Chapter 1: Surprise

Chapter Text

Katsuki should go home to do his laundry.

He bets his whole apartment stinks. How can it not? He spent most of his free time at the hospital he almost live there.

But he can’t leave Deku alone. The fucker just took a blast for him. He can’t let Deku die, not when he owes her too much.

“I think you already slept enough to recover the energy you spent since high school, it’s time to wake up now.” Katsuki gently reprimanded.

The doctors said she’s stable now, but they don’t know when she will wake up. They suggest to constantly talk to Deku in case she can hear them and wake up on her own volition. They have to constantly let Deku know many are waiting for her to wake up.

But the fucker is so stubborn and kept sleeping as she is. Or the blast has affected his hearing?

It’s unnerving to see her like this. Before the incident, Deku looks like she will be getting sick if she keeps her mouth shut for more than 5 minutes. But right now, the only sounds she’s making is from the heart monitor beside her bed.

He hates to admit it but talking to someone not responding for months will get to you eventually. So Katsuki decided to cross his arms beside Deku’s sleeping form and lay his head and rest his eyes for a while.

Katsuki was enjoying his dreamless nap, first time since the incident, when a light poke wakes him up.

Is this a dream?

“H.. hi?” Said the freshly woken patient.

He can’t explain what possessed him but without any second thoughts he tackled the freckled hero to the bed. He might even deny that he cried.

“You scared the shit out of us Deku! Don’t do that again, you hear me?” Katsuki reprimanded when he finally got the strength to let go of Deku.

“eh?” Deku replied. And that gave Katsuki a foreboding feeling.

“Are you ok, Nerd?” He asked.

Deku scratched her cheek. “I’m ok, I guess..”

“but..?” Katsuki egged on.

“I can’t remember anything.”

“ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!”

If he weren’t conscious of the place, Katsuki could be firing off his quirk.

How could Deku not remember anything? And what does anything even mean?

“Hey!” The Nerd protested. “Why would I joke about this? Do you even know how much effort I exert not to panic right now? I don't know where I am or why I am here. And there’s you, some random guy screaming off my face.”

Katsuki.exe stopped responding,

RANDOM GUY?!

R A N D O M   G U Y

Did this fucker just call him a random?

If Katsuki blew up her face, let’s see who’s the random guy now.

He was about to do something when the door burst open and the nerd squad entered.

Then a beat.

“Deku-chan! You’re awake!!” Round face called out and came half running and half flying to the nerd.

The nerd was torn between dodging or accepting her fate but choose the latter. Why? Because she’s a Deku. And it was a permission for Round face to squeeze the hell out of her.

All Katsuki’s irritation flew out the window when idiot starts to turn blue from suffocation.

“Cut it out, she just woke up, don’t kill her for good this time” he said then swooped Deku out of her embrace.

Uraraka came to her senses and realized what she’d done. “Sorry Deku-chan, I’m just so happy you’re finally awake!” She apologizes while slightly shaking her.

“it’s ok Miss. It’s my fault for not dodging.” Deku replied.

The whole room went dead silent. Almost a minute passed when no one dared to say anything. Katsuki and the rest of the Nerdsquad (round cheeks, icy hot, four eyes and kermit) just stared at Deku like she grew another head.

Round-cheeks finally got over her shock and asked, “you called me Miss?” Pointing to herself.

Deku scratched her cheeks meekly, “ yeah, as I was saying to this guy earlier,” vaguely pointing to Katsuki. “I can’t remember anything, not even my name.”
