Chapter Text
Miyuki Kazuya
A lot happened since the day Sawamura Eijun transferred to Seido High School. Truth be told, he really likes to rile up Sawamura's mood every time he gets the chance to, and of course, he always gets the expression he expected! Sawamura is always fun to tease with, especially with how easy it is to read her emotions every single time, which drives him all the more reason to tease her. Dare say that Sawamura always wears her heart in her sleeves. He remembered how he told Sawamura the other day about a guy not liking her for her loud mouth and tomboyish acts. As a result, he received the famous Sawamura slap from her, a gracious reward from her self proclaimed mighty and King (yes King, you heard it right, she doesn't like the sound of queen of ace. Weirdo.) of ace self. Expectingly, she went out, fuming and muttering incoherent words from her pretty mouth.
On that day forward, he was showered by love and snickers from his upperclassman, accidentally telling him that he deserves it. Note the sarcasm in there.
He just scoffs and grins back, knowing full well how they hated it whenever he does that. He never gives them the reaction they wanted, and of course, he wouldn't let this chance slip by his finger without ruining their mood by annoying them off. Which he is good at naturally.
The upperclassmen are displeased whenever he gives them one of his snide remarks.
But!
There's a but.
He knows his limitations and he wouldn't dare say he has his boundaries also. It would surely make passerby's in Seido's dorm jaw gape and told him if cooking is his hobby. (which is true by the way) Because that is unlikely for someone with a character like him. He knew how he can easily rile up everyone's emotion just by saying a few remarks here and there
But today? That's not the problem.
Sawamura cried.
Yes, you read that right.
Sawamura cried because he mocked her that the Ace's number wouldn't be hers first and foremost with her pitching during her early inning.
She was subbed out and was replaced by Furuya.
And you wouldn't expect without a protest from the girl pitcher herself.
She bickers with the members and you can tell the determination in her eyes that she will finish the innings by herself. Seeing the fuss growing, they secretly and reluctantly agreed to carry her off like a sack with Maezone's large body towards the dugout.
Of course, she was caught off guard and started to whine instead, punching in thin air with disagreement. Putting her on the bench was another thing, for she plans to go back in the mound once she's put down. Good thing the Coach stops her by scolding the feisty girl.
"Miyuki Kazuya you tanuki bastard! I hate you jerk!"
With that angry cries she ran off, leaving him in the middle of the field.
Now let's go back to the problem.
He barely registered the fact that the tomboyish girl was no longer in his sight. The overwhelming shock stopping him from processing the whole thing. He never expected that something from a shoujo manga scene will happen in real life.
How did he knew about shoujo manga? Blame Sawamura and her constant fangirling.
Oh, and never knew that Sawamura could cry like a FREAKING girl. Because she's all baseball and baseball and.. baseball.
Yes like baseball is the only interesting subject she would chatter about.
"Miyuki! Why did Bakamura run off like that? First time seeing her so flabbergasted," Kuramochi pop in his side, curiosity filling him as he looked at Miyuki accusingly "what have you done jerk?"
Jerk.
Miyuki snaps out and numbly followed Sawamura's trail when she left away from him.
"Oi Miyuki! I'm talking to you, come back here!"
"Bastard! Oi!"
Kuramochi yelling fell deaf in his ears. He didn't dare answer back, even if he was accused of the crying girl. He never expected someone emerging beside him, much less that the person would be Kuramochi, albeit he was thankful he didn't follow him tho.
With the profound consciousness bothering him, he found Sawamura in one of the batting cages, sloppily hitting the balls in her way.
One could see from afar how red her golden eyes are.
He never felt sick of making a girl cry.
He feels like a jerk.
Yes, he is aware of the fact that he's a bastard, Kuramochi and the others are not much of a help for reminding him how much of a bastard he is. They didn't felt a little bit of shame of sticking that word in his face every damn time.
He didn't know what to do, but he has to apologize. He never soothes a crying girl before.
He would never stoop low as to become more lowly-being than a bastard.
Never would he thought that a day would come like this.
Gathering up all the confidence left in the universe and a bit of nervousness, he approaches the tearing girl, a lump forming on his throat. He was almost behind her back, making sure as to not make a single noise and attract her attention immediately. He feels that his heart would stop if she abruptly turns and looks at him.
Good thing no one's around and he's thankful it's lunchtime when everything happened.
Clack!
Clack!
Okay, he can do this.
"Sawamura?"
The girl flinches and stops batting.
Huge mistake tho.
The next ball shot towards Eijun. He instinctively pulled her in harm's way, and the last thing he knew, he was staring at Eijun's eyes, both of them on the ground.
He was top and she was on the bottom.
Their lips dangerously near, her nose grazing his nose, their low breathes mixing in the gap between them. He swears he could feel how fast his heart is beating right now.
Upon closure, despite her face filled with so much sadness, he never knew how beautiful she was. Yes, she's already a looker at the beginning but with his boyish antics? It's easy to forget that she's a girl, inside and out.
Miyuki blushed.
"Tanuki! Get off me!" Sawamura squirmed under him and pushed his chest in protest, which was another mistake. The lower part of him should never be graze! Even if it was fully clothed. He is a teenage boy for Pete's sake dang it! Hormones are unstoppable, it's normal.
Miyuki frantically got off of Eijun and crawled out of the batting machines way to avoid the balls. He could felt the heat crawling in his face. Heck he can visualize himself blushing like a tomato!
"Pervert!" Sawamura also crawled away from him, on the other side, sitting on the ground. His heart still erratic but he managed to calm his heart down. Thankfully, Sawamura didn't see his face. She was busy minding herself.
"Don't even think that I forgot what happened earlier! I'm not taking it back! You're still a jerk inside and out!"
Ouch, that kinda hurt, but what's more painful was seeing Eijun crying once again. He never expected such feelings would exist in his vocabulary, the source from the sobbing girl in front of him.
She tears up and glared at Miyuki.
"B-Bastard! You thought I'm a masochist?! Receiving your mockery about how much of a useless pitcher I am?! E-Everyday I received discrimination for being a girl. I practiced hard just to reach those high expectations and to crush those who bully me by-by showing them my h-hard work!" Sawamura was stuttering as she tries to wipe off the unnecessary droplets trickle down her face.
Miyuki just listened. He just listened to her ranting off. He was stunned at how wrecked she looks right now. It was a lot different from the sunny Sawamura they knew. It was his first time, looking at her weak, vulnerable state.
"I-I know I'm a girl, I know I'm incapable of doing what guys do. But-But-"
"Eijun."
Miyuki don't know what came to him.
The batting machine out of loads finally stops, silence and her sobbing fills the air.
But what's surprising was finding Sawamura in his arms, hugging her gently, as if telling her to calm down.
Wait, is this Miyuki?
"I'm sorry."
Eijun was utterly shocked but the same thing could be said about Miyuki.
He was shocked by himself as well. His mind was telling him to let go of the girl but he was hugging her tighter instead.
The day has come where the great Miyuki Kazuya was hugging a crying girl awkwardly.
"I'm sorry, I know I was a jerk and bastard, but believe me when I tell you that you're far from a useless pitcher. You've contributed a lot to our team and I know that most of them would agree. They've seen your hard work Sawamura, they've seen it all and they acknowledge it."
Miyuki let her go and stands up, guiding her as well.
This girl, what kind of curse did she plant him with? What the heck is he saying? Wait dang it! Don't forget how cliche the cursed words were coming out of from his damn mouth!
"M-Miyuki.."
"And stop crying, you look ugly."
Sawamura twitched.
Of course, he is Miyuki Kazuya, what could you expect than an insult coming from him. It's his character.
"I was about to forgive you, you know. And you have to ruin the mood."
Miyuki sheepishly chuckled, embarrassed.
"Sorry, can't help it. And," Eyeing her face, he continues "never expect you could cry Sawamura."
Sawamura backed away, mortified.
"Miyuki Kazuya! Of course, I cry! What the heck are you even saying?!"
Miyuki of course, the annoying one, the one who's not the type to do this shoujo manga chick flick despite the earlier scene will humbly rile her up. Of course not hurting the girl's feelings.
"You're a tomboy, remember?"
Expectingly, he dodged the slap from physically hurting his cheeks and hold her hands before letting it go. Which, on his note, made Sawamura irritated.
"Miyuki! You spawned of a devil tanuki four eyes catcher! Just for once let me hit you!"
Miyuki dodged again.
"What do you think me of? A masochist? Hah!"
Miyuki laughed, like the crying Sawamura incident didn't happen. Miyuki prefers the lively Sawamura than the wrecked one. He does hope that Sawamura wouldn't tell the world of his out of character behavior earlier, and preferably, she doesn't recall and get suspicious about it. But given how stupid she was, she would probably forget about it. For now, he should focus on annoying her.
"Yes. You're a rude masochist!"
"Ouch, " Miyuki says, feigning hurt "that was quite painful for my heart, wow."
"Don't even give me that sarcasm!"
Eijin puffed and walked away. Miyuki just stood there, letting Sawamura do what she wants. Miyuki knew that Sawamura already forgave him but...
"Miyuki-senpai,"
Surprisingly, Sawamura called him respectfully. He turned to look at Sawamura, almost outside, a blush spreading on her cheeks as a girl would.
Wait, Sawamura blush.
She BLUSH.
And don't get him started with how… adorable she looks with her flushed face and eyes avoiding his stare.
"Thanks for reassuring me that my hardwork aren't wasted. Soo- I-I'll be on the restroom, tidying myself up before going to the cafeteria and have lunch, so uhh, bye!" Sawamura awkwardly says, dashing towards the restroom without giving him a single glance.
Miyuki stood dumbfounded.
How many times was he stunned this day? He can't count them on his fingers. And what the heck is wrong with his chest!? A scene where he was on top of Sawamura suddenly pops on his head.
His face flushed and his ears go red.
Is he sick? How can a catcher like him be sick? Was this something to do about Sawamura. But he's not an idiot so he will get sick.
'I should visit the clinic when I have the chance to.'
With that, Miyuki walked away from the batting cage, his mind whirled and face flush.
At least his apology was accepted

Omake:
"Miyuki? Oi!"
"Huh, what?"
Kuramochi sneers and kicks his butt.
"What's gotten you into the clouds? Are you sick? Training's about to start soon! Don't get weak on me Kazuya."
Kazuya blinked a couple of times before smirking, his tone sickening sweet.
"Mochi-senpai is worried about me? I'm not readyy! Please be gentle."
"Bastard!"
Then Sawamura has to barge in.
"Miyuki Kazuya! Hurry up! Catch my pitches already! The very depth of my consciousness is telling me to start pitching already!"
"O-Of course."
Miyuki let Sawamura drag him to the bullpen.
Kuramochi eyed them.
'Did Kazuya stuttered? Wait, he didn't even give her one of his snide comments.'
Kuramochi shakes his head as Haruichi calls for him. He was probably imagining it all. But he could swear the aura around Kazuya changed a little.
