Work Text:
Sarawat yawns, his eyes burn as he tries to not slump down over his laptop and decide to take a nap. He has to finish his assignment by tomorrow morning even though all he wants is to not do it. His topic is Chuan Leekpai’s rise as Prime Minister in the 70s and Sarawat is bored, achingly so while researching on it. He has to trace the political history before that, so he is also delving deep into civilian rule and his eyes are now positively hurting from staring at the screen for so long.
He hears rustling behind him and he doesn’t have to turn his head around to know that it’s Tine moving around on his bed. Sarawat curses himself inside his head when he realises how late it is and how he should have turned the lights off to not disturb Tine’s sleep. He hopes Tine doesn’t wake up, he has four classes tomorrow and he has been running on fumes as well as the exam season approaches.
Sarawat hears more rustling and he thinks Tine perhaps made himself comfortable again. Instead, he suddenly feels his chair being pushed back. Sarawat holds back his yelp and looks up to see a sleepy Tine looking down at him. His eyes are nearly shut from sleep, his hair sticking up on one side and Sarawat can’t help but fall in love some more with his boyfriend’s cute self. Sarawat whispers, “Sorry, for waking you up.”
Tine mumbles, rubbing his eyes, “No, it’s okay.” Without much preamble, Tine walks around the chair and sits down on Sarawat’s lap, chest to chest. Sarawat doesn’t understand entirely what is going on but he doesn’t mind when Tine kisses him. It is a soft, languid kiss and it makes Sarawat’s heart hurt with the fondness he feels for Tine all the time. He asks, his voice low and soft, “Everything okay?”
Tine hums, eyes closed, as Sarawat cups his neck and rubs circles into his nape, “No, just miss you.” Tine throws his arms around Sarawat’s shoulders and tucks his face into the latter’s neck. He plants a kiss there and mumbles, “Bed empty.”
Sarawat tries to not melt into a puddle right now. Dating Tine has exposed his many sides to Sarawat and this sleepy, affectionate, cuddly version of Tine is among his top five favourite sides. He quite enjoys this, so he presses a kiss on Tine’s neck and says, “Just a few more minutes.” Sarawat pushes the chair forward and resumes typing. Tine mumbles something incoherently and by his even breathing soon after, Sarawat assumes he fell back right asleep. Sarawat nuzzles into his hair and smiles.
It takes Sarawat another hour and Tine is still blissfully asleep on his lap. Sarawat saves his document, attaches it to a mail to his professor and schedule sends it to before eight. He can’t believe it’s over. He rubs Tine’s back, whispering, “Hey, Tine, wake up.”
Tine groans a little and Sarawat chuckles, “I’m done, let’s go to bed, yeah?”
Tine pulls back and his eyes are mere slits as he nods. He wobbles a bit as he gets off Sarawat, who puts an arm around Tine just in case the other topples over. They both shuffle towards the bed and Tine flops down first. He makes his way to his side of the bed (though Sarawat supposes that doesn’t matter since Tine’s bed is already pretty small) as Sarawat turns the lights off. He joins Tine, who doesn’t wait to throw his arm around Sarawat’s waist and snuggles into his side. Sarawat smiles and turns to his side, pulling Tine into his arms. Tine makes himself comfortable under Sarawat’s chin and he does all this without even opening his eyes once.
Sarawat is warm, happy like this. The night outside has deepened and dawn is perhaps a whisper away but inside Tine’s room is a world where the outside doesn’t matter. It could be any time of the day and Sarawat would still want to hold Tine like this and Tine would still try to steal all his attention even if all of Sarawat belongs to him already. Sarawat smiles as he kisses the top of Tine’s head. He murmurs, “My tua woon wai, I love you.”
