A/N: This story can be read on its own, but is a sequel to The precocious man
It was a Friday afternoon when they arrived at the resort. Keigo kept his arm around her waist, escorting his girlfriend into the lobby before kissing her cheek and leaving her off to the side with the suitcases while he checked them in and sorted everything out at the front desk. A porter took their luggage with a smile and moments later her boyfriend took her hand and led the way.
“This is even more luxurious than I thought it would be,” she said, looking around nervously when they exited the elevator.
“Only the best for my darling.” Keigo grinned, pulling her closer to his side.
One of Keigo’s many admirable qualities was the ability to act nonchalant in any given moment. Wherever he was, be it a fancy pro hero event or a criminal organisation, Keigo looked like he belonged. Effortlessly. Meanwhile, his girlfriend felt very out of place, even when they were just walking down the hall, passing fancy rich guests along the way. When the two got to their room, Keigo unlocked it and held the door open for her. She walked in slowly, looking around the ocean view suit.
“Oh, Keigo,” she gasped softly, noticing the trail of rose petals leading to the large bed which was also covered in them.
Two arms wrapped around her waist, her boyfriend’s body pressing against her back as he ducked his head to kiss her shoulder.
“You like?”
The woman smiled to herself, covering his hands with hers and turning her head to nuzzle against his.
“Like? I love! You really didn’t have to do all this…”
Wordlessly, Keigo pulled his arms away and scooped her into a romantic princess-carry. With a little gasp, the woman wrapped her arms around his neck hurriedly, giggling as he carried her to the bed.
“Isn’t this more of an after-the-wedding kind of thing?” she asked coyly, yelping when he dropped her onto the bed unceremoniously.
“Are you hinting at something, darling?” His wolfish grin sent electricity down her spine, muscles flexing as he shrugged off his jacket.
“I might be.” She chuckled, her boyfriend climbing into bed over her. “But much like this,” she began, eyes fluttering shut as he kissed a trail up her the side of her neck to her jaw, “not right now.”
“Really!?” the hero groaned, pushing himself up and off of the woman’s body.
“Yes, really. First we shower and unpack. Then everything else,” she said with a giggle, stealing a sweet little kiss before ducking under his arm and rising from the bed.
Pouting bitterly, the hero extended his right wing, wrapping it around his girlfriend’s body and pushing her back onto the bed easily.
“Don’t scoop me!” she whined.
It was one of his peculiar habits, along with the shoulder nibbling and butt slapping/pinching/grabbing.
“I had the whole thing planned,” the hero sulked, taking off his headphones and gloves.
“So did I.” She shook her head lightly, before turning to look at him. ” I was going to keep it a total secret, but if you must know… I may or may not have ordered a certain red piece from a certain line of lingerie you may have mentioned,” the woman mumbled, glancing teasingly at her boyfriend over her shoulder as she unpacked, taking great pleasure in the way his eyes widened.
“Well that changes things,” the hero said, hopping off the bed and grabbing his suitcase to unpack. She couldn’t help but laugh at his eagerness.
Despite her boyfriend’s great desire for them to shower together, she managed to convince him to go first. When he came out of the bathroom, Keigo was wearing only his boxers and a towel over his shoulders. The girlfriend took a moment to gawk at his body. After three years of dating she felt no shame in it, he did the same thing with her anyway.
“Should I pose?” the hero purred, tilting his head slightly and flexing his abs.
“Only if you’re trying to seduce me,” the woman responded, grabbing her towel and favourite body wash.
“I always am.”
Chuckling at his silly poses, the woman walked around him and escaped into the bathroom before he could grab her. While she showered, Keigo organised the rest of their things and scooped the petals off the bed and into a bin, flopping onto the bed face first when he was done.
Having finished her shower and slipped into the sexy-yet-surprisingly-comfortable lingerie, the woman opened the bathroom door slowly to find her boyfriend lounging on the bed, phone in his hand, scrolling. She hoped it wasn’t work related. Leaning against the door frame, she waited for him to notice her. And then waited some more. Must’ve been a work thing. Clearing her throat to get his attention, the woman posed playfully, the sight of her boyfriend biting his lip once he saw her stroking her ego just right.
“You like?” she asked, smiling cheekily as he sat up on the bed, eyes glued to her.
“Oh, I love.”
She approached him slowly, placing her palms on his shoulders before lowering herself to sit on his thighs.
“You’re stunning,” he mumbled, hands traveling up her sides slowly, feeling her skin and the soft material of the lingerie.
His girlfriend pressed her forehead against his, meeting his gaze shyly. Some things never changed.
“I don’t think you know how much I love you,” she whispered after a beat of silence, their noses touching for only a short moment.
“I think I have a pretty good idea,” Keigo whispered back, brushing his nose against hers as he tilted his head to capture her lips in a deep, slow succession of kisses.
“Will you hate me if I ruin the moment?” the woman asked, breathless. The fear and concern in her eyes were familiar to the hero.
“I could never hate you.”
His hands slid down to her hips, squeezing gently in a comforting gesture. A moment of silence followed, with her just looking at him, uncertain.
“Are you going undercover again?”
It was a question she knew she shouldn’t ask. Partly because even if he was, he wouldn’t be able to tell her, but mostly because that had a way of eating him up inside. Keigo hated worrying her and maybe even more not being able to dispel her worries and fears. He stayed silent, as per usual, his grip on her hips just a bit firmer, staying on the right side of painful. She knew him too well. Although he was the type to shower her with gifts and take her on adventures casually or on a whim, when it was planned it often was a way of him trying to make it up to her for something. Her guesses were rarely wrong.
“Am I not going to able to see you for a long time?”
His last undercover mission had had the hero away from her for a period of several months. Not because he couldn’t go to her, but because he didn’t want to. While doing undercover work, it was a given that the organisation he was infiltrating or trying to would have eyes and ears on him at all times. Keigo was not one to hide his beloved, after all, they went out rather frequently, but he would admit to changing the subject more than once when the questions came up, even when it was another hero asking. She was his and his alone. There was no need for other heroes to ask about her or meet her or want to hang out with her.
His girlfriend was a compassionate, tender-hearted, affectionate person. If she wasn’t so busy with her studies, she would have men chasing after her day and night, the hero was sure of it. Thankfully, her research and classes at the university kept her occupied and Keigo kept her his. Not that he ever thought she would want someone else - his faith in her was absolute. Even so, he didn’t want anyone else to want her. And wanting her was easy. Natural. Borderline necessary. So, when he was being watched, Keigo kept her out of the picture, just in case. Though quirkless, she was no stranger to being held hostage by a villain, but Keigo had no desire to even entertain the possibility of her revisiting that kind of scenario ever again. Sure, he could always locate her thanks to the necklace she wore with one of his smallest feathers in a glass vile on it, but keeping her out of the equation altogether felt much better. Protecting her was a must, even if it made her sad, it was a price he was always more than willing to pay for her safety.
He raised a hand to her lips, tracing the bottom one with his thumb as their eyes met. She could see the inner turmoil of her beloved in there and that was as much of an answer, or rather - confirmation - as she would get. A bit of loneliness crept up on her. Her love for Keigo was unwavering and her trust everlasting, she loved everything about him, including the hero work which was a big part of who Keigo was. Still, the woman couldn’t pretend that she never worried, or that she didn’t get lonely when he stayed away for weeks on end. She understood and supported him, but her heart wasn’t always logical.
Her palms slid down to his chest as she leaned in for an affectionate, lingering kiss.
“I really don’t think you know how much I love you,” she insisted, turning her head to kiss the palm of his hand, which had been pressed to her cheek.
“Maybe,” he said softly, bringing his other hand up to hook a finger under the strap of her top and slide it down her shoulder, “luckily, you don’t know that you could do so much better,” the hero mumbled, pulling her closer as he leaned in to kiss her throat.
“Not in a million years. In my eyes… in my heart and mind, there is only you. I could never love another as much and as deeply as I love you,” she mumbled, fingers crawling up and into his hair, breath hitching when he bit down on the side of her throat.
“Chose your words wisely. I might have to keep you for myself for the rest of my life,” the hero responded, brushing her chin with the tip of his nose when he tilted his head up to meet her eyes.
“Maybe you should.” Her hands traveled down to hold his face tenderly.
“Maybe I will.” Keigo glanced at her lips, then back at her eyes, before meeting her halfway for a brain-melting kiss.
He definitely would.
Saturday morning was a sunny one. The weather was perfect and so was her winged boyfriend, who’d ordered breakfast in bed and braided her hair while she responded to messages from her research project partners. In return, she did her best to tame his bed hair while he took a call from his agency, occasionally nudging her with a wing when he started disliking the look of the hairstyle she was trying to force his unruly locks into. The couple left their room while it was still morning. They took a walk around the resort to check out the facilities and take some pictures. Around noon, they headed to the marina, where she spent the first few minutes convincing her hero boyfriend that they didn’t need a damn yacht for one afternoon, while he refused to get one of the smaller, simpler boats. In the end, they met halfway, agreeing to rent a mid-sized cruiser, piloted by an elderly gentleman.
Fortunately, the boat owner was also a long-time fisherman and knew where to go to find aquatic wildlife. Her chest swelled with joy as they set out, the boyfriend greatly amused by the little squeal of happiness she let slip once they were far enough to look back at the shore as a tiny ribbon of land in the distance.
“Around these parts is where you’re likely to see schools of all kinds of smaller fish!” the old man yelled over his shoulder from the pilot house.
The woman leaned against the railing eagerly, slipping off her sandals and shimmy-ing her shorts off, before leaning back for a moment to take off the T-Shirt, leaving her in the one-piece swimsuit. Her boyfriend shamelessly admired her backside as she stared out at the sea.
“I was so right to take up freediving!” the woman squealed, getting her goggles, snorkel and other equipment.
“Feel free to jump in. This is the spot - the currents meet not far from here, so there should be all sorts of critters around the area,” the old fisherman said with an amused smile, before turning back to the steering wheel and enjoying his beer.
“Wanna come chase some fish?” she asked her boyfriend excitedly, folding her clothes neatly and putting them to the side.
“Pass. Not too keen on getting my wings wet,” Keigo answered, reaching out to stroke the skin under her chin as if she were a cat. “I’ll keep an eye on you from above.”
“I’m wearing the necklace,” the woman said, pulling the chain out of her suit to show him.
“I know.” The hero kissed her tenderly. “Just in case.”
“Alright then - I’m off!” the biologist shouted enthusiastically.
“Mm, have fun~!”
Keigo watched her as she sat on the edge of the boat and splashed some water over her body before lowering herself into it.
“Hoo, that’s colder than I thought,” the woman yelped, taking a deep breath before going under completely, getting her hair and face just as soaked.
She came up a moment later, making a face at the salty taste and adjusting her equipment again. She glanced up at her boyfriend with a grin and a salute, before duckdiving. The hero took that as his cue, jumping up into the air and over the edge of the boat. Though he was aware that she’d been freediving for almost a year at that point, Keigo wasn’t taking any chances and letting her go off on her own. Of course, he couldn’t really see her when she went down, but he could check his watch every now and then while waiting for her to come up for air.
His girlfriend came up quickly, seemingly looking around for him.
“Up here,” he called with a shake of his head, warmth filling his chest when she looked up at him with a big smile.
“I forgot the camera! Can you toss it to me?”
“Sure.”
The hero landed on the cruiser with ease, throwing the pilot a quick glance before digging through her bag for the camera. The old fisherman seemed to be tying knots while enjoying his beer.
“Got it. Catch!”
Keigo threw the camera to her nonchalantly, smirking cheekily when she panicked after failing to catch it and watching it sink.
“That could’ve really sunk, jeez!” his girlfriend scolded him with a pout. Keigo opened his mouth to respond, but was cut off. “And if you say ‘I would’ve bought you another one’ I will scream.”
The hero could only chuckle at that, flying up once again. She started really diving, coming up for air now and again, each time with a bigger smile and more zeal. The boyfriend flew down onto the boat when she announced that she was done - which was a long while later - and grabbed a towel to wrap her in once she climbed aboard. He padded to the side of the boat, offering a hand which the woman took with a nod, panting as he helped her up and onto the cruiser. Keigo wrapped the towel around her after she’d discarded the equipment, droplets of water falling from the ends of her hair, chin, elbows and down her legs still.
“You won’t believe what I just saw!” the woman exclaimed, bouncing in place joyfully, her large eyes twinkling with delight. “I took so many pictures, look!”
She grabbed the camera as her boyfriend handed her another, smaller towel for her hair, and started going through the album. Keigo was actually a bit surprised to see corals, some weird creatures buried in sand and even several schools of colourful fish depicted in the photos. When he glanced at his girlfriend, her smile was wide and sunny, borderline silly as she talked about the fish, telling him everything from their Latin names to what they must’ve been doing. To Keigo, she was the most beautiful woman in the world and watching her explain the things she’s passionate about with so much glee stirred a want in him which - as per his nature - could not be denied.
“Oh, their colours, Keigo! The pictures don’t even do it justice, I-” Feeling the man’s fingers curl around her wrists, she stopped talking and looked at him, tilting her head to the side in confusion.
“Forgive me,” the hero said, his grip firm, almost painful. “I have to kiss you. Right now.” The woman started panicking as he leaned in, glancing at the third person on the boat over Keigo’s shoulder.
“Eh!? But-” Her protests were silenced with a familiar pair of lips on her own. The hero pulled her closer, her chest pressed against his and she tried to pull away, so as not to get his clothes wet. Keigo refused to budge, wings closing in around her, tongue exploring her mouth in a way he knew made her dizzy and usually reserved for the bedroom. Her brain short-circuited for a moment, her boyfriend’s actions too good and too familiar to resist.
A chuckle from behind the boyfriend brought her back to reality and she managed to pull away, pinching the hero’s earlobe as punishment. Her cheeks burned with shame of knowing the old fisherman had witnessed their passionate makeout. Thanks to the hero’s wings, he couldn’t have seen much, but it was clear enough from everything else.
“We are not alone and your clothes are getting wet!” she hissed, pulling her boyfriend to her eye level by his ear.
“Had I not kissed you then, he would’ve witnessed something much more debauched,” Keigo growled, licking his lips suggestively.
It only added to her embarrassment and the woman stepped back quickly, pulling the towel closer to her body, molten lava creeping up her neck.
“It’s your fault, you know,” the hero mumbled, looking her up and down, eyes shining with lust. “Coming out of the water panting, dripping wet and talking with so much zest and felicity. How am I supposed to control myself?” He grabbed a fistful of her towel and yanked her forward so close their noses touched. “You know I can’t resist you when you get so passionate,” her boyfriend mumbled, that time with less lust and more tenderness.
He let go of her and walked over to the boat’s small cooler to grab a drink.
“It’s getting dark. Wanna go back?” Keigo asked her, casually taking a sip of soda.
“Y-Yeah,” she responded, dumbfounded.
Watching her boyfriend suspiciously, the woman grabbed her clothes and jogged down the stairs into the small area under the deck to change. Sometimes Keigo could not be trusted. He wasn’t one to let desire get the best of him. That, coupled with the sudden trip and his overflowing affections over the past few weeks - it was starting to look like a just-in-case goodbye. The though of Keigo wanting her to have all these happy memories just in case those ended up being her last memories of him froze the blood in her veins. She’d noticed a while ago that something was off and assumed it would be another long mission, but the more time passed, the more afraid she got. Something big was brewing - the woman didn’t know what, but she could feel it. The slight tension of his body which would go unnoticed by anyone other the girlfriend who knew him a bit too well, the unease she saw behind his eyes as they lay in a mess of entangled limbs together, when he caressed her cheek and kissed the spot on her chest, right above her heart, with eyes tightly squeezed shut - something was brewing, big enough to worry the strongest man she knew.
Once she was in dry clothes and had wrapped her hair up with a towel, the biologist returned to the deck, avoiding the old fisherman’s eyes. She could’ve sworn he’d whispered something along the lines of ‘ah, to be young and in love’ as she passed by him. The woman packed her bag quickly and sat by the railing, avoiding her boyfriend as well.
Sighing softly, Keigo grabbed an iced tea from the cooler, walked over to her and put it down by her thigh before leaning against the railing.
“Are you mad?” the hero asked softly, having waited to hear her open the beverage. The shore was slowly getting closer.
“No,” she said simply, the tone of her voice drawing his attention immediately. The moment he looked at her, Keigo knew they were on another subject.
“I’m scared… and worried,” she admitted quietly, the way his grip on the railing tightened making her chest hurt. The biologist knew well that those words cut him deep. “But most of all,” she continued, looking up at him with fondness, “I am in awe.” His girlfriend pushed herself up and padded to him. Stopping right next to the hero she looked over the edge of the boat, burning the image of the colourful horizon into her mind.
“I am in awe of the man you are… every day,” she said, not looking at him. “Every moment I spend with you feels like a dream. So, when you’re gone for long I start feeling like I might’ve woken up and you’ve disappeared.”
The hero noticed her eyes filling with tears slowly. It tore his heart to see her like that, but there was nothing for him to do except listen.
“Even so, Keigo, I need you to know that… no matter what… I will always be waiting for you to come home,” the woman whispered, finally turning to look at him. Her smiling face was dazzling despite the tears. “No matter what. However long it takes. You’ll always find me in that cozy studio you helped me decorate… So don’t disappear, okay?” She brought her right hand up, holding the glass vial with his feather tightly to her chest. “You can’t. As long as I have this, you have to come home. No matter what.”
Keigo had no memory of ever being left speechless, so it was a first for him. In his eyes she seemed to glow. His heart felt way too big for his chest. It was all her fault. The inability to breathe, to remember words, to stop his hands from seeking the warmth of her skin. It was all her fault.
The man gently pulled her in for a hug, he didn’t even notice the way his wings wrapped around them desperately. Unlike the usual wall they made between them and the rest of the world when he focused on her, they were pressed to her back, leaving no part of her for anyone else, caging her body in so tightly he felt her every inhale against his chest. Any closer and he could’ve confused her heartbeat with his. Keigo didn’t realise his hands were shaking as they squeezed her more tightly, as if he was the one dreaming and wanting to make sure she was real.
“Of course,” he managed to rasp by hear ear and almost panicked when her body relaxed. “No matter what, I’ll always come home to you,” the hero promised in a whisper, breathing her in to ground himself.
He couldn’t remember the last time he’d gotten overwhelmed with emotion. To think that a single woman had such power over him - to make him shake with only a few words. He didn’t want to let her go. Especially when she returned the hug with her left arm - right hand still clutching the vial - and nodded against his shoulder slowly.
“I love you a lot,” she mumbled into his shoulder, muffled by his clothes. The hero was starting to think his heart contracted a bit harder when she was around. “I’m sorry for doing this in the middle of this amazing trip you’ve taken me on. I might be PMSing,” the woman said jokingly, leaning back once she was unwrapped from his wings.
“Hmm, that must be why you’re extra beautiful today,” Keigo said with a small smirk, unwrapping her towel and rubbing her head with it gently.
“You’re too smooth,” his girlfriend giggled, reaching out to caress his left wing which was closer to her.
“Compliments come naturally when you’re around,” he claimed, putting the towel away and kissing her forehead. “For example you look adorable with half-dried hair.”
“I knew I should’ve bought the other lingerie set as well,” she said, shaking her head with a chuckle.
“Buy it for our next trip,” the boyfriend said with a wink, taking her hand as the boat came to a stop.
“We have arrived!” the old man called from the pilot house.
“Thank you very much!” the girlfriend said to the man, bowing politely.
“Thanks for everything!” Hawks added, tipping the man handsomely as she adjusted the bag on her left shoulder.
Hand in hand, they left the marina and walked around for a while.
“That impromptu makeout was brutish and embarrassing,” the woman said once they were a good distance away from the boats, crossing her arms with a pout.
“I couldn’t help myself.” The hero shrugged, smiling innocently.
“You do realise payback is in order?”
“Oh?” He raised an eyebrow, always happy to accept a challenge.
“Oh is right. You’re in for it when we get back to the room,” the woman said enticingly, nudging her boyfriend gently with her elbow.
She almost giggled at the way his wings perked up, rising with an excited flap.
“Well that’s something to look forward to,” Keigo mumbled, taking her hand and bringing it to his lips, “It would do you well to remember that I don’t go down easy though,” the hero said, smirking against her fingers.
“Oh but you will. Trust me,” she responded, smiling coyly.
“You do things like this and then get mad at me when I jump you, I will never understand women,” the hero said, sighing dramatically. “I am being seduced in the middle of a street, how scandalous.”
“What can I say? I’ve learned from the best,” his girlfriend responded, kissing his cheek before pulling him along towards a gift shop with a grin.
They walked around for a while, visiting shops and taking pictures. She bought them matching seashell bracelets and Keigo even indulged her enough to stop and make a sand castle before returning to the hotel.
Once they had entered their room, the girlfriend waited for the click of the door behind them, before wrapping her arms around the hero’s neck and pulling him in for a kiss.
“A-a, bad girl,” the man chastised with a wag of his finger, “first we change and have dinner. Everything else after dinner.” He chuckled at her little pout, the pink on her cheeks only making her more enticing. “Now you see what it was like for me yesterday,” the hero said, grinning as he pinched his girlfriend’s cheek before walking past her and into the room to change.
“Fiiine,” the woman said with a shake of her head, following her boyfriend into the room. “Should I wear something fancy or? Where are we having dinner?”
“On the beach. You’ll see.” The man’s mysterious smile didn’t help her choose an outfit.
In the end, she went with a long burgundy satin dress - simple yet elegant - and some flat sandals, so she wouldn’t end up carried around by her boyfriend, unable to walk on sand with heels. The thought brought back memories of that one party his agency had had in the summer, when she’d showed up in heels and struggled to walk around the grass of the garden the event had been held at. Never again. The biologist wasn’t a big fan of uncomfortable clothing or footwear - such as skin tight dresses and heels - but she did like to go a bit crazy when accompanying Keigo. Though her boyfriend never had a preference when it came to her clothing, she tried to look as good as possible when attending any of the many events the hero got invited to. Keigo didn’t care, but when she represented him in any setting the woman did her best to leave a good impression, maybe earn a few envious or lingering looks. Neither of them was very big on showing off their significant other, but she was big on looking good for him. Fortunately, Keigo saw her as beautiful no matter when or what she wore, so she only really went the extra mile when they were spending time around other pro heroes and their wives or girlfriends. It wasn’t a competition, but Keigo did deserve the best, so she tried to look it in those situations.
“Is my darling trying to cause a fight? Someone will try to steal you away if you go looking like that,” the hero said, scanning her slowly when she exited the bathroom.
“Too much?” the woman asked shyly, cheeks burning as she rubbed her arms self-consciously.
“Never.” Keigo approached her with a pleased smile. “You look perfect,” he said softly, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear with one hand and pinching her chin between the fingers of the other. The boyfriend pulled away as her lips stretched into a demure smile.
“Shall we go?” The hero offered his arm which only made her smile widen. His girlfriend placed her hand on it with a nod.
The dinner table was on the beach, far enough from the water so that their legs couldn’t get wet from the waves, but close enough to hear their crashing and burbling. An older, elegantly dressed woman led them there and took their orders. The table was a simple round one with a perfectly white tablecloth and several candles providing light alongside torches which stood by the path leading from the restaurant’s garden to the table, as well as from the table to the king size cabana, the curtains and mattress cover of which were also white. The woman felt a bit out of place, even though they were alone most of the time. The people they had passed by seemed like either excited tourists or confident celebrity, meanwhile she felt trapped in the middle - dressed like someone who belongs, but feeling like someone who absolutely does not. Keigo must’ve noticed her unease, because he reached across the table for her hand.
“Something on your mind, darling?”
“Just a bit nervous… I feel like I might knock over a glass or drop food on my dress or something embarrassing like that,” she admitted softly, glancing at the waves with a sigh.
“Don’t be nervous. Even if you do, you’ll just become delicious in addition to beautiful,” her boyfriend said with a smile, rubbing his thumb in little circles on the back of her hand.
She couldn’t help but giggle at that. He was too good at easing her mind.
“Thank you,” she whispered, smiling brightly. Her boyfriend brought their hands to his lips, kissing hers before letting go so the incoming waitress could place their plates down.
Predictably, Keigo had the recommended chicken-based dish, while his girlfriend enjoyed an assortment of grilled vegetables on the side of baked potatoes and a delicious sauce. The hostess who had showed them to the table arrived with a bottle of wine on the house - apparently the restaurant’s owner was a fan of the pro hero - and Keigo accepted it with a radiant smile and signed the chef’s hat the woman had brought.
“What?” the hero asked, having turned around to see his girlfriend looking at him with a bewitching smile.
“Nothing,” she mumbled, picking up her glass carefully. “Cheers?”
“Cheers.” Keigo brought the rim of his glass to hers, causing a gentle clink.
After they were done with food, Keigo rose from the table and walked around it, offering her his hand. Wordlessly, her boyfriend led her to the cabana with a hand at the small of her back and helped her onto the soft mattress. It was one of those square, wooden structures with canopies on the sides, leaving the structure roofless which provided a great view of the sky to those who lounged on it. Laying back on the soft white pillow, the woman looked up at the starry sky which took her breath away. The torchlight didn’t quite reach the cabana, so she half-expected her boyfriend to kiss her or pinch her butt discretely, but he only rolled in next to her, flexing his wings to keep them out of the way as he turned on his side, laying next to her, watching the reflection of the stars in her eyes. The elbow of his right arm rested on the mattress, right cheek in palm, while the left hand sneaked over her stomach, fingers curling along the curve of her waist.
The woman turned her head, locking eyes with her boyfriend. He looked even more handsome bathed in moonlight. She caressed his cheek, the heel of her palm brushing against his stubble, making her shiver as a breeze from the sea blew over them.
“Cold?” Keigo asked, already shrugging his jacket off.
“I’m fine,” the woman responded, stopping his movements with a hand on his shoulder.
“It’s either the jacket or I hug you,” the hero said simply, running the longest feathers of his left wing down her right arm.
“The waitress might come back,” his girlfriend mumbled shyly, poking his cheek as a little act of rebellion.
“She won’t. Once the plates are taken away, they leave the guests alone.”
“Okay.”
Keigo extended his left wing over the woman’s body as he pulled her closer. His left arm remained around her waist, left wing serving almost as a blanket, protecting her from the cold as she looked up at him with pink cheeks and starry eyes. With his cheek on the right palm, Keigo was looking down into those eyes, feeling like he might accidentally fall in. Instead, he leaned down and kissed her lovingly, thumb tracing abstract shapes over the right side of her ribcage. Her hands darted up, left to the side of his neck, right to his chest. When their lips separated, she buried her face into his neck and exhaled softly, body relaxing under his arm and wing.
“Let’s go back…” the woman whispered against his skin, sending a delightful shiver down his spine.
“Cold?” the hero teased, rubbing his left hand up and down her right arm.
“Warm,” she replied, palm sliding over his right pectoral muscle.
“Oh.” The hero hopped off the mattress and scooped his girlfriend into his arms with ease. “In that case - we should hurry back.”
“I can walk.” She giggled, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing his cheek.
“Or we can fly there.”
“Or we can walk.”
“Fine. Buzzkill,” her boyfriend commented, putting her down with a sigh.
“Thank you,” she said sweetly, kissing his chin and pulling him along by the hand.
The walked out of the restaurant and towards the hotel, passing people left and right on their way.
“Maybe I should’ve worn a cardigan or something… I feel underdressed…” the woman mumbled, mostly to herself.
“Funny, I usually feel you’re overdressed,” the hero whispered in her ear, having fallen into step with her, the hand which had been resting at the small of her back inching down slowly as they turned left into a fenced off path to the hotel.
“I will pluck your feathers one by one very slowly, then move on to your facial hair once I’ve plucked them all,” she threatened with a sweet smile, grabbing his wrist and pulling his hand back up.
“Ooh, kinky.” The hero whistled suggestively, chuckling when she nudged him in the ribs gently.
The couple got to the building and entered the elevator, Keigo standing behind her as she pressed the button. She noticed his wings slowly reducing the size of her field of peripheral vision bit by bit, closing in around her from behind.
“Don’t think I haven’t noticed this,” she said to her boyfriend, gently brushing the wings back with a giggle.
“Buzzkill.”
They got to the room a minute later and the hero attacked the back of her neck the moment they were inside, leaving kisses all around the silver chain of her necklace, hands sneaking around her body and meeting at her stomach. His chest pressed to her back and his kisses were placed with devious precision of a man who knew all her sweet spots. She let him enjoy the game for a while, walking to the bed in his arms, pretending to be putty in his hands. Keigo’s hands went up to her shoulders, sliding the straps of her dress down, the peppering of kisses along her neck and upper back seemingly never-ending.
“Keigo?”
“Hm?”
“I think we forgot something.”
The hero raised his head, lips leaving her skin, and looked around the room in confusion.
“What?”
“Payback,” she said, turning to face him and pulling her boyfriend down onto the bed with her.
Though the hero was obviously stronger, he wasn’t strong enough to fight the weight of her body and gravity. The woman landed on her back, boyfriend on top of her which gave him just enough time to move his wings out of the way as she rolled them over, sitting on his hips and securing his wrists with her hands, holding them against the bed on either side of his head.
“Oh my,” Keigo growled, his wings giving an excited flap.
“Prepare for trouble,” his girlfriend warned, leaning down to nip at his collarbone. She felt the muscles of his forearm flexing under the skin of her palm for a brief moment before finding herself flipped over and pinned down.
“I don’t go down easy, remember?” Keigo whispered against her lips, licking a stripe up along the skin covering her sternum to her throat.
“I would be disappointed if you did,” his girlfriend answered, hooking a leg over his hips as he captured her lips in a deep, passionate kiss.
Man, I can't get Hawks out of my head and I've only seen him in the manga. I'm seriously falling for this fictional man, help me.
Anyway, thanks for reading, leave me a comment if you liked it (or if you didn't, we love constructive criticism in this house) and have a lovely day!
