Work Text:

Okamoto was seething with frustration as he stormed into the room, only to find Yamada Ryosuke lounging in the corner, engrossed in his phone and a bowl of noodles.

“What are you doing?” Okamoto demanded, his voice a mixture of annoyance and curiosity.

Yamada, without looking up, mumbled through a mouthful of noodles, “It’s Black Day.”

“Black Day? What's that?” Okamoto's confusion only seemed to fuel his irritation.

“It’s a South Korean thing. Singles who didn’t get anything on Valentine’s Day eat jajangmyeon,” Yamada explained casually.

Okamoto rubbed his temples. “So you're sulking over not getting chocolates?”

“Self-reflecting,” Yamada corrected, still glued to his screen.

Okamoto rolled his eyes. “Right. Well, we have an interview in 10 minutes.”

Yamada sighed dramatically, finishing his noodles and gulping down the last of his water. As he stood up, Okamoto grabbed his arm and pulled him aside, their chests bumping in a slightly awkward collision.

“What are you doing?” Yamada asked, surprised by Okamoto's sudden assertiveness.

“Is this your go-to move whenever you're mad at me?” Okamoto's tone was serious, but there was a hint of amusement in his eyes.

Yamada smirked. “If only you were that interesting.”

Okamoto, feeling a mix of regret and amusement, pulled out a small box from his pocket and thrust it towards Yamada. “Happy White Day, loser.”

Yamada took the box, his smirk softening into a smile. “You’re the loser,” he teased, opening the box to reveal a thoughtful gift.

The tension between them eased, replaced by a playful banter as they exchanged barbs and jokes, their argument quickly forgotten in the face of camaraderie.

“What? Why are you staring at me like that?” Yamada asked, noticing Okamoto's intense gaze.

“I swear we have these ridiculous arguments all the time,” Okamoto admitted, a hint of fondness in his voice.

Yamada grinned. “It’s what makes us us, you silly English muffin.”

As they headed to the interview, their friendship felt stronger than ever, a blend of humor, exasperation, and genuine affection that made them a dynamic duo, even on their worst days.

I wrote this several years ago but I wanted to edit this (because Okayama is awesome) and wanted to get back to writing again :D
