Chapter Text
Park Jimin is good at italian.
It was only normal after spending his entire childhood in Bologna.
Shortly after his parents got married, a honeymoon was expected. And what a honeymoon they had! The newly weds were so entranced by the old architecture, the warm colours, and the friendly people, they decided to start a new life there, in Italy. It really was something made on the spur of the moment that had consequences, but the korean community (albeit small) from Bologna was welcoming and helped them.
Despite the fact that he had a nice life here, visiting his relatives or talking the language at home or in the neighbourhood, Jimin is slowly losing his abilities in speaking korean. The young man's parents were concerned he may forget the language entirely and so, they sent Jimin back to South Korea to live with his aunt, Kang Yeongsun. She was a kind and beautiful woman. Her hair was dyed blonde which only emphasised her piercing eyes making her a very alluring woman even in her 40's. In fact, the whole family had good genes that allowed them to inherit sharp features, yet soft details. Everyone was goodlooking in the family and Jimin was no exception. Maybe this is why people ofen tell Jimin he has the looks of an italian, the worldwide beauty standard... or maybe it's the time he spent there as a kid and the european influences that were imprinted on his face and behaviour. Whichever would it be, Jimin can't help but to be associated with Italy.
So here he is in the italian class. It was a paid course he's taken because he had no other better alternatives, Jimin reasoned, but deep in the corner of his mind he knew the world was pushing the Italy agenda into him. However, he can't fight forces that are bigger than him. In fact, he doesn't really mind it because Jimin is good at italian.
"Can you help me with this? I'll give you my number." a small voice almost like a whisper rang in Jimin's ear accompanied by a tap on his soulder. It was from somewhere behind him.
Jimin didn't even have time to think before another voice was heard, this time from his left.
"He likes you." Jungkook said with a shit-eating grin all over his face.
Jungkook was a nice guy according to Jimin. The former wasn't particularly good at italian but he was determined to succeed in everything he picks up on. They have hanged out around a few times and Jungkook was funny in spite of his weird coconut haircut that did nothing else, but make his big round eyes look bigger.
Now the classroom was filled with whispers, all of them chanting the same phrase: "Yoongi likes Jimin!" The later feels all the blood rushing to his cheeks, a heavy blush forming on his face in embarassment. He feels like drowning in the abundence of people talking mindlessly as if the subjects of their talk aren't here. He didn't even hear Yoongi's name because he was that caught up in his emotions. Thankfully the teacher's voice silences everything. The stricking sound of a revolted, yet intrigued "What?!" cuts through the mass of people and Jimin's anxiety, giving him a moment to breathe again. Then it all ends at the ringing of the bell that announces the class is finally over. If Jimin thought better, he could've swore the "saved by the bell" phrase was made for him and not for the people in the past who were buried alive by mistake and rang a bell that was attached to the coffin to be saved as most thought. On the other hand, after today's events Jimin isn't quite sure if he doesn't mind being good at italian anymore.
A week has passed and it's Wednesday again, more precisely, it's italian class again. He can't help but to ignore the murmurs in the classroom, each of them telling him that Yoongi likes him. This time he's heard the name properly. To be frank, Jimin doesn't know a lot about Yoongi except for the fact that he is friends with Jungkook too. Yoongi seems to be a calm person, but it must be because he doesn't really engage in conversations. Yoongi for sure doesn't have a problem with communicating while texting. He has his phone glued to his hands. Or is it the small talk that bores him? That must be it. Yoongi sends a lot of 1 line replies one after another. He surely likes talking!
Jimin did know some things about Yoongi.
The class finished faster than Jimin expected. He briefly remembers hearing something about descrivi la tua famiglia, probably the assignment for next week. Describing his family wasn't something too hard for him, might as well do it in the lunch break. His bestfriend, Taehyung, whom he became close to ever since the first day of uni, was waiting for the boy on the third floor by the stairs, steps away from the canteen, as usual. Jimin left the classroom and headed to the lift. "That way I could be early", he thought and yet, his counscious, or rather Taetae's voice (as he likes to call him) tells him that he should take the stairs. "Discovering anime turned you into a couch potato. God why Jungkook?!" Jimin stands in front of the lift, eyeing the staircase few meters on his right, hesistating.
"Get in."
Jimin didn't have to be told twice. The message was crystal clear: his damn self was standing in someone's way, THE someone's way- Min Yoongi. Jimin entered the lift mechanically, as if he was a robot. Honestly he wasn't far from one, he thought. At the same time, Jimin felt his heartbeat flattening, breath caught in his throat, there was no way his body was functioning so the only cerebral conclusion was that he was a machinery. However his face turned 3 shades redder so there must be something alive in him. For the entire ride, Jimin stood there frozen, afraid that he would do something stupid again. Yoongi paid no mind to him.
