Chapter Text
Jiang Cheng and the rest of the class present couldn't believe their eyes nor ears as they were clamped shut with both hands. Black and red swirls of resentful energy curled around Wei Wuxian, who let out an ear-piercing scream.
Jin Zixuan, who was closest to him and was originally looking at a clenched fist nearly swung in his face and stared in shock at a pair of crimson red eyes as the previously enraged boy had clasped both hands to either side of his head, curling into himself slowly.
The resentful energy only dissipated after Wei Wuxian was fully unconscious. Every talisman the Lan Clan and other disciples threw at it was promptly crushed by the energy as if it had a will of its own.
Lan Wangji was the first to recover from the shock as he promptly lifted the youth into his arms, mumbled something about 'taking him to the infirmary' and carried him out. Jiang Cheng only recovered after that, throwing a glare at the boy that insulted his sister and rushed after his brother and the second Twin Jade.
When Wei Wuxian woke up and opened his eyes, he couldn't shake the unusual feeling that something wasn't right. Waking up in the infirmary of the Cloud Recess didn't surprise him after one too many failed inventions, but right now he shouldn't even lie there. He was supposed to be on a night hunt with the junior disciples Shizui and Jingyi accompanying him. They had been close to QingHe, so if anything he should be lying in the infirmary of the Nie Sect.
“What do you mean you couldn't find anything?! He was surrounded by resentful energy!” now that voice sounded too familiar. Jiang Cheng?! Wei Wuxian found his eyes widen in shock as he jolted upwards. There behind the curtain stood a tiny, well not that tiny but more like a younger, version of Jiang Cheng. Next to him was a younger Lan Wangji. But right then he was spotted by the physician.
“Young Master Wei, you are awake,” the man said and Wei Wuxian looked at him, confused. He found himself starring at the younger man
What the hell?
This physician was younger too!
What in the world was going on?
When he looked for his flute he only saw Suibian lying on the table next to him.
“Wei Wuxian! What in the world happened?!” Jiang Cheng barked as he rushed to his side. But the other just looked at him, baffled and unresponsive. His trademark smile fully forgotten as he stared.
“Wei Ying?” concerned Lan Wangji now made himself known and the silver eyes of the teen snapped to him, flashing with multiple emotions, only to stop at a pained confusion Lan Wangji couldn't understand.
But right then Wei Wuxian bolted.
His feet touched the ground and he was out of the infirmary room in seconds. He ran towards the nearest pond, uncaring if he broke the rules or being seen in his inner robes by bypassing disciples. Sinking to his knees, he looked into his reflection, a 15-year-old, all to familiar, face greeted him and the shock of it so deep that he was frozen in place, hand clenching in his robes.
How was that possible?
Did he travel back in time?
To the moment he studied in Gusu no less?!
That meant...
that meant.
OH GOD!
“Wei Ying,” something was thrown over his shoulder and he flinched away, violently, coming face to face with Lan Zhan as he looked down at him. He blinked and Wei Wuxian instantly noted that he was concerned for the troublemaker.
“Lan Zhan...” he spoke softly only, now realizing that the other had brought his boots and outer robe with him. A furious blush crept over his face as he ducked his head and rushed to put on the rest of his clothes.
“Mn,” the Lan disciple only nodded at him as he had spoken earlier at him.
“What happened?” he asked, fixing a smile on his lips.
But Lan Wangji noted at once that it was not sincere, the glint in those bright silver eyes was missing and the mischievous boy was fidgeting with his waistband as if searching for something that wasn't there.
"Jin Zixuan insulted our sister. You wanted to punch him as... something happened,” another voice spoke and he noticed Jiang Cheng was now there as well, no Zidian he fidgeted with, no usual scowl that spoke of his disdain towards Wei Wuxian and the boy found tears in his eyes as he now shifted his gaze from Lan Zhan to Jiang Cheng, starring openly at his shidi.
“Wei Wuxian, what's wrong with you?” the young heir exclaimed, noticing the unshed tears in his eyes. He kneeled before him, looking at him, uncertain what to do frowning in concern.
“Wei-xiong! What happened? Are you alright?” Nie Huaisang came out of the corner of his eyes and Lan Xichen was followed by his uncle, Lan Qiren.
“What kind of trouble is that boy up to now?” the elder grumbled as they came to stop before him.
“Young Master Wei, how are you feeling? Do you remember anything from before?” Xichen asked.
“No.” Wei Wuxian shook his head at that.
“You look distressed are you certain you should be up and about?”
“Absolutely not,” Jiang Cheng growled “He was covered in resentful energy! And then bolted out the infirmary!” he explained, harshly staring his brother down, or at least that's what he tried.
