Chapter Text
English. Then maths, lunch and stay after school ends to help Kou with gardening.
Nene Yashiro’s life is almost normal. She goes to school like any other normal teenager, does her homework, studies for her exams, hangs out with friends and reads super-cliche novels to fullfill her hopeless romantic self. Nothing out of the ordenary, except for the fact one of her best friends is an exorcist and the other one is a ghost stuck in the accademy. Oh, and she starts turning into a fish if water touches her skin. And she’s the assistant of a supernatural being.
It’s almost the perfect life.
Though she still needs to find a suitable boyfriend.
Luck seems to be on her side lately, to her content. A handsome, second year boy invited her to get some ice cream tomorrow afternoon. He’s tall, has brown hair and the deepest blue eyes she had ever seen. It’s good, Nene thinks. Maybe he’s the one that’s meant for her. Promising herself she wouldn’t desperately try to fall in love with any boy that runs her way, she still has trouble stopping her mind from picturing perfect wedding scenarios and cute, puffy dresses.
“Hanako-san! I’m here!” She announces happily as she enters the girl’s bathroom to complete her -not so entertaining- assistant duties.
He materialises in fron of her in less than a minute.
“Someone’s looking cheerful today,” he states, his usual devilish smile on his face.
“That’s because I am,” Nene holds the mop up proudly. “I just got invited to a date tomorrow!”
She swears that, just for an instant, a dark emotion she can not completely describe floods his eyes, but it’s as fleeting as a shooting star.
“Oh, seems like he hasn’t seen your raddish legs then,” Hanako mocks, floating towards her. “Or maybe he likes girls with big ankles.”
Her cheeks turn a bright side of red. “Why does everything you say sound so perverted?! And my legs aren’t that big! Don’t be mean!”
He does, in fact, like her legs very much, just as any other part of her. She’s special, he knows, though he’d never admit it out loud.
“Anyways, you can’t leave so easily, right? You have toilet duty to do!”
She pouts like a little child who wants a toy their parents refuse to buy. “I’ve been cleaning toilets for far too long now! I deserve a break! Friends don’t force each other to do cleaning.”
“Well, I’ve been dead for far too long to know what friends do or don’t, so... you’ll stay here and mop the floor like you always do.”
“Fine! They maybe I’ll skip work tomorrow!”
“Then maybe I will turn you into a fish again!”
She looks at him defeatedly and sighs. “That’s playing dirty.”
Hanako giggles. “Come on, it’s not that bad. Besides...,” he approaches her from behind and hugs her. “Being around me is fun, right?”
He can feel her body tensing against his touch, a foreign sensation running through her veins.
“Not always,” she replies while escaping his embrace.
“What if took you to make something fun after you’re done? Would that cheer you up?”
Nene looks at him excitedly. “Maybe.”
“Then maybe you should hurry up.”
He doesn’t have that much time left with her, and seeing her having fun would be a memory he would treasure until the day he died completely.
