickly, Shamiko whispered, "I love you too."

The two were close together, wrapped in a blanket. Momo didn't miss it.

Notes:

I don't know why I didn't immediately make them girlfriends. I probably should have. So far this manga is begging for them to get married, but I doubt the author will ever go through with it. These anime gays never properly get together.
