Work Text:

It started with Koh and Nada.

They'd finished training, and headed back to the Tatsui house. Koh was happily exhausted and happily mooching around. He liked working hard - not just because it was important to be in good shape to save people (saving people was important!) but also because it just felt good. He liked getting his muscles working, and he liked mastering new tricks. Koh had his grey moments. He had his times of restlessness, of unhappiness, of not being able to settle. So when he could, he liked to do things thoroughly, because it felt better.

This also meant he liked being lazy as hard as he possibly could.

So he was on his stomach on the couch, kicking his heels in the air, reading manga happily when a ping pong ball bounced off his ass and clattered into a corner.

"Eh?"

He looked up, enquiringly, and saw Nada standing there with a ping pong paddle and a wicked expression on his face. One hip cocked. "Koh?"

"Yay," Koh said, leaping up gladly.

It was the two of them to begin with. A friendly, fun game turned into a fierce, grim match that ended in a tickle fight.

Then Ui and Asuna got back from their walk in the park, and they went on one end of the table with Koh and Nada on the other. Koh took a moment at one point to cherish a mental snapshot - Nada laughing, Ui high-fiving Asuna. They were just so beautiful.

After that, Towa and Melto and Oto-chan appeared. Then Canalo. Asuna went out for snacks, and came back with Bamba as well.

Before long, Asuna and Towa were cheering through mouthsful of chips, and then Nada took a break to find them all water. Ui's dad appeared and proved himself utterly lethal, up until he fell asleep on the table in the middle of his game. Melto had chips in his hair, somehow, but so did Asuna. Then Koh found himself facing down Bamba and grinning so hard it hurt his cheeks. Bamba was doing that not-smiling smile thing he did, where it was really obvious that he was happy.

Then they all trickled away again, one by one, but it was okay. They'd have other days. And Nada was left with him.

So it began with Koh and Nada, and it ended with Nada and Koh, and that was pretty good.

"One more game?" Nada suggested.

Koh clapped him on the back. "Sure!"
