"you know it's kinda funny." jungkook said, a chuckle leaving his lips.
"what?"
"we've only started to get closer, and now youre just going to leave." jungkook smiled bitterly, resting his head on the grass after locking eyes with the small boy beside him.
jimin's expression soften. his eyes still glued on the boy with a bitter smile, lying down next to him.
the stars they were under only shined brighter in jungkook's eyes, or was it the tears? jimin didn't know.
"you know i can't control it. control whatever this is." jimin said softly, his hand slowly resting on jungkook's palm as he laid beside the younger.
maybe it's the sadness, maybe it's jimins hand in his palm but whatever it is, jungkook's heart was beating so hard.
he returned the gesture by squeezing jimin's little hand, it was so small against his.
"i guess the universe just hates us, huh jimin." jungkook sighed. he turned towards the boy whom he had come to love dearly, their eyes meeting.
"i guess so. at least we get to meet, dont we?" jimin smiled, the smile he had given to jungkook all these months theyve been together.
he hasnt much time left, soon he'll be back to whatever realm he was supposed to be, leaving jungkook behind.
it was jimins fault. he shouldnt have fallen in love in the first place. he shouldnt have walked up to jungkook when he had first came to earth.
jimin wasnt an alien. he was a spirit. a spirit given a chance by god to accomplish his mission on earth, to fix his past mistakes.
yet, sure he had to be dumb enough to fall in love.
"jimin, please dont forget me. you wont forget me right?" jungkook said almost pleadingly, his eyes welling up. in that instant, jimin's heart broke.
"of course. i can never forget you. youre my everything now, gguk." he lets out a saddened smile, his hands squeezing jungkook's.
but the thing is, as soon as jimin leaves, he won't remember a thing.
"let's just stay like this. i want to stay like this. i want to remember you like this. i want to remember us in this moment." jungkook smiled, a tear falling down his cheek.
jimin only nodded, unable to speak as tears went down his cheeks.
their foreheads touched and slowly their lips were brought up against the other.
their lips slowly melt together, not a fight nor a competition. they only touched and it was so innocent it could break hell. a kiss so pure it could challenge heaven.
they knew it was their last kiss. it was a delicate moment to treasure, one that theyre too afraid of breaking. thats why its sad as much as its happy.
as soon as its over, theyre out of breath. the saltiness of their tears remained in their mouths as they stare at each other with red eyes and lost hope. they stared at each other with goodbyes and little moments. they stared at each other as they glow in the others eyes.
forehead to forehead. hand in hand.
this was all they could do.
jungkook watched as jimin fades slowly, his hand no longer can be felt, his forehead only felt like wind, his body starting to disappear as objects can be seen through him.
jimin smiled, wanted to say it was okay but the fact is its not. nothing was okay and nothing was going to be. so instead, he said the only words he knew.
"i love you." such a saddened smile plastered on his face was illegal. no one should be smiling when they were this sad.
and jungkook could only reach out, only to fail at reaching jimin, only to cry out i love you too in the middle of the field, where he was left alone in the darkness of the night, bawling his eyes out at the realization of jimin who had left him.
and only the stars were the witness of their love that night, the way they had touched softly, the way they had kissed, the way they smiled at each other so painfully yet they were so happy but sadly, only the stars know.
truly, they couldnt do anything.
