Work Text:
Sunny has lived with Taeyeon and Tiffany for long enough now to know that they pretend.
(She also knows that they pretend not to.)
She knows that more often than not, despite having a schedule early in the morning the next day and having woken up before the sun was up in the sky that day, Taeyeon pretends she’s not tired, just so she can spend some extra time with Tiffany after she comes home. Because if there’s something she wants more than to sleep for 12 hours straight -if she could-, is to spend more time with her best friend.
She knows Tiffany pretends -or overreacts, sometimes- to be mad (or more mad) at Taeyeon because she likes the way Taeyeon caters to her and does everything to try and redeem herself, loves how Taeyeon is a little touchier afterwards.
She could make a list of all the things they pretend and when, but the most important one would always be this:
They pretend there’s nothing more to them than a simple friendship, that they don’t burn with jealousy when the other is going out with someone, even though it never lasts long, even more so lately. They both pretend they don’t know why that happens, too. They pretend they don’t look at the other like they hung the stars and the moon in the sky, and pretend they don’t know the other looks at them exactly like that, too.
Sunny doesn’t know how they do it, how they have kept it up for so long, but they pretend –so she does too.
She acts like she knows nothing, sees nothing, doesn’t hear their soft laughter and exchanged whispers in the middle of the night. She pretends she doesn’t wish they’d get a grip of the situation soon.
She hates it –to see them pretending, and having to pretend she doesn’t.
