Work Text:
“Aaaaaand, cut!” Okuyasu called while hitting the stop button on the video camera he was holding. The image of Josuke sitting on the lip of a fountain while holding his guitar that he’d been looking at through the viewing window gained a big “pause” symbol over it, his view shifting over to the real thing. “I’ve always wanted to say that. Did I sound like a director?” He asked the other boy with a chuckle while heading over to join him at the fountain.
“Yeah, totally.” Josuke chuckled, setting his guitar down carefully on the ground beside him as he took the camera that Okuyasu handed to him.
Okuyasu took a seat next to his boyfriend on the lip of the fountain and pressed in close to his side so he could see the little screen on the camera as well when Josuke started to review the footage he’d just shot. “So, how’d I do? I know it’s probably not as good as when Jotaro does it, but-”
“Babe, it looks great.” Josuke cut him off and turned his head to give the other boy a kiss on the cheek, allowing him to see the bright smile on his face. “I really owe you one. Sorry for calling you up at the last minute like this.”
Okuyasu grinned, his cheeks turning just the tiniest bit red. “It’s not a big deal, I wasn’t doing anything, anyway.” He wrapped his arm around Josuke’s shoulders and held him even closer against his side. “Besides, any excuse to hang out with you is good enough for me!”
Josuke chuckled at his boyfriend’s enthusiasm and gave him another kiss before getting to his feet, dragging the other boy up with him by the arm still around his shoulders. “So, would a free thank-you lunch be a good excuse to keep hanging out with me?”
“You had me at lunch!” Okuyasu replied with a laugh, helping Josuke put his guitar back in its case so they could head downtown to find a place to eat.
The call from Josuke had come out of nowhere, asking if Okuyasu could help him with his next video. Usually, he got Jotaro or Jolyne to help him with his projects, but they both got stuck at work last minute and had to cancel on him. Luckily for him, and Okuyasu, the other boy had swapped shifts at work with one of his coworkers and ended up free that afternoon, meaning they got to enjoy each other’s company and that Josuke had someone free to shoot the footage he needed.
Okuyasu definitely didn’t mind helping Josuke out with his videos in the slightest. Like he said earlier, any excuse to hang out with his boyfriend was good enough for him. Besides, he LOVED watching Josuke perform. The way he played, the way his voice sounded when he sang- there was just something pure and enchanting about it all that made Okuyasu fall in love with the other boy a little bit more every time he heard him. Plus he got to joke and say that he was dating an internet-famous musician, how many people could claim that?
But, as they reached the restaurant district of the downtown area, Okuyasu was reminded of the downsides of dating a celebrity, even if it was just someone who was mostly famous online…
“Oh my gosh!” A female voice called out in surprise before a girl around their age suddenly ran up to them, looking at Josuke with an excited smile. “Aren’t you Jo⭐️?!”
Josuke smiled politely at the girl. “Yep, that’s me. Nice to meet you!”
The girl squealed and pulled out her phone. “I am SUCH a fan! Can I get a picture?!”
Josuke chuckled, all too used to this by now. “Yeah, sure.”
“Thanks!” The girl got in close to Josuke and threw her arm around his neck, having to stand up on her tiptoes so they could both be in the selfie when she hit the button.
“……” Okuyasu quietly backed away and watched the scene from a foot or so away, not wanting to intrude on their moment. He was pretty sure they wouldn’t want him in the picture, anyway…
Once she got the picture, the girl let go of Josuke and looked at her phone with an excited grin. “This is the best day ever- all of my friends are gonna be so jealous!” She giggled while posting the picture online and adding tags to it before looking up at Josuke with a slightly shier smile- one of those falsely innocent looks that was used as a segue to flirting. “Sooo, what are you doing out here, anyway?”
“Just shooting a new video and grabbing a bite with my boyfriend.” Josuke replied, taking a moment to look around and realizing that Okuyasu wasn’t right next to him anymore. Seeing the other boy’s posture and the look on his face made Josuke frown slightly and he moved closer so he could hold Okuyasu’s hand with a soft smile. “Come on babe, let’s get some grub- I’m starving.” He waved at the girl with his other hand, not giving her a chance to reply as he walked away. “Have a great day!” Once they were far enough away, Josuke gave the other boy’s hand a gentle squeeze while looking him in the eyes. “Dude, it’s okay to tell me if something’s bugging you. If taking selfies like that bothers you, then-”
“No, it’s fine.” Okuyasu said, giving Josuke his best attempt at a smile, even if he didn’t really feel it.
He hated feeling jealous of Josuke’s fans. They were essentially just strangers online who only liked him for his voice and his good looks. They didn’t know him, not like how Okuyasu knew him. Josuke wasn’t embarrassed by Okuyasu, either- he was always very open about their relationship and there were pictures of him all over Josuke’s various social media feeds, all of them openly calling him his boyfriend. Most of his fans seemed to ignore those posts, though, still trying to flirt with him whenever they met him in person, even if Okuyasu was standing RIGHT THERE. Josuke always ignored their flirting, but it still bugged Okuyasu to no end that these people essentially wrote him off like they weren’t actually dating or something. It was petty and stupid and he knew it, but he couldn’t help the way he felt.
They ended up picking a restaurant with an outdoor patio, Josuke deciding to sit outside so they could enjoy the pleasant weather together- especially since no one else was sitting outside at the moment. They ordered their appetizers and talked while they waited, Josuke clearly trying to take Okuyasu’s mind off of what happened earlier while Okuyasu tried to pretend that he wasn’t still bothered by it.
After a while, Josuke started to notice a small crowd of people watching them from outside of the fenced-in patio, a few of which already had their phones out. With a sly smile, an idea came to him and he opened up his guitar case, pulling out his iconic and appropriately named pink ivory acoustic guitar, the Pink Diamond. It may not have been as flashy as his electric guitar, Crazy D., but it was well-known enough from his videos that several people watching instantly gasped and started recording.
Josuke didn’t look at them, though- his attention went completely to his boyfriend as he looped the shoulder strap on and stood with the guitar in his hands. Okuyasu was confused at first, watching as the other boy started to gently strum out the notes of a song while walking around to Okuyasu’s side of the table.
After a moment, that angelic voice that Okuyasu loved to hear began to sing along with the tune, making him melt when it was combined with the adoring look that Josuke gave him.
“I love you too much..To live without you loving me back. I love you too much- heaven's my witness and this is a fact.
I know I belong…when I sing this song…There's love above, love and it's ours- 'cause I love you too much…
I live for your touch..I whisper your name night after night. I love you too much..There's only one feeling and I know it’s right.
I know I belong…when I sing this song…There's love above, love and it's ours- 'cause I love you too much…
Heaven knows your name, I've been praying to have you come here by my side. Without you a part of me is missing. Just to make you my own, I will fight.
I know I belong…when I sing this song…There's love above, love and it's ours- 'cause I love you too much…
I loooooove you too much! I love you too much. Heaven's my witness and this is a fact. You live in my soul…Your heart is my goal…
There's love above, love and it's mine 'cause I love you!
There's love above, love and it's yours ‘cause I love you!
There's love above, love and it's ours……if you love me as much…”
He ended the song by sliding his guitar around behind himself after the final chord and leaning down to give Okuyasu a passionate, loving kiss on the lips that conveyed every sentiment he just expressed with his song.
There were shocked gasps and the sound of camera’s clicking from the crowd, but Josuke continued to ignore them- the only gasp that mattered was the one his boyfriend let out when he kissed him.
For his part, Okuyasu was putty in the other boy’s hands. That voice always made his heart melt and turned his brain to mush. Combining that with the loving gaze that had been on him the whole time AND the love he could feel in the kiss? Needless to say, his brain had effectively shut down and he was on cloud nine.
When Josuke eventually broke the kiss, both of their cheeks tinted red by that point, he cupped Okuyasu’s cheeks tenderly in his hands and whispered to him. “I love you too much…so much more than anyone else in the whole world…”
Okuyasu could feel tears beading up in the corners of his eyes, but he wiped them away and instead wrapped his arms around Josuke’s waist, slipping them under the guitar at his back. “I love you too…” Finally taking notice of the crowd that had been taking pictures and filming them, a sneaky grin found its way to Okuyasu’s face as he stood up. “Way more than any of THEM ever could..”
He tightened his grip on Josuke and, before the other boy had a chance to question what he was about to do, he was pulled into another kiss- one even more deep and passionate than before. He dipped Josuke back, easily holding him up as the other boy clung to his shoulders. Okuyasu wasn’t normally the type to stake a claim, he hated the idea of treating someone he loved as if they were property he could claim the rights to, but he felt like showing off in front of the onlookers and the people who would see all of this online later.
Despite his earlier surprise, Josuke quickly returned the kiss, matching the amount of passion his boyfriend put into it and loving every moment of the possessive display. By the time it was over, Josuke had one hand resting on the back of Okuyasu’s head, one leg braced against Okuyasu’s hip for balance, and a much brighter blush across his cheeks and the tips of his ears. “Oku..” He sighed, gazing up at his boyfriend with a dazed smile on his face.
Okuyasu grinned, partly out of pride and partly out of love, and looked at the crowd. “See that?” He held Josuke close for emphasis as he spoke. “I’m Jo⭐️’s boyfriend, Nijimura Okuyasu! I’m the only one who gets to date him and kiss him like this, so the rest of you can just go home!”
Josuke threw his head back and let out a loud laugh, looking upside down at the crowd with a grin that matched his boyfriend’s. “Sorry, folks, but he’s right- I’m a one-partner kind of guy and I am VERY happily spoken for!”
They both laughed in amusement and met each other halfway for another kiss that was less demanding, but just as loving and passionate as before. Josuke would probably have a million notifications by the end of the day from upset fans and people complaining about his “preferences”, but he couldn’t be bothered to care about that.
There was only one fan that truly mattered to him, and that was his number one fan:
Okuyasu, the one who would know and love him more than any other fan could ever hope to.
