Wei Wuxian leaned against the counter as Yanli was cooking. Wuxian was stealing lotus seeds out of a bowl. Yanli lightly smacked his hand,
"A-Xian you're going to spoil your dinner"
A knock at the door drew Wuxian away from the bowl. It was Xiao Xingchen, Wuxian's shibo. Xiao Xingchen entered, a teenager followed behind him and a man was on his arm guiding him. Xingchen turned to Wuxian,
"Wuxian, thank you for inviting me. I hope you don't mind, I brought my husband, Song Zichen, and our daughter A-Qing"
"Of course not, shijie will be excited. My son, Lan Sizhui, and my nephew, Jin Ling, are in the backyard if you'd like to join them. Lan Zhan is fussing with the rabbits, he'll be down later. Jin Zixuan is in the living room if you'd like to sit down"
Xingchen and Zichen went to the living room, while A-Qing happily skipped over to the back door. Wuxian smiled. His house has never had this much life before and not everyone was here yet.
Next to arrive was Wen Qing and Wen Ning. Wuxian pulled Wen Ning into a hug, throwing him off guard. Wen Qing just stood back and watch,
"I'm so glad both of you could come. A-Yuan is in the backyard if you'd like to say hello. Everyone is congregating in the living room."
The two scurried off into the living room.
After them was Jiang Cheng, who had just gotten off work. He grunted at Wuxian,
"What are you a butler? Greeting guests now?"
"Well I was helping A-Li in the kitchen, but everyone started showing up. Speaking of which. A-Li is in the kitchen if you want to say hi, Jin Ling is in the backyard with A-Yuan. Everyone else is in the living room"
Jiang Cheng huffed before going to see Yanli in the kitchen.
Lan Qiren and Lan Xichen were next. Wuxian smiled, Lan Qiren scowled at him,
"I'm so glad you two could make it, Lan Zhan will be happy. He's still upstairs with the bunnies if you'd like to stop in. Dinner should be ready soon though if you just want to wait in the living room with everyone else."
Lan Qiren scowled more, but Lan Xichen smiled to him,
"Thank you for your hospitality, Wei Wuxian"
"Please, you guys are as much my family as Jiang Cheng, call me Wei Ying"
"Thank you for your hospitality, Wei Ying"
The two went to the living room.
Wuxian closed the door, everyone had arrived. He sighed before putting on a smile. Wuxian knocked on the door to the bunny room. He could hear the chatter coming from the living room, but it was faint. Wangji was sitting on the floor, covered in bunnies. The sight brought a smile to Wuxian's face,
"Hey Lan Zhan, everyone's here and we're about to eat. Even Lan Qiren showed up!"
"hmm"
"Are you coming down? Yanli might cry if you don't"
Lan Zhan stood up, dusting off the bunny fur.
The table was loud and rowdy. Jin Ling was yelling at A-Qing who was yelling back. Lan Qiren and Jiang Cheng must've been in a scowling match as they never once smiled. Xiao Xingchen and Song Zichen sat quietly eating their dinner politely. Lan Zhan was silent as he ate as always. But Wuxian couldn't have been happier. His family was there. Everyone he loved, sat around one table. He could almost cry at how happy it made him. He squeezed Wangji's hand. Wangji looked to him, concern swirling in his golden eyes,
"We should do this every weekend"
"hmm"
That night, after everyone left, Wuxian did cry. Everyone he loved had sat around one table. A big happy family.
