Through Lens

Summary:

Castiel just can't keep his eyes off the model, and maybe the model is returning the favor.

Notes:

un-betaed, I wrote this 9 years ago, I feel so old now....
Minor rewrite and self-secondhand? embarrassment 10 years later at the number of times I misspelled were (where) I know better now! Promise!

Work Text:

Castiel had never seen another like him. His perfectly lean body. Eyes the greenest of green. A dusting of freckles scattered the bridge of his nose while his lips were full and set in a slight pout.

It wasn't his first photography session with a model, but this was the first he was doing without a supervisor. He was just getting his career started and couldn't mess this up. He was the youngest to get a internship at his workplace at the age of 18.

"Dean Winchester, right?"

"Yup." His lips popped on the "p" in a tantalizing sound. "That’s me." Dean followed with grin what made Castiel's knees go weak.

Castiel desperately clutched at the information packet saying the first thing he saw, hoping, praying, his thoughts weren't showing through. "17?" Damn it. That's not a full sentence. "You're pretty young." Better.

"Mmhmm" A smirk played on Dean's lips.

"Is this your first photo shoot?" Castiel spoke distractedly as he stared at the smirk before forcefully turning away. He grabbed his camera, fiddling with it in a desperate attempt at minimizing the staring.

"Nah. I've done a few before this." The teasing grin was evident in Dean's voice even without looking.

Still avoiding turning his gaze to Dean, Castiel put the camera down and glanced back at the information packet. “Says here they want a full portfolio set. Side, face and full body shots.”

"Yeah, manager said something about them wanting to make me a profile on their website."

Did he sound closer? No that can't be right Castiel would have heard footsteps. "I see. Well, let's just get right into it." Finally remembering how to project an air of professionalism, Castiel grabbed his camera and quickly adjusted the settings he'd messed with earlier in his distraction as he walked to the far side of the studio. He gestured to the draped white curtains in front of him finally shooting a quick glance back at Dean. "Take of your shirt and go stand over there. I just need to adjust the lighting and we can get started."

"Yes sir." The smirk was back.

Castiel moved around the room, flicking on switches and rearranging reflectors so they all pointed in the correct direction. When he finally turned to look at Dean his breath hitched. He was gorgeous. His skin was slightly tanned and the light bounced off his slightly rippled abs contrasting them. The jeans he wore hung low on his hips emphasizing the V that dipped below his pants. Castiel's eyes trailed down the line of fine hairs that followed the V before he ripped his gaze away.

He cleared his throat and grabbed his camera. Thankful for the layers of lenses separating them, he looked through it to to focus it properly on Dean.

"Okay." Falling back on hours of practice he settled into his stance, a sense of calm finally falling over him. “Just do your thing.” Castiel said.

Suddenly gone, was the flirtatious, bright look Dean had throughout their interactions thus far. In its place were eyes that stared hard into the lens as though trying to see into the soul of the viewer. His body was relaxed, arms hung lose beside him.

Every few seconds he would shift and make a new pose. The only thing constant was his eyes, piercing the lens. Several minutes of shots later, reluctantly, Castiel told him to turn to his side effectively ending the soulful staring. In the same methodical method they finished all the requested pictures. With practiced ease, Castiel transferred the photos to the computer quickly assessing if he had enough high quality shots of each pose to send back.

"I’ll send these to your manager." Castiel glanced up quickly to where he thought Dean was standing before startling backwards at how close Dean was suddenly standing in front of him.

Dean stared at him silent for a few moments before confidently walking forward. One hand grabbed Castiel's back, pulling him flush to Dean before he could stumble back anymore. His second hand came up to cradle the back of Castiel's head his he pressed their lips together. Their lips melded into each other as the kiss deepened. A moan ripped out from one of their throats, but they were t0o lost in each other to know who it came from.

After what felt like an eternity of hot breaths and soft lips, Castiel pulled back slightly his hand coming up to push back slightly on Dean's still bare chest. "Wh-what was that?" Castiel asked as he tried to catch his breath.

"You’ve got very pretty eyes." Dean replied very bluntly, "and I want to get to know you. Go out with me?"

"Why me? You're a model; I’m just a cameraman." Castiel stated, his face still slightly flushed from the pretty eyes comment.

Dean's eyes softened as he looked at Castiel. Reluctantly pulling away, he grabbed a pen from the table next to them and he took Castiel’s hand in his own.

"Here’s my number." Dean said as he wrote it on the back of the hand. "Call me. Anytime."

He gave Castiel a quick peck on the lips before he turned away. Throwing on the abandoned T-shirt he grabbed his jacket and started to walk out. Just before he reached the door he turned to a stunned Castiel.

"Hopefully, that anytime is sooner rather than later." A wink and a wave later, Dean walked out the door.

Left behind, Castiel fumbled for his phone.
