Chapter Text
Well, this is it.
They slowly pushed open the door to the school. UA Academy. A school most kids could only dream of getting into, and here they were, about to start their first day.
This couldn’t be possible.
How did they even get here? They clearly weren’t good enough to go here, they still had no idea how they passed their exams. There had to have been a mixup with grades somehow. They didn’t deserve this. They couldn’t deserve this.
They wiped their clammy hands on their uniform. Oh god, what if somebody saw that? Somebody probably saw that, now they think they’re gross. Shit.
Ok, calm down, try not to spiral. Next stop was the gym for orientation. They figured the crowd of students currently making it’s way down the hall was headed in the same direction. Were they looking at them? They were totally looking at them. They had to be, they could feel it. Oh god, what if they were talking about them? This couldn’t be happening; first impressions are everything and here they were messing it up.
A loud laugh cut through the chatter of the crowd. That had to have been directed at them, they thought. What did they do? Did they have something on their shirt? Were they making a face? What did they do wrong?
Everyone’s looking at me, they thought.
They could feel their breath start to quicken as crowd continued, the air swarmed with with the loud chatter and laughter.
I can’t breathe, they thought.
They gripped their bag, trying to force their hands not to shake. Why were these kids being so loud? Did they realize that they were practically deafening by now?
Oh god, everything’s so loud, they thought.
They couldn’t take it anymore; they quickly broke out of the crowd and into an adjacent bathroom, ducking into the nearest stall and thanking god that the bathroom was currently empty as they started to pant. They put a hand over their mouth, trying to quiet themself, trying to get themself to stop, just stop.
They gagged, before quickly leaning over the toilet. They hadn’t gotten this bad in a while, getting sick from being anxious didn’t happen often surprisingly. Figures that this would happen on their first day.
“Hello?”
Shit. How did they not notice someone come in? Unless they were already there and they just didn’t notice?
Shit.
They quickly tried to force themself to stop and stood up, legs shaking. Just take a deep breath, they thought, stuff it down, you’ll be fine.
Trying to steady their shaking hands, they opened the stall and stepped out, meeting eyed with a boy with wild, fluffy green hair.
“Are you ok? It sounded like you got sick. I might have a peppermint in here somewhere.” He quickly began rummaging around in his bag before pulling out a mint. They mumbled a quick “thanks” before reaching out to accept it.
“Are you feeling ok? You’re shaking kind of a lot too.” They looked down at their hands. Fuck, how did they not notice?
“It’s nothing, I’ll be fine.”
“You shouldn’t be here if you’re sick. I know you might feel bad not coming in your first day, but I’m sure they’ll understand, and I can cover for you and bring you your work at the end of the day.”
“I’m not sick, I promise.” They said, thanking god for the mint suppressing the sick feeling in the pit of their stomach somewhat. “Just a little...nervous, I guess.”
The boy smiled. “Don’t worry, I think we all are.”
They nodded, looking down.
“You’re gonna be fine. You’re gonna do great.”
They sighed. “I hope so.”
The boy grabbed their bag, handing it to them. “I’m Izuku by the way.”
They took the bag, bowing their head slightly. “Susumu.” They murmured.
“Well,” Izuku said, giving them a gentle smile. “Welcome to UA High.”
