These Words We Say

Summary:

Bakugou can hear everything Kirishima says. There is fluff and cuteness and just overall goofiness (I hope...)

This is technically a sequel to a different soulmate story I wrote, but this can definitely be read as stand alone.

Notes:

Some of you asked for this, and so I wrote it! Welcome to the sequel of These Words we Think, the story of Bakugou and Kirishima!

I'm sorry this took so long, but life happened and so it took a while.

(P.s. I have always loved the idea of deaf Bakugou, so I sorta jumped on that.)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“I already told you, Clueless, I am busy right now. These people are looking at me like I’m schizophrenic or something!” Bakugou Katsuki was sitting on the bus, talking with his boyfriend, earning strange looks from the other occupant on the bus.

Why are they looking at him weirdly, you might ask?

Because his boyfriend was not actually there, and there’s no phone to be seen on Katsuki.

That’s is because this boyfriend was Katsuki’s soulmate, with whom he shared a bond where everything they say the other can hear.

But babe! I want to talk with you more! Tell me about yourself!

“Not while I’m on the damn bus.” he grumbled. They figured out that no matter what volume they spoke at, the other could hear at a normal volume. Katsuki looked up and his eyes met with an older woman who was giving a stare now, clearly trying to figure him out. “Mind your own business, granny!”

Babe.

Katsuki swore internally. 2 weeks of knowing this guy and Katsuki already felt bad about disappointing him.

Thankfully, it was Katsuki’s stop, so he hopped out of his seat and onto the sidewalk. He walked down a little bit before he got to his destination, UA High and its entrance exam.

Maybe we can try meeting! How cool would that be?

“No, you need to focus on the test. If you make it to UA then I’ll see you. Think of it as a reward.” whispered Katsuki, trying to not look completely insane to the people around him. He made sure to keep his head high and walked straight towards the door. “I am going radio silent for a bit. Say ‘Babe’ if you want my attention.”

Stopping for a moment, Katsuki reached behind his ear and turned the little knob on his hearing aids. Ever since he was 6 he had been considered legally deaf and needed hearing aids. It was a nasty side effect of his quirk, but he made do with what he had. The blond was also fluent in JSL and could read lips, both of which will aid him when he is doing pro work and his hearing aids are compromised.

“Hi Kacchan!” signed Deku as the boy approached Katsuki.

Katsuki gave Izuku a lazy wave and pointed to his ear and signed “ No,” to let Deku know that his aids were off.

To show he understood, he nodded. “ Will you turn on hearing aids? Or do you need me to translate?

Katsuki shrugged and once again walked towards UA, feeling certain that Deku was behind him as he moved.

Ow. I hope that kid isn’t hurt. Good thing the girl caught him with her quirk.

Without even turning around, Katsuki knew exactly who his soulmate was talking about. He let out a heavy sigh before he turned on his heel and looked at Deku, who was floating about 2 feet in the air and a girl was giggling at him.

The girl was cute in the general sense. She had brown hair and round pink cheeks. Definitely the type of girl who you would expect to be nice and sweet then she knocks you onto your ass, still smiling at you like she was an angel. Katsuki might think about getting to know her if she made it into UA.

Sorry Kacchan. I stumbled on my shoelace.” Deku pointed down to his untied shoelace. “Luckily she caught me.” Honestly, if Katsuki hadn’t been using JSL for nearly 10 years, he would have had no idea what the broccoli boy was saying.

The girl said something that Katsuki didn’t catch, but he could tell she was judging him because of how narrowed her eyes were compared to normal. Not feeling like he wanted to figure out what she said, he verbally went, “Tch” turned back to the door and continued on his way.

You were loud. ” Deku signed as he caught up with Katsuki. “ She was asking if you were deaf. Nothing mean.”

Katsuki shrugged and opened the door, he let Izuku in first, then followed. They walked together into the presentation hall. They sat next to each other since Katsuki didn’t feel like turning on his aids and he couldn’t read lips from this distance.

“Can you translate for me?” Katsuki signed. He knew it made Deku feel better to translate. He was a linguistic learner, so repeating it in JSL helped him process the information and saved everyone from suffering through his muttering. He still mutters sometimes anyways, but at least it was greatly reduced when he signed.

As Present Mic began speaking, Deku began signing. Everything was pretty straightforward until an asshole interrupted everything.

Deku pointed backwards to indicate to the guy as he signed in translation, “ Excuse me!

Katsuki rolled his eyes and looked at the guy who stopped the instructions. It was a guy who was about 180cm and had glasses that were perfectly placed atop his nose. He was sadly too far away for Katsuki to read hi lips, so he relied on Izuku’s translations.

Do you intend on continuing to move your hands wildly through the entire presentation? It is highly distracting and is disrespectful to the heroes who have taken their time to come here today.

That does it . Katsuki thought as he stood up and signed to Deku, “ Tell him this ,” Izuku looked a little nervous as he rose, face red, but standing none-the-less. “ My friend and I are here to take the test just like anyone else. Bakugou has been deaf since he was 6 and his hearing aids are getting feedback in this large room, so he is having me translate for him. Now go fuck off.”

Katsuki could read Izuku’s lips from this distance and could tell that he said, “Now go… bleep off.”

Face red and hands shaking, Izuku looked at Katsuki. “ We should sit down. He apologized.

Katsuki nodded and they took their seats and Present Mic resumed speaking.

Throughout the test, both physical and written, Katsuki could hear his soulmate muttering things, which was kind of adorable, but Katsuki would rather blast himself into the stratosphere than admit that.

“Hey, Nerd.” Katsuki said as Deku joined him in front of the school. He had turned his hearing aids back on when the physical exam finished, which he knew because he had a timer on his wrist that vibrates when there was 1 minute then 30 seconds then when it went off.

“Hi, Kacchan! I am so sorry about the guy calling us out and having to tell about your hearing.” Deku then went on a ramble that Katsuki ignored, instead choosing to drag the other towards the bus stop with him. They lived a block away from each other, so taking the bus together was a common thing. They hadn’t done it this morning since Katsuki had a meeting with his doctor that went until 30 minutes before check-in began for the exams.

They walked onto the bus, where Katsuki and Deku compared test experiences. Katuski was a little saddened, but not at all surprised about hearing that Deku got zero points on the physical exam.

“Don’t worry so much, Deku. The gen-ed course ain’t the worst thing in the fuckin’ world.” Katsuki tried to console his friend. He knew that the Gen-Ed course wasn’t as good as the hero course, but Deku needed to have his spirits saved at least a little.

Izuku gave the blond a shaky smile before sinking down further into his bus seat.

Since when do you think the gen-ed course isn’t that bad? Who changed your mind?

Katsuki rolled his eyes. He mumbled low in his throat, “Since my nerd is most likely getting in it.”

Deku did okay on his written exam? That’s awesome!

“Yeah, the nerd did fine. He ain’t the stupidest.”

“Thanks, Kacchan!” Deku smiled at Katsuki, who scowled a little at him.

Oh! So you know JSL, right? What were those two saying? You know, the ones who interrupted the explanation.

“How much did you notice about the two?”

Not much, I just remember two people who were moving their hands a fair bit. It was too dark for me to get details. I think one of them signed “fuck,” but that’s all I remember.

“I did sign that, yeah. I was telling him to mind his own business and that he shouldn’t stop my friend from helping me understand what is being said.”

THAT WAS YOU?!?

Though Katsuki couldn’t hear the change of volume, the change in tone made it very clear.

“Yes, that was me. The other one was Deku.”

Oh my gods! You were like 10 rows ahead of me! We were so close to meeting!

Deku poked Katsuki and asked, “Is your soulmate freaking out?”

Katsuki nodded because he wasn’t going to try and interrupt his soulmates ramble. It was cute, and clearly the boy needed to get this energy out, so best he do that in a way Katsuki can enjoy.

Soon the bus pulled up to the boys stop. Katsuki turned right and Deku turned left.

The next week or so passed by as normal. Katsuki and his soulmate talked. Deku muttered a lot. Katsuki had to yell once or twice because his hearing aids gave out again, which made people think he was bullying Deku.

Truth was, Katsuki would just get frustrated and sometimes he wouldn’t keep track of what he says, or they think he means something malicious when he really doesn’t.

“Forget about UA, nerd.” he once said when Izuku was getting too anxious about whether or not he passed the entrance exam. People later told him that he should leave Izuku alone and not be so rude to him.

Don’t worry about them, Babe, you are doing great, his soulmate would say to Katsuki after a particularly bad day.

Then the UA letters of acceptance or rejection came out.

“Welcome, young Bakugou, to UA High! ” All Might's canned voice filled Bakugou’s room. The great part was, the high school made sure to have All Might (poorly) sign the words as he said them.

I got into UA!!!

Katsuki smiled to himself, he could hear that his soulmate was beyond happy. “Great job, Clueless. I can’t wait to see you there.”

He heard the other boy grumble something about him promising to let them meet if they both got into UA, but Katsuki just tsked at him.

“I promised we’d meet at UA, I don’t know where you got to thinking I would break the original rule.”

The original rule was something they made within the first day of them being to hear each other, “No meeting until brought together by fate.”

Darn you and your rule followingness. I want to meet you nooooooowwww!

“Hold your horses. It’s only another month.” Katsuki walked into the kitchen to grab something to snack on until he and his mom started dinner. He chose to have some senbei and plopped down on the couch to look up stuff on his computer.

But it’s like the longest month EVER!

“How about this, I will tell you my nickname and you tell me yours. Deal? That way we know each other a little better.” Katsuki relaxed back onto the couch and closed his eyes, waiting for his soulmates response.

Sounds good. My family calls me Ei.

Cute. After a moment Katsuki said, “Deku calls me Kacchan. Don’t you dare use that willy nilly in front of our classmates though.” Oh the nightmare that would occur if just anyone called him by that stupid nickname.

Awwww! That’s so cute!

The words made Katsuki’s face heat up and a smile played with the blondes lips. “I’m glad you like it.”

The two ended up talking for awhile. Katsuki talked about how he had to deal with some kids who were bullying Deku, but of course his aids died right before since one of his classmates let their magnet quirk loose.  This made it so he was louder and didn’t understand everything they were saying.

That sucks, Kacchan. At least Deku understood what was going on.

“Yeah, I guess that’s true.”

A moment later, Katsuki’s computer started to vibrate, a thing set up so he would always know if someone called.

“I need to go, Ei. Deku’s calling me.”

Bye

Katsuki answered the face call and waved to Deku. “ Hey, nerd.”

“Oh my gosh! I think I just saw your soulmate!”

All Katsuki could do for a moment was laugh. Katsuki was supposed to join Deku today to go shopping, but of course he decided to skip because right before his hearing aids went down it made a giant shriek in his ears, giving him a massive headache. “ What makes you say that?”

Deku smiled and started to move his hands rapidly, “I was walking out of the All Might store and saw a guy talking to himself, and I thought it was odd since what are the odds that someone your age also has a soulmate bond based on speaking! That’s when I heard him say something about how it sucked that the guys hearing aid died. I wanted to go up and talk to him, just to see, then he said KACCHAN! And then he said Deku! That’s him, right? Right?

Katsuki ran a hand over his eyes. His brain was swimming from having to track Deku’s wild hands through the screen, and the fact that now Deku knew who his soulmate was even though Katsuki himself didn’t know. “ That was him.

In the back of his head, he heard Ei say, Kacchan?

Needing to make Deku stop talking for a moment, Katsuki signed, “ Be right back. ” then he muted his mic and ran off to be out of the cameras range.

Hello.

“Um… hi?”

Uh-huh. Yep. Oh! Oh my gosh! Thanks so much, Midoriya! Bye!

Izuku. What have you done? Thought Katsuki to himself. “You want to tell me what just happened? Why were you speaking with Deku?” Katsuki walked back to his computer and glared at Deku, who was looking a little too smug.

At the same time, Ei said and Deku signed, “ Oops.

“Yeah, oops.” Katsuki waved goodbye to Deku and closed his computer. Katsuki went up to his room and laid down on his bed with it’s All Might themed covers. “So, you met Deku. What did he say to you that got you so excited?”

He told me who he was, and gave me a tip to use in the future.

“Do I even want to know?”

There was silence for a few moments before Ei replied with, maybe later.

This did not spark any confidence in Katsuki. In fact, it made him more anxious about the start of high school.

“Have you given up on trying to meet up before school starts?”

Yeah. Seeing Deku made me decide that waiting won’t be the worst thing in the world.

“If seeing Deku made you okay with waiting, then seeing me will make you willing to wait another year.”

I think that’s impossible. Ei said with a bit of a laugh. Besides, it’s not like Deku scared me off or anything. It’s more like he sated my need to meet you for the moment.

“That’s good.”

He felt the floor shake a little and then a little light in his room blinked. It was a system they had made so that Katsuki would always know when his family got home, even if his hearing aids were off. Basically, there is a button by each of the entrances to the house that was connected to a system of lights in the house that were in every room besides his parents room.

“I got to go, one of my parents just got here. Talk to you later.” Katsuki leaped off his bed and went down to find his dad relaxing on the couch, his work clothes still on.

Hey, dad. ” Katsuki signed after knocking on the wall to get his dad’s attention.

His dad looked up and waved. “ Hearing aids broken?

“Kids magnet quirk went off.My hearing aids broke, and the feedback did a number on my head.” Katsuki went and sat down near his father and used a hand to massage his forehead.

His dad tapped his shoulder then signed, “ Did you take medicine?”

“Yes. ” Katsuki rolled his eyes as he said this. His dad was a little bit simple with his thinking processes. Of course he took tylenol the moment he got home.

Once he was certain that his son would be okay, Masaru went on to tell Katsuki about his day. Mainly there was a new client that visited who was deaf, so Masaru got to talk with him.

Katsuki was less than thrilled about hearing this boring story, especially when his dad tried to quote some old timer jokes that Masaru thought were hilarious.

Thankfully, the lights blinked again, announcing that Mitsuki was home. The woman quickly picked up the fact that her son and husband were signing to each other and joined in.

What broke the hearing aids this time? ” The woman had an unimpressed look on her face, but she was by no means mad.

“Magnet quirk kid. ” This had happened before, about 2 months ago actually.

They discussed when they could take him in to get new hearing aids.

About 10 minutes later, Katsuki changed the topic, “ I got into UA. So did my soulmate. Oh, and Deku met my soulmate today.

Both parents froze, trying to unpack each sentence like one would unwrap an ancient vase.

They got into UA as well, so I’ll see them there.”

“Wait wait wait wait wait!” Katsuki saw his mom say. Then the woman signed, “ You have a soulmate? Since when? What type of bond?”

“A few months now, and we can hear what the other verbally says. Like a telephone call.”

Katsuki didn’t have to react before Mitsuki was squshing him with a big hug and jumping up and down with him. When she let him go she signed, “ Now you can never be fully deaf. You’ll always be able to hear your soulmates voice.

He had never thought about it like that, but it was a nice thing to think about. No matter how many times his hearing aids broke, no matter how bad his hearing got, he would always be able to hear Ei’s voice.

Wasn’t that just the sappiest thing ever?

Yeah, I guess. I’m going to head up to bed now. Night!”

The next month passed like a dream. Katsuki and Deku graduated from their middle school, so did Ei. They had a quick break then went on to UA. Bakugou arrived early, not wanting to miss the opportunity to meet his soulmate as soon as possible.

There were about 3 other kids already there, one was a blond kid with a bolt in his hair, a girl with a huge ponytail and a guy with very nerdy glasses and huge calves with what appeared to be rockets coming out of them.

It took Katsuki all of five minutes to figure out what the blond kids quirk was. This was because the idiot had started talking with a kid that came in a few seconds after Katsuki, and when the blond went to show off his quirk, a pink haired girl smiled adn winked at him, so the ball of electricity scattered out of his hands. It wasn’t stong enough to hurt anyone, but it fried Katsuki’s hearing aids.

“Jesus, Mother Mary and Joseph!” Katsuki shouted as the hearing aids released one last scream as they died.

The kid with the glasses then started berating him, but Katsuki’s head was ringing too much to really catch onto what he was saying. Katsuki did realize that it was the same dipshit who called Deku out for translating for Katsuki.

“I can’t hear you .” Katsuki tried to sign in stupid sign, the kind that he does with people he knows don’t understand JSL, but he needs to get them to understand.

The guy's eyes widened and he walked away after what seemed like an apology.

Soon Katsuki saw some familiar green hair in the doorway.

Without even really thinking about it, Katsuki shouted, “Fuckin’ Deku, how did you get in the Hero Course?” He was mainly saying this out of shock from seeing his friend in his class, meaning he wasn’t entirely screwed when it came to having hearing aid failure.

He saw that Izuku turned red and muttered something as he signed, “ I got lucky, I suppose.

When the teacher came forward, he introduced himself, but didn’t get far as he tried to explain his situation, “ I am deaf and pikachu broke my hearing aids with his electricity, so I need Midoriya to translate for me.”

The teacher smiled and signed, “ Sure thing. ” the teacher said something to Midoriya. The guy muttered, so Bakugou couldn’t read his lips at all.

“Apparently, Aizawa knows basic JSL, but he thinks it would be better for me to help you. ” Midoriya then moved his and Bakugou’s desks so they were next to each other.

The quirk comprehension thing went by quickly, Katsuki did amazing, of course. The weird thing was, the entire time this redhead was staring at him, and he couldn’t figure out who his Soulmate was. He heard Ei talk a few times, but couldn’t ever place it on one of the other UA students.

Soon enough lunch came and Katsuki got some freedom from having to read lips or Izuku's hands.

Katsuki chose a seat near the doors so he could leave as soon as he finished. What he didn’t expect was for the redhead to come and sit across from him. The other thing he didn’t expect was for the redhead to sign and say, “Hi, Kacchan .”

And Katsuki heard him. Katsuki heard the redheads voice.

“Ei?” Katsuki whispered.

The redhead smiled and said, “So you are the amazing Kacchan. Nice to see you.” Ei turned his head to see three other kids come their way. Ei muttered under his breath, they don’t know you are deaf, do you want to keep that hidden? If so I’ll just say what they do and help you hide it. It’ll also hide the soulmate thing until we get used to it.

Katsuki nodded and smiled at his redhead.

Over here, guys ! called Ei to the others. The three sat down, the pink girl adn the plain looking boy next to EIjirou and Pikachu by Katsuki. This is, Ei froze when he realized that they hadn’t properly introduced themselves.

“Bakugou Katsuki.” quickly covered.

Nice name . Ei whispered under his breath. Pink is Ashido Mina, Sero Hanta is black hair and Kaminari Denki is beside you . Ei then said at what must have been a normal volume, I’m Kirishima Eijirou. Katsuki here is my boyfriend. We met over the break and hit it off instantly.

He felt Kaminari get up from next to him and he switched places with Eijirou, who was more than happy to get close to Katsuki.

Babe, how about we meet up with Midoriya before class resumes? You have told me so much about him I feel like I need to meet him in more depth!

Katsuki nodded, and after a few more minutes of stupid conversation between the other four, Eijirou and Katsuki were heading off to meet up with Deku before class started.

“Hey, Nerd.

Deku waved and smiled when he processed who Eijirou was. He said something to Ei and Ei replied with, Hey, Deku. Would you be okay if I translate when Katsuki needs it from now on?

Deku nodded and said what seemed to be, “How about we start tomorrow?”

It was almost like they forgot Katsuki was deaf. Thank gods he could read their lips.

Sure thing! Eijirou gave a smile so bright, Katsuki swore he had swallowed the sun. Let’s get going, Kacchan!

The three entered the classroom and enjoyed their few moments of calm before class resumed.

While Deku helped provide the signs for Katsuki for the next two periods, by the final one he was getting tired, so he had Eijirou take his place.

So Ecto needs us to sign a syllabus for the class. Due this Friday. He is now going to explain the lesson plan for the year. Oh, he is asking you a question now. Apparently Aizawa’s warning didn’t make it to Ectoplasm since the teacher had been doing nothing to make things easier for Katsuki. He didn’t even put the questions he’s asking on the board!

“Yes, sir?”

He wants you to tell him what the derivative of cosine x is.

“It’s negative sine x.” Katsuki learned this stuff last year, so it didn’t take much thinking to answer the question.

You got it right!

“No shit, Sherlock.” Katsuki said under his breath.

There weren’t many more incidents after that, just that apparently Kaminari came to speak with Bakugou while he was packing up. Apparently, Kaminari told Eijirou that Katsuki was kinda rude and needed to learn to be nicer to people when they talk to him.

Deciding that he might as well tell Kaminari the truth to make things easier for Eijirou, Katsuki dragged Kaminari off with him to a place a little bit away from the sidewalk.

“Listen, Pikachu, I wasn’t fucking ignoring you. Your little mess-up this morning broke my hearing aids, so now I am completely deaf. The only reason I could talk to you was because of Ei.”

Kaminari’s eyes widened as he said something that looked like, Bee Soulmate .

“I can’t hear you, dipshit. Eijirou isn’t here to say what you do, and Deku can’t sign for me. I’m gonna guess that you are saying something along the lines of you realizing that Ei is my soulmate, which is the truth.”

“Sorry. ” Kaminari signed.

“You know JSL?”

Kaminari did a hand gesture to represent a little, then he said something else. Katsuki thought he was doing fine with the whole lip reading thing, but ended up missing a single word and suddenly everything got thrown off.

He’s saying that I taught him how to apologize. I figured out pretty quickly that he broke your hearing aids.

Katsuki turned around to find his amazing boyfriend there behind him, who was smiling softly, looking like an angel on earth.

“Hey, Ei.”

EIjirou wrapped an arm around Katsuki as he joked, I hope you weren't giving Denki too hard of a time. That’s Mina’s job.

Kaminari appeared to have made a protest but was cut off by Eijirou’s laughter. The laugh rumbled through Eijirou and into Katsuki, which was fairly comforting.

Suddenly Kaminari was saying something and holding his hand out towards Katsuki.

He wants to fix your hearing aids.

Shrugging, Katsuki reached into his pocket and pulled out the case he had for his hearing aids. Yes, they broke often enough that he had a plan for when they broke. He handed them over to the other blond, who got to work once Katsuki showed him how to open them. A few minutes later, Pikachu was handing him back his hearing aids.

“Did it work?” Kaminari asked once Katsuki put them in and turned them on. There was a little ringing in it, but it would work for now.

“It’s decent. I’ll probably do a more detailed repair when I get home. At least you didn’t have a magnet quirk. Those knock hearing aids out for good.”

The three went their separate ways, not before Eijirou kissed Katsuki’s cheek, of course. A bit later Katsuki was in his bed, remembering how cute and amazing his soulmate was.

“AAAAAAAAA!” screamed Denki out of fucking nowhere. It was a few days before finals, and Denki just had to interrupt their lessons.

The scream made Katsuki wish he had turned off his hearing aids, but sadly he didn’t.

He whipped his head around to stare at the electric blond, who was looking like he had seen a ghost.

“Soulbond,” whispered Katsuki under his breath. He recognized the look of panic and the fact he screamed in the middle of class.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Eijirou nod, the redhead was watching his friend with concern.

You okay, bro?

A few minutes later Aizawa raced out of the classroom. The class decided to keep quiet until he returned. When he did, he was doing that small creepy smile he sometimes does.

They went into discussion about what they need to study for the finals, which Katsuki felt pretty comfortable about.

Once lunch rolled around, Denki looked defeated. His head drooped and all his spark seemed faded, but there was also a new energy around him.

“So, you got your soulbond?” asked Eijirou when it was just the couple and Denki.

Denki let out a little huff and went back to staring at his food. “Yeah. But he doesn’t want to meet me during lunch today.”

“But fate gave you two the same lunch!”

Cue Katsuki hitting his forehead.

Smacking his hands on the table, Denki exclaimed, “That’s what I told him!”

“Both of you need to chill the fuck out! This guy is being reasonable. You should wait a while so you know each other and when you meet you meet. Don’t pressure him or you will both have a miserable time.” In the absence of Denkis semi-intelligent sounding soulmate, Katsuki had to play the voice of reason.

“So, Denks, what's your bond?”

Denki seemed a little more spirited as he said, “It’s kinda weird. We can hear each other's thoughts, like, all the time it seems.”

“Sounds like the sibling to our bond, Ei.” This perspective on it made both Eijirou and Denki break out into chatter. Katsuki tuned the world out as this happened and just focused on Eijirou’s voice in his head.

The next morning came without much fuss, he had stayed up late studying with Ei from their own rooms, talking as they went though the problems. And, upon Katsuki’s request, they both got to sleep by 10, which was reasonable since Eijirou doesn’t stop talking before bed, so the later he stayed up, the later Katsuki stayed up.

It was time for the finals, which apparently involved fighting the teachers. Of course he got partnered with Deku to go against All Might.

Within the first minute, All Might made Katsuki turn off his hearing aids due to the power the teacher put into his destruction.

Katsuki really needed to look into getting better hearing aids.

The rest of the fight was a blur. Katsuki is fairly certain that he was used to smack down Deku at some point. He is also fairly sure that his class thought that he was a monster because he signed when he wasn’t yelling, and the class only saw the yelling.

It’s okay, Kacchan. I know that you are a hero. And I know Ei knows too.”

Cue a defeated Eijirou coming into the room, looking worse for wear. The redhead went onto the bed Katsuki was occupying, climbed into Katsuki’s lap and promptly fell asleep.

Deku decided to not disturb the couple and left the room quietly. Katsuki then turned them so he could relax as well. Recovery Girl had called so both Katsuki’s parents were coming to pick them both up later.

When Mitsuki and Masaru showed up, they woke Katsuki so that he could carry Eijirou out to the car. In the car, Katsuki laid Eijirou across the seat and moved it so his head was in Katsuki’s lap.

As they drove out to drop off Eijirou, Katsuki stroked his soulmate's hair. It was surprisingly soft underneath all the gel he used to keep it up.

At one point Eijirou woke up, and once he realized where he was and who he was with, he got comfortable again and resumed his sleep.

Outside the world passed by in a blur of cars and buildings and people, but Katsuki took no notice. He was too busy admiring the sleeping Eijirou.

Take a picture, it will last longer . Eijirou’s voice rang through his head. The smile on the redheads face made it clear to Katsuki that he wasn’t imagining things.

“No thanks, Sunshine. I prefer to enjoy your beauty in the moment.”

From the front of the car, Mitsuki started laughing. She leaned over to the driving Masaru to say, “Who knew that our sun was such a Casa Nova?”

“Mooom.” Katsuki felt his face heat up as he tried to hide behind his hands.

“What sparked the flirting though? I didn’t hear anything.” Masaru said in a very logical tone.

Mitsuki’s eyes narrowed as she searched the couple for any clues. “You’re right, darling.”

“Mom, this is my soulmate and boyfriend Eijirou. I’m fairly certain you know how our bond works.” Katsuki tried to not look at his parents as he said this. He had never explicitly told his parents he was gay, so there was a little more weight with his words.

“Oh. Welcome to the family, Eijirou. And Kacchan,” Mitsuki turned to meet her son's eyes, “we still love you more than life itself.”

Katsuki felt like a tiny weight he hadn’t even known was there had  just been lifted off his chest.

Thank you, Mrs. Bakugou.

“He says thank you. And, babe, her name is Mitsuki. My dad’s Masaru.”

He felt Eijirou nod and snuggle closer to him.

Soon though, they reached Eijirou’s house, and the redhead had to leave the car.

Bye, babe, Whispered Eijirou.

“Bye, Sunshine.”

The family drove away after Eijirou entered his house. It seemed like a cozy place to live.

After finals had finished, the students all started talking about going shopping after school got out. Katsuki wasn’t one for these kinds of gatherings, so he choose to just head straight home instead.

Man, I need some new shoes. Katsuki was laying down in his bed, looking at old screenshots on his phone when he heard his soulmates chatter.

“It better not be another pair of fucking crocs. I’m still figuiring out how hot I need to make my hands in order to melt those stupid shits.”

You wouldn’t dare.

Katsuki smirked, “Try me.”

He heard Kirishima talking to someone who wasn’t him, it was clearly about how annoyed he was at Katsuki, but all it did was make Katsuki laugh.

Soon Katsuki went and started blaring music through the homes speaker system. While the music was going he got to work cooking. He was going to be hanging out with Eijirou tomorrow so they could prepare for the school trip, so he decided to make some snacks for it.

All was calm for another hour, Katsuki had gotten done making some granola bars and chips and was now relaxing on the couch, when he heard Eijirou.

Shit! Midoriya, are you okay?!? Was that handsy dude just now?

Without wasting another moment, Katsuki was racing to the garage, grabbing his bike, and heading off to the mall at top speed.

“Ei, what’s going on?” asked Katsuki as he waited for a light to turn green.

I… I don’t know. We were all good one moment, the next Shigaraki was holding Deku’s neck. I saw it from above, but I couldn’t get there fast enough.

Katsuki took a breath. Soon the light changed and he continued his rush to get to his soulmate. “Hang tight, Sunshine. I’m coming over right now.”

Yeah, okay.

Not too long later, Katsuki reached the mall. He was panting and sweating a little, so he had to make sure that he wouldn’t activate his quirk, but that wasn’t much of an issue.

There were cop cars all around the mall, sirens blaring and reporters there. Aizawa was herding his kids, trying to make sure they were all okay. Sometimes the man could be such a mother hen.

Within moments of stepping up to the scene, Katsuki found Eijirou and Deku, who were talking to each other.

Do you think you could teach me JSL? I want to be able to talk with Kacchan no matter what.

“Doof. You don’t need JSL for us to understand each other.” Katsuki said as he ruffled Eijirou’s hair, breaking it loose from its gel’s grip.

“Yeah, but I want to understand what you say to others when you sign. It would be helpful.” said Eijirou.

Katsuki then moved on to check on the other person in their group, “Are you okay, Deku? Did Hand Job hurt you?”

“I’m fine. ” signed Izuku, hands shaking slightly.

Rolling his eyes, Katsuki replied, “You aren’t fine if you can’t even talk.

Izuku didn’t reply, so Katsuki chose to bring out the big guns. “Okay, up we go. We are going to go into town to get food, my treat.”

So, with Deku over his shoulder and Eijirou holding onto his arm while dragging his bike along, Katsuki led them to the part of town that resided in between Eijirous place and the other two boys. It was a nice place with lots of different places to get food. Katsuki led them to the ramen place he and Deku loved. It was a quaint place that was tucked into a quieter part of the area.

Inside, the three chose the seats by the window so they could enjoy the view of the city while they ate.

Katsuki got the spiciest dish he could, Deku got a small bowl of a chicken ramen and Eijirou got a meat heavy one with extra meat.

Sometimes Katsuki worried about Eijirou’s health. Both physical and mental.

“You two ready for the camp tomorrow?” asked Katsuki as they waited for their food to arrive.

Eijirou suddenly looked very worried, “I don’t want to know what Aizawa has in store for us. Nothing good can come from that man when he wants to prove a point.”

Shrugging, Deku said, “I think it will be a good opportunity to get better insight to how to use our quirks. Maybe we will get some fresh insight and even some pro tips!”

“Glad to have you back, nerd.”

The three went on to chat until it was time to go home so they could get a good night's rest before whatever awaited them at the camp.

This definitely wasn’t what Katsuki was expecting.

The games, yes; having to cook for himself, yes; training at ridiculous levels, of course. But getting attacked by villains whose only goal was to capture Katsuki, that was not on the itinerary.

One minute, Katsuki was going around in the dark with half n’ half, trying to handle the torture of being “scared” by the class 1-B losers, the next minute, a fuckin villain straight from a horror film. It was trying to talk, but it’s tooth quirk got in the way.

“What is that?” asked Todoroki, flames coming from his arm.

Katsuki smiled and looked at the creepy guy, “Target practice.” The blonde turned off his hearing aids before going after the villain, hands sending off small explosions.

Next thing he knew, the guy was out and he and half n’ half were receiving word that he was the main target.

Katsuki! Where are you? I’m coming to get you. Eijirou’s voice rang through Katsuki’s head, the panic piercing through each word.

“Don’t, Ei. Stay where you are. I can handle myself.” Katsuki chose to ignore the look Todoroki was throwing him in favor of keeping his soulmate out of harms way.

Nope. You are my soulmate and I need to help you! I couldn’t bear it if something happened.

It tore Katsuki open to hear Eijirou in such a state, but there wasn’t any other way.

There was a loud rumble from within the woods. Katsuki and Eijirou got into fighting positions only for whatever may come. Out of the tree coverage ran SHouji and Deku followed by a fucking huge dark shadow who was destroying everything in its path. Taking the cue from Todoroki’s own flames, Bakugou made some explosions in order to weaken dark shadow.

Once it seemed that Tokoyami was calmed enough, Katsuki turned to Deku, who was looking worse for wear.

“Fuckin’ Deku! What the hell were you thinking coming out here when you are so injured? I can handle myself well enough, damnit!”

It seemed that some of the others were scolding him for talking to Deku in such a way, but Katsuki didn’t care. He was more worried about the fact that Deku was so beat up that he couldn’t even communicate to Katsuki.

Deciding that his hearing was not as important as communicating to the group, Katsuki turned on his hearing aids once again.

“What’s the plan, Nerd?” he asked as he walked forward so he was a few feet away from Deku.

A few moments of silence later, Deku had come up with a plan. It involved keeping Katsuki in the center of their group so that he was being defended on all sides as they walked through the dark woods back to the main building. Katsuki hated it. He hated feeling like he needed to be protected, but he realized that it was fine so long as it kept Deku and Eijirou calm.

The plan was going well. They were making good progress. Apparently Eijirou’s group was also doing fine now since the villains realized that Katsuki wasn’t with them. Of course, this news made Katsuki’s group even more wary since it meant more villains would be targeting them.

This fact was proven when suddenly everything went black and Katsuki felt as if he had been put to sleep in a tiny box.

When he woke up, he heard Izuku screaming for him. He saw the idiot running on his broken legs trying to reach out to Katsuki. He felt the burning hot hand surrounding his throat.

“Stay back, Deku,” was all Katsuki got out before the portal enveloped him and took him to some rundown bar.

Once again, everything went black.

Katsuki, babe. Please answer me. Please. Eijirou sounded defeated, voice holding a sadness that was indescribable.

Slowly, Katsuki opened his eyes and took in his surroundings. The place was the same as it was when katsuki was knocked unconscious, but at least there were no villains in the room that he could see.

“Hey, Sunshine,” whispered Katsuki. “Are you okay?”

Am I okay?? How can you ask me that? You were captured? Where are you? Momo, Deku, and I are coming to get you, so stay where you are.

“Stay where you are. I don’t know where I am and I don’t know where the villains are, so I’m going to go quiet. But please, keep talking, I need to know you are there.”

Normally, Katsuki would refuse to show that much weakness, but to hell with that. He was terrified. He is just a teenager and just got abducted.

Yeah. Yeah, I can do that. I’ll tell you stories about my childhood. So one time I… Eijirou went on to talk about how he learned about how mean squirrels were and how they were just little thieves.

“Ah, you finally woke up, Bakugou.” Katsuki looked up to meet insane red eyes belonging to handjob, who was wearing his signature hands. The guy lightly scratched at his neck before going to stand at the wall.

Man, what a weirdo . Thought Katsuki as he tried to get out of his restraints. Mainly it was just for show, trying to keep up the whole “big tough guy” look these villains seemed to think he was.

So then I saw the squirrel dragging the potato on the ground…

“Let me go, fucker.” Katsuki heard Eijirou’s words stop, then he continued with a false carefree attitude.

“Fucker? Hardly knew her.” said patchwork, who had a fairly familiar smile on his face, but that was a can of worms for later.

“So Bakugou, we have only one topic to talk on right now, will you join us in our hopes to rid the world of the filth of the world?” Handjob was staring at Katsuki with a serious intensity.

“Never. I will never join you.”

Katsuki? Oh Jesus, we are going to hurry up now. Hang tight. The heroes also are coming up with a plan. I love you so much Katsuki, don’t ever forget that.

How Katsuki longed to reply, to reassure Ei that he wasn’t going anywhere, but he knew that that would be a huge risk.

“Think about it, child, you are alone, and the world views you as a monster. You have the power, we have the brains, so join us and help us defeat All Might.”

“Are you guys dense? Not everyone sees me as a monster.”

You are so right, Kat. You are like my angel from hell, perfect in every way.

Handjob smirked as he went to the tv, his blue hair shifted as he leaned sideways over it before turning it on. “Oh really?” He gave a twisted smile. “Then why is this on right now?”

The screen whirled to life, illuminating the dark room. Katsuki had to blink at the unwelcome attack on his retinas, but once he regained his sight he was shocked by what he saw. On the bottom of the screen it read “Will UA’s Captured Student Become a Villain?”

The woman behind the desk was speaking. “ -gou was kidnapped two days ago by the League of Villains while at a summer camp with his classmates. Sources say that it’s because the young boy has had a tendency for villain-like behaviours, as was seen at the Sports Festival this year.

Katsuki looked away as the image of him showed up on the screen. He always felt sick looking at it. He was just so angry at the time. They didn’t have to muzzle him though.

I’m just getting word that Bakugou’s teacher, Pro Hero Eraserhead, is speaking about the topic now. Sohma?”

“Thank you. I am Sohma Touhru, live at UA’s press conferance where the principal and class 1-A’s teacher are speaking on the issue.”

Let’s have two climb on a different two’s shoulders

The camera panned over to where Aizawa was standing. He looked as neutral as ever. “ You lot must be idiots if you think Bakugou would join the LoV. That boy may have… dramatic tendencies, but he is one of the most dedicated students I have. Nothing in this world would make him change his mind.”

Don’t worry, Momo, use my nightvision goggles.

Of course, it was then that one of the idiotic villains released him from his capture, so it was that moment that he lauched up to a fighting stance. “You see? Aizawa is right. Nothing will ever make me stop fighting to be the best hero ever! Especially not some shitty villains.”

Why are there so many Nomu?

Okay, so Katsuki was more than a little nervous about his soulmate now.

“Insolent brat. Didn’t anyone ever teach you manners?” asked Handjob as he started to move towards the blond.

Look! It’s the Pros!

Katsuki let his hands start crackling and popping in warning, waiting for Handjob to step closer.

“You idiots forgot something. I haven’t gotten the order to not attack after Aizawa deemed it an emergency situation where I could use my quirk. You all are screwed.”

Oh god! What happened to Best Jeanist?

No sooner had Eijirou said that then All Might was bursting through the door and Katsuki was being transported away again.

From that point everything started t=moving too fast.

One second, Katsuki was in a good old fashioned showdown with the lesser villains; the next, Deku and Ei were flying through the air at top speeds.

Jump Katsuki!

And Katsuki jumped.

He used his quirk to propel himself off the ground and up towards Eijirou. He reached out with his hand and caught Eijirou’s own in his hand.

“You stupid or something?”

All Katsuki got was a happy smile.

When they landed, Eijirou pounced on Katsuki and enveloped him in a tight hug. Katsuki felt like his lungs were being squished, but he could care less at that as he returned the hug.

“I was so scared, Kacchan. I thought we wouldn’t be able to get you and you weren’t there and-” Eijirou started hyperventilating as he cried into Katsuki’s shoulder.

The blond pulled back enough to look at Eijirou’s teary face. Katsuki took his soulmates hands and placed the palms flush onto his chest. “Eijirou, listen to my voice. Focus on my words and do as I say. Match my breaths, okay?”

Katsuki took exaggerated breaths in and out, Eijirou struggling to follow suit, until the redhead had a normal breathing rate.

“Listen, Ei. I-” Katsuki’s words were cut off by a scream and a cacophony of sound following. Immediately the rescue party and Katsuki all turned their heads to the screen. There was a half-deflated All Might fighting the main baddy.

Everyone in the square watched in horror as the symbol of peace fought with everything his broken body had in it. As Katsuki watched, he felt worse and worse.

I caused this. All Might is being destroyed because I couldn’t defend myself.

As if sensing his soulmates thoughts, Eijirou grabbed Katsuki’s hand and squeezed it tightly.

It’s not your fault.

Then All Might pointed to the camera, through the screen. “You’re Next.”

Beside him, Katsuki saw Deku sobbing.

So that nerd really was given his power by All Might.

There was definitely going to be a talk about that later.

Then Katsuki was in house arrest. It was actually nice. Eijirou visited often so they could talk and cuddle and watch movies.

Like today, it was a few hours after learning that they would be moving into the dorms and Eijirou was giddily telling Katsuki about his plans for when they get there.

“I’m thinking of making my room a shrine to manliness with a lot of my old Crimson Riot stuff.”

Katsuki was content with listening to Eijirou just talk. It was calming to feel the vibrations coming from Ei.

“Promise me that you will never leave me like that again .” Eijirou had said.

I love you, echoed through Katsuki’s head.

Katsuki smiled and kissed the top of Eijirou’s head, “I love you too.”
