Work Text:
Hanta, the owner of a small bookshop/cafe, has a few regulars, such as a couple who comes over to do study dates, someone who reminds him of an angry Pomeranian who often yells at who he's tutoring, and the one who he can remember the most: a tall, muscular dude with an undercut, and glasses who often comes in to look at the books, and spend until closing reading them.
When he first came in Hanta definitely choked on his coffee. Sero would have come over to ask him if he needed anything but Hanta felt like all the air left his lungs when he looked at him. In fact, it took him /days/ to get the courage to ask if he needed anything. But the smile on others' face made it worth it.
"No, I think I'm good for now," he said, "thank you for asking!"
Hanta didn't know how he was standing when he went back to his desk. And when it was time to close He was the last one out.
"Goodbye Sero!" Hanta didn't know how he knew his name until he looked down and saw the pin engraved with his name.
The next day Hanta tried to get a little farther, asking if he needed anything and trying to start a small conversation.
Keyword: trying. He ended up being a blushing mess. Though the one good thing he got out of the mess of a conversation was the others' name. Iida Tenya. Tenya Iida.
Hanta really liked the sound of Iida Hanta, but he never let anyone know. Except for his annoying roommate which spent the night cackling over that fact.
The next day was a little bit less of a mess. Then just talking, and Hanta basking in the small smiles that Iida gave him.
It went on like that for a while, day after day, week after week. And it only made Hanta fall faster.
Of course, he couldn't let Tenya know that. He'd definitely die of embarrassment.
When he opened the shop one day there was a small bouquet of flowers on his desk, a suspicious empty spot in the middle he chose to ignore. He was more thinking along the lines of 'who would send me something like this?' He found out the answer later that day when Tenya came in and set a rose with a note attached in the middle of the bouquet. In the one empty spot.
Hanta just let it happen in front of his eyes, Tenya slowly putting in the flower, then pushing the bouquet to him.
Hanta didn't know if he could breathe. But he opened the note slowly, glancing from Tenya to the note. Once he opened it he found the words that spread a smile on his face, and had changed his life for the better. Hanta even got him a kiss on the process.
