Chapter Text
Todoroki, proud member of class 2-A, is early for class. It’s not really his fault, because somehow, everything worked out today and he has thirty minutes before class even begins. UA towers above everything, just a few blocks away. He’s walking leisurely when he’s approached by a boy, around his age and in an unfamiliar uniform.
“Excuse me,” he says, “You go to UA, right?”
Todoroki looks at down at his uniform, then back at the boy. “Yes.”
“Great!” The boy looks relieved, “My name is Takuya Shiota, would you mind if I asked you a few questions for my blog?” Todoroki nods, not fully processing everything he just heard. “Okay, so, what is going to UA like?” He pulls a pen from his hair and brandishes it like a weapon, then proceeds to begin writing in a notepad before Todoroki even starts talking.
“I’ve never been to another high school,” Todoroki begins, “So I can’t really- Did you say you were writing for a blog?”
Shiota looks up from his writing. “Uhh, yeah. It’s a personal thing, but my teacher gives me extra credit for good journalism.”
“Don’t you need credentials or training for that?”
Shiota looks at Todoroki, brows drawn together. “No? I mean, I had to sign up for an account, if that’s what you mean.“
“What do you write?” Todoroki asks, “And I thought blogs were like newspapers?”
“I write stuff that helps me prepare for actual journalism. And, nah,” Shiota says, “I mean, some blogs are run for a particular purpose, like food or video games, but you don’t really need training for it. If you get enough views, you might even get paid for ads and stuff, but mine doesn’t have that. Um- Can I ask you questions now?”
Todoroki nods. The boy goes through the standard questions, who he is, what UA is like, what it’s like being taught by heroes, and so on. At the end, though, Todoroki exchanges e-mails with him. Purely for blog purposes of course. As it turns out, the boy is on Stumblr. A blogging site that has many facets. One of which is for aspiring journalists. Shiota does warn him, though, that some parts of the site can get very strange.
When he looks at his watch, Todoroki curses. He’s late for class. He completely forgets to say anything to Shiota, merely turning and running towards UA. Shiota is left standing on his own. “Ummm,” he says unsurely, “Bye then.” He waves awkwardly.
That night, Todoroki starts on the website with a simple username. Peppermint16516. Shiota was right. Stumblr is very strange, but he does begin following Shiota’s blog. Then he finds a history blog. And an architecture blog. Then a kittens blog? It’s nearly 3am when he finds something wonderful. A conspiracy blog.
