Marrying Jiang Cheng

Summary:

This explores the possibilities of Jiang Cheng getting married because I doubt that he will ever find a woman that fits his type. Just like his parents, this drabble series dabbles on the idea of JC getting a wife through an arranged marriage. Yes, there is an OC involved. This drabble series delves on the idea of two people who are not in love with each other. I wanted to make the drabbles to be as realistic as possible. Again, Jiang Cheng is probably a difficult person to be married to...

Pairing: Jiang Cheng x OC!Wife (Romantic? Maybe? Maybe not?)

Notes:

Before I start this drabble series, here are some things that I want people to take note of:

The OC's Home Background and Why Her and Jiang Cheng (because I don't want to explain this for every single chapter haha):

- Is the eldest daughter of a very small sect with few cultivators
- Is a pretty decent cultivator herself
- Yunmeng Jiang was just recently rebuilt, and as the new leader of the sect, Jiang Cheng has to continue the family line. Since the sect would probably not be very stable at this time, he could only get a bride from a not-so-up-there sect who wouldn't mind getting married into the Jiang sect for support and stability during the aftermath of the war.
- As the eldest daughter of the sect, the OC bears the duty to, well, get married to protect her own sect.
- This is a marriage bound by duty.
- I decided to give her the name Shin Feimi... because it was the first name that came to mind.

About this drabble series:

- This explores the possibilities of Jiang Cheng getting married because I doubt that he will ever find a woman that fits his type.
- Just like his parents, this drabble series dabbles on the idea of JC getting a wife through an arranged marriage.
- Yes, there is an OC involved.
- This drabble series delves on the idea of two people who are not in love with each other.
- I wanted to make the drabbles to be as realistic as possible.
- Again, I am diving into the idea that Jiang Cheng is a difficult person to be married to.
- My Headcanon!JC would probably not want his married life to be like his parents’ so he’s gonna be doing his best here while trying to stay in character.
- I don't like JC much, but I still want this single man to be happy.
- I wanna see JC as a husband and a dad so this drabble series is an attempt to explore that.
- Please don’t hate the OC. She’s doing her best too.

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Drabble 01

Shin Feimi could only sigh as she sat down beside the many lotus ponds that belonged to the Jiang sect. An arranged married? She remembered Jiang Yanli's previous engagement to Jin Zuxuan, which was understandable given the closeness of their mothers. However, the Shin sect was a very small sect, pretty unknown in the cultivation world, though they do have their own strong cultivators... like the current three ladies of the main house. Herself included.

However, she knew her siblings were still a bit too young to get married as the family didn't agree to send off their female children before the age of twenty, and she was the only one who was already of age to bear children.

But of all the people to be engaged with, it had to be the current leader of the Jiang sect. It wasn't that they were on very bad terms, but they weren't exactly on good terms either. Their opinions differed on many aspects especially how one should lead a sect.

She sighed. She wasn't exactly their sect's leader yet as her parents were both still alive so she didn't really have the right to refuse. As the future lady and leader of the Shin sect, she had to do this for the family.

"Hey... Jiang Cheng..." She murmured, sensing the presence of her just-proclaimed-fiancee approach behind her silently. "I know that we both weren't expecting this... okay, maybe you knew before I did, and I have no idea why you even agreed to this but..." She closed her eyes in thought briefly before opening them in resignation.

Yunmeng Jiang was just recently rebuilt, and as the new Sect Leader, Jiang Cheng has to continue the family line. She could only guess that since his sect would probably not be very stable at this time, he could only get a bride from a not-so-up-there sect who wouldn't mind getting married into the Jiang sect for support and stability during the aftermath of the war. She could almost frown at how bitter it was to accept it, but she was also bound by her duty to her own sect and family.

"I don't hate you despite all our previous disagreements, and if we have no choice but to push through this, let's at least not be in each other's throats... I hope we could reach an agreement."

She received no answer.

-----------
Months after the entire Jin Guangyao fiasco, it was relatively safe to say that the sects were finally back to some degree of stability, and what better time to honor a promise than now for the "betterment" and increased stability of two affected sects?

"Jiejie, you're beautiful..."

A giggle.

"It's okay... You don't have to console me."

"But it's true!" Shin Niyan, the middle child of the head family stated, smoothing her sister's crimson robes free from wrinkles and adorning her hair with accessories. "He should consider himself lucky that you're the one marrying him. You don't want to, but you're willing to make it work!"

"Nii-jiejie is correct!" The youngest child - precious Shin Shian - further commented. "If any other lady were to marry that man with a stick up his butt their marriage wouldn't probably last a day!"

"Now we don't know that~" The bride chimed jokingly. "Who knows? He might actually be a decent man. If we find out that he's not while we're on the way, I might decide not to show up to the wedding~" But they all knew that it was a jest, that no one would dare shame their families for the sake of their personal pride and wishes. "Well then... Father and mother may no longer alive, but it is up to us to honor their late wishes. Up we go~"

And finally, upon facing her soon-to-be cultivation partner and husband in his own crimson ceremonial robes, she took one of the deepest breaths that she has ever taken... and finally took a step past the line that she knew she'll stay in for the rest of her life.

Needless to say, just a few moments prior, her husband-to-be had also taken the same exact breath as hers. Of course, he would never let her know that.
