Work Text:

Bakugou always had a soft spot for rain, but Todoroki never seemed to particularly fond of this seemingly relaxing weather. He would always stare at the window in the dorms living room, watching drops of water slide down the glass window with a melancholic look on his face.

and that just so happened to piss Bakugou off, not because of him being sad, but by the aspect of him showing negative emotions. While he comes off as an asshole to the naked eye and strangers, people close to him would say that despite his rough exterior he was caring, and he would (begrudgingly) agree. And like the good boyfriend he is, he'll get to the bottom of this whether Todoroki wants it or not. Because there is nothing he hates more than seeing Todoroki with a frown on his face (Not like he'll admit that anytime soon.)

"Hey, Icy-hot!" He walks up to Todoroki's sad, miserable state (as Bakugou would like to call it) with a sneer on his face as if to say 'not like I care about you or anything but you can tell me anyway.' Todoroki stares at the window for a few more seconds before looking at the blond with that usual blank stare, and as if to make matters worse in Bakugou's resolve of being an ace detective, he gives a soft smile. "Good evening Katsuki."

Good god, Bakugou would have dropped his whole tough guy act and kissed him right then and there. However, as a pro-hero he cannot falter! not even if his suspect is his cute, socially-inept, and monotonous boyfriend, but the questioning must continue. "So, care to tell me why you have the face of a dog that's in those ASPCA commercials." He starts gruffly, initiating what may be the toughest battle in his life. He could've at least greeted him back, but no, he must stand firm. Todoroki promptly stares at the other before looking back at the window. "It's nothing," he states, and to which Bakugou already counters with a response. "Well, it sure fucking doesn't look that way." (What can he say, He's a man of words.) However, the battle has just begun. Todoroki takes a small moment to sigh.

"It's silly."

"I know for a damn fact that it isn't one of your conspiracy theories, because you'd say it the first chance you get."

"I don't want to be a bur-"

"Finish that damn sentence, and I will not cook your fucking soba for a whole year!"

If there was one thing that gets Todoroki talking, it's taking Bakugou's cooking out of his life. Ever since they started dating, Todoroki was addicted to how Bakugou would make his prized dish, saying how Bakugou was 'heaven-sent' for appearing in his life. Needless to say, that was a giant ego stroke, but this isn't about him. Todoroki, now frantic about losing his sustenance, looks at Bakugou with pleading eyes. Bakugou only calmly looks at the other with an eyebrow raised, waiting for his next response. However, Todoroki finally concedes with a sigh.

"I don't know why...But, the rain just gets me lost in my thoughts." He states, watching drops of water land on the window. Bakugou patiently waits for Todoroki to finish because, as he knows and loves him, he's come to understand that that the other needs to take time to properly word his thoughts. Finally, after a couple of seconds, The dual-haired boy speaks."I just think of the what-ifs, like if I didn't attend U.A, or if I followed in my father's footsteps. The thought...terrifies me to no end." The boy says, finally tearing his gaze away from the window, his eyes glued to Bakugou's own. To anyone but a select few, Todoroki's face would hold no signs of anxiousness or fear, but to those who know him, they'd say he feels the most. And for Bakugou, He knows that his boyfriend was terrified of the unknown possibilities, he could relate to that. There were times that he would think of a different outcome, such as the Kamino incident, what would of happened to him if no one came for him. It was something that he understands well enough and sympathizes with. Life is mysterious and unknown to humans, and the mere thought of difference can set people off.

Bakugou scoffs, looking at Todoroki. "You're too handsome to be having an existential crisis." (God, couldn't he thought of a less corny fucking line.) he shakes off his embarrassment by coughing. "What I meant to say is don't worry about shit that won't happen anytime soon, Half-n-Half." He grunts as he scuffs his foot along the carpet, god he's never been good at talking about his thoughts, but being with Todoroki has taught him that they don't need to show their true emotions to understand each other. Todoroki then begins to access the blond's words with a finger on his chin and an inquisitive look on his feature. 'God, he looks so fucking beautiful.' Bakugou's eyes soften as he takes in Todoroki's looks (What did he do to deserve him? But even if there is a god, he'll thank them.)

"I mean...I'm not particularly scared about those, I guess, it's what comes as the outcome." Todoroki nods to himself, as if congratulating himself for wording his thoughts out correctly. Now that...confuses Bakugou to an extent, because it seems to be counter-intuitive to having any fears. "Hah!? Then are you terrified of then!?" Bakugou, being the gentleman he is, barks out. Todoroki just has a sullen face as he looks down, and what he says makes Bakugou's very own heart drop.

"It's the possibility of never having you in my life." He says quietly. Now that makes sense, Bakugou concedes in his thoughts. He's had his fair share of questions about him and boyfriend. It does scare him of imagining that they'd never work out, or the slight possibility of never even meeting. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. If there is one thing for certain, its that no matter what, He'll fight to the death to keep Todoroki in his life.

"Shouto, I love you so fucking much, you know that right," he begins and kneels down to meet Todoroki's eyes, he gently takes his lover's hand and continues."And I'll be damned if I don't have you in my life, I'll kick fate's ass till I can get to you." he says, keeping a firm grip on Shouto's hands. He's not one to voice out his feelings, but when it must be said, he'll scream it out to the world. Todoroki's eyes slowly start to water, his hands clench in his boyfriend's own hands, but there is a smile on his face and that is all Bakugou needed to see.

Though their love for each other was present in their everyday life, It's something about saying it aloud that always makes the dual-haired teen tear up. Not just the words, but the way Bakugou says it, full of love and adoration. It makes him fall in love with the blonde all over again. With certainty in his mind, Todoroki gently takes his hands away from the grasp of the other, but only to snake his hands around the other to pull him in for a hug.

"Bakugou, I love you dearly." Todoroki gently whispers in the others ear, with that same smile Bakugo loves so much.

"I know," The blonde replies, wrapping his arms around the other, enjoying the other's warmth and coldness of his body. "And Shouto? Do you know why I love the rain?"

"No? Why is that?"

"Because of moments like this, where I get to hold you." He states, kissing the other's cheek.

Notes:

Fun Fact: While writing this, I was listening to rain noises to get into the mindset of todoroki. Clever, I know,
