Sunday Morning, Rain Is Falling

Summary:

Lazy Sunday mornings are Jeongguk's favourite.

Notes:

Hi, my lovelies!

This is just a little one-shot that I posted on my Twitter a short while ago, but I was quite proud of it and wanted to post it here too! I'm still a newbie writer, so please cut me some slack!! I don't have much time to practice writing.

If you would like to see my other one-shots, my Twitter is @galactaecal ^-^

Okay, now that's all over, I hope you enjoy one of my favourite tropes - domestic, fluffy Taekook!!!

Work Text:

Lazy Sunday mornings are Jeongguk’s favourite.

A gentle ‘pitter-patter’ sound hums a delicate tune; the raindrops playing the piano in the spotlight of the sun. Taehyung sits in the bed beside him, long fingers flicking through the pages of his book, as Jeongguk lies down, resting his eyes. A small smile painted on his lips that could put the Mona Lisa to shame. Every now and then the sheets will shuffle and Yeontan will poke his fluffy little head out from under the covers to see what Taehyung is up to, before curling back into Jeongguk’s arms, huffing quietly and settling down once again.

It’s moments like this that make his heart feel happy. A wholeness in his chest that can’t be described, just felt. Waking up next to /him/ every day was a miracle itself but on mornings like these, when the rain is falling and the sun filters through the curtains, a small breeze dancing across the floor, it is ineffable.

Taehyung leans down, pressing a soft kiss to Jeongguk’s forehead as he mutters a ‘Good morning, Gukkie’ that makes his heart swell.

“Morning, baby,” he’d reply, whispering it like a secret only they need to know.

Yeontan takes this as a sign to start jumping about, licking their faces and urging them to get out of bed and start the day. Every time Taehyung follows him, weak to his baby’s wishes, as Jeongguk properly wakes up. Eyes adjusting to the light as he smiles wide.

Lazy Sunday mornings are Jeongguk’s favourite, he decides when Taehyung walks back into their bedroom, one of Jeongguk’s shirts draped over his shoulders and two steaming cups in hand - one hot chocolate, one cup of coffee.

Jeongguk sits up, taking his coffee graciously and pecks Taehyung on the lips - a thank you - and then Yeontan jumps back onto the bed once both of them are tucked under the covers once more, wanting to be as close to the two as possible.

Taehyung leans into him, so Jeongguk can fiddle with his hair and stroke galaxies into his skin, and blabbers about his dream last night and asks Jeongguk what he thinks it means. He almost spilt his hot chocolate onto their sheets, narrowly missing and, instead, dropping a small splatter of the scorching liquid onto Jeongguk’s bare chest. Although he doesn’t mind. A smile graces his lips once more as Taehyung wipes the substance away, apologies spilling from his mouth almost as quickly as his drink had spilt onto his chest: he could never be mad at Taehyung.

His heart was so full of love for that man that he accepted his clumsiness along with everything else. The way his eyes lit up when watching romance movies; the way a pout would take over his face when someone didn’t listen to him and the way he woke up, hair sticking up in every direction, yet a grin still spreads across his face because Taehyung woke up next to the love of his life every morning as well.

Jeongguk took Taehyung’s hand in his, so he could look at their promise to love each other forever. Two wedding bands curled around their ring fingers, a promise that they swore to never break. A symbol of the unadulterated love they had for each other. A symbol of the ups and downs, of the one time they broke up because of a big misunderstanding but only lasted a day because they missed each other too much, of the time that they said ‘I do’ in front of their friends at a small wedding ceremony because their parents didn’t approve - though they didn’t mind.

Their love for each other was stronger than anything that could come in their way.

As Taehyung continued to blabber, this time to Yeontan because he had peed in the kitchen during the night and had made him clean it up, Jeongguk closed his eyes and thanked whatever God there was that he gets to spend lazy Sunday mornings with his person.

With his Taehyung.
