Oh, sunshine

Summary:

“What are you thinking about bailing out of this lousy party and find a nice 24/7 café?” Hoseok asks, tucking a hair strand behind their ear. They’re wearing high-waisted shorts and a loose-fitting pink shirt with a Kaws pin on it, with assorted big stompy boots.
“Is this a date?” Namjoon asks.
“You tell me.” Hoseok replies on the spot and extends both hands.
Namjoon and Seokjin take them and pull them away from the party.

Work Text:

Namjoon and Seokjin share a single class this semester together, and maybe it’s for the best because they’d keep distracting each other otherwise. They’ve been dating for a year now, but they’re still in their honeymoon phase, holding hands under tables, scribbling small notes on each other’s notepads, calling each other pet names over the simplest things. Namjoon loves it. Seokjin is tender, funny and brilliant; somewhat of a perfect man, to him at least.

They’re not exclusive, have talked about it before getting together, agreeing that they could open their relationship to other people it they found someone who suited them both. They’re not actively looking, they just keep the idea in the back of their heads and joke about it together when they’re out, thinking that maybe this movie theater employee could be our new lover or have you thought of lan wangji? he’d be a perfect husband . Nothing more. No one has attracted their attention until this first semester day.

Someone enters the room, whishing through the stairs, dressed in bright yellow shorts and a bicolored blue and white loose shirt. Their bag is stuffed with Murakami flowers, smiley pins and HOPE embroidered into it. Namjoon and Seokjin look at each other, eyebrows raised, smiling.

Their hair is shoulder length, from behind, they can’t see if they’re a woman or a man, or neither. They turn around to greet someone, a friend, surely, and they’re indecipherable. They’re out of this world, handsome and dainty, long fingers waving at their friend.

Namjoon is swooned right away, and, by the way Seokjin squeezes his hand, he’s too.

“I think we found someone worthy.” Namjoon whispers.

“Incredible.” Seokjin whispers back. “Almost as pretty as me.”

Namjoon scoffs.

They see them every week for their common class and do nothing about it, pining in their corner, until they find themselves at the same party a couple months in. The person hosting it actually seems to have invited the whole class.

Hoseok sees them hovering by the door and walk up to them.

“Hi!” They greet them “I’m Hoseok, but you can just call me Hobi, no need for honorifics, especially not gendered ones.” They tell them and Namjoon and Seokjin nod.

“We leave gender at the door with our shoes?” Seokjin asks and Hoseok laughs, a bubbly sound that fits them well.

“I’m Namjoon, actually in gender studies, so I kind of said goodbye to all these norms a while ago.”

“Not to brag.” Seokjin mocks him, and Namjoon elbows him gently. “I’m Seokjin.”

“Nice to meet you, finally.” Hoseok’s smile is powered by a thousand suns, heart-shaped and kissable.

“Finally?” Namjoon asks, confused.

“Noticed you two staring in class. Was intrigued about what you were like from up close.” They say through their bangs, eyes creased with happiness.

“So?” Seokjin asks.

“I’d ask you both on dates if you weren’t obviously an item so I’d say you’re fine.”

“Direct.” Seokjin comments. “I like that.”

“Excuse me?” Hoseok asks, intrigued, but still smiling as they lead them through the room to get a drink.

“We may be an item but we’re always open for a nice invitation.”

Hoseok licks their lips, holding back a smile.

“Are you both this upfront?” They ask and Namjoon laughs.

“I’m not. He’s the brave one.”

“Gotta take one for the team.” He says, sliding his arm over Namjoon’s shoulders.

The café has bright white lighting and it doesn’t deter Hoseok’s beauty, it’s unfair. Namjoon tells them and Seokjin laughs.

“They’ve got perfect peach skin.”

“So do you.” Hoseok replies, and Seokjin blushes slightly, cheeks pink. Namjoon loves it.

They order filtered coffee and pastries, it’s almost past midnight, reaching a time where it seems to stop.

They start talking, and talking, stopping only to ask for refills.

Hoseok’s a dance major but has a minor in creative writing, their common class. They have a dog, shows pictures of him to them, gushing over him. They love the sun and their goal in life is to bring happiness to people through their dancing.

“If we weren’t in a coffee shop past midnight, I’d ask you to show us.” Namjoon comments and Hoseok looks around.

“There’s no one. So it means no one can stop me.”

They get out of the booth and start dancing, hips and joints popping, energetic and mesmerizing. Seokjin takes Namjoon’s hand in his and runs his thumb over his palm. They agree. Hoseok’s special. They’re gonna treasure them.

Hoseok swings back into their seat and sips a bit more of their coffee.

“So, what do you want from me?” They ask, forward, hand under their chin, smirking.

“Everything.” Seokjin replies and Namjoon hits his shoulder, laughing awkwardly.

“A date?”

“That’s already a date.” Hoseok replies, amused.

“Can we take you home?”

“Home? You have a home together?” They’re impressed.

“Managed to be roommates, you know, best friends and all.” Seokjin winks at them and Hoseok high fives him.

“God, I take back everything I said, you’re both going to be insufferable.” Namjoon groans into his coffee cup.

“Why don’t you really speak your mind, honey?” Seokjin asks him, smirking, playing with a loose hair strand on Namjoon’s forehead.

“Well. Why don’t you come back home with us and we could— you know.”

“Have sex?” Hoseok asks, casual, and Namjoon sputters.

“Maybe get to know each other before.”

“And?” Seokjin asks, still smirking, smug, reading him like an open book.

“And maybe kiss, yeah! That’s what you want to hear? Yes I’d like to feel what your pretty lips feel like and share you with my boyfriend. Yes, I’d like that very much. Are you happy?” He answers and the two others reply at the same time:

“Very.”

They leave the coffee place over-caffeinated and giddy, Hoseok in the middle, holding both of their waists like they’ve won a prize.

Once they reach their dorm room, Hoseok lies against the door, smug and smiling.

“How do you want to proceed?”

Seokjin clicks his tongue, amused.

“Come here, pretty.”

Hoseok hums and walks towards him, languid and seductive. Seokjin grabs their waist and brings them close to him.

“How would you like a kiss right now?”

Hoseok hums again, closing his eyes.

“Sounds heavenly. Bring Namjoon in as well.”

Namjoon gets close to them and Seokjin leans down to kiss Hoseok, a hand in their long hair, getting them out of the way for Namjoon to kiss their nape.

“Told my friend Jimin I’d get you in my bed the first day of class.” Hoseok tells them in between kisses and Namjoon shivers.

“Do you want this to be a one time thing?” He asks and Hoseok laughs.

“If that’s what you want? But I’m all in for other coffee dates and soft kissing times.”

Namjoon kisses their jaw, then their lips, Seokjin kissing Namjoon’s cheek, hand on his waist as well.

“What if we only cuddled tonight? Seems a bit rushed otherwise.” Namjoon tells them and Hoseok pouts, actually pouts, and it’s the cutest thing ever.

“Of course. Only if I can rest my head on both your torsos. They look too soft and firm for my own good.”

Seokjin laughs at that and tangles a strand of their hair between his fingers.

“Anything you want, handsome.”

They move to their room and Hoseok hops on the bed, a leg bent, like they’ve been waiting forever for them to crawl over their own bed.

“Kiss me silly.” They ask, and the two others can only comply, kissing their nape, their shoulders, their stomach, back to their lips until they’re gasping for air and Hoseok looks blissed out splayed on their bed.

“Can’t believe I have two handsome men just for myself.”

“Just for you.” Namjoon smiles at them and kisses them again.

“Enough talk. Let me lay down on you.” They say with a pout again and Seokjin laughs, ruffling their hair and tugging them softly until they lean on his chest.

Hoseok hums, looking happy, while caressing Namjoon’s chest.

“Perfect. Such a perfect night. So much better than a dumb party.”

They slowly stop talking and Namjoon and Seokjin look at each other, smiling, lacing their hands together over Hoseok’s form. Hoseok’s fallen asleep.

They softly wake them up with kisses on their temple.

“Wanna stay the night?” Namjoon asks.

“We can both spoon you.” Seokjin adds.

Hoseok yawns before blooming into a beautiful smile.

“That sounds lovely.”

They stay in their shirts and underwear and tug Hoseok under covers as they both embrace him, Namjoon’s hand resting on Seokjin’s stomach and Seokjin’s on Namjoon’s shoulder.

Hoseok happily hums.

They wake up in a mess of limbs, having moved overnight. Hoseok’s face is pressed against Namjoon’s chest, legs interlaced with Seokjin’s, hands grasping at Namjoon’s shirt. They stretche and smile at the sight.

“Hey there, lovelies.” They wake them by kissing their cheeks, fingers crawling under their shirts, caressing soft skin until they both slowly wake up, smiling back at them.

“What about I cook you breakfast?” They ask and Seokin huffs.

“Like you can do better than me.”

Hoseok huffs as well, indignant.

Namjoon decides to settle this.

“Why don’t you both cook together?”

It seems to stop them in their competition.

It makes them distracted though, Namjoon looking at them from the kitchen stool, sleepily sipping on some coffee, as Hoseok drops fluttering kisses on Seokjin’s shoulders and Seokjin caresses their waist as he retrieves flour for pancakes.

“What about me?” He pouts, and they both look at him, amused.

“Come here to have a kiss.” Seokjin tells him.

“And a piece of bacon.” Hoseok continues.

Everything feels so good.

They spend their morning cuddling on the couch, watching a drama before Hoseok has to leave to work on a project with their friend Jimin.

“So?” Seokjin asks, once the door is closed.

“They. I want them to be our partner.”

“Yeah. Same. It clicked well.”

“Indeed.”

“What about we evacuate some of our own residual sexual tension from last night though?” Seokjin raises an eyebrow at Namjoon who laughs.

“Don’t phrase it like that!”

“I take it as a yes.” Seokjin replies, taking Namjoon into his arms, kissing him sweetly and deep, slow and languid.

The next time they meet is in class, Hoseok drags their friend with them and introduces Jimin to Namjoon and Seokjin.

“Thought we could all sit together.” They say, smiling, putting their hair up in a ponytail.

They end up seeing each other two to three times a week, sometimes to play video games, sometimes with other friends, but it quickly becomes a routine where Hoseok is just there , at their place, and they kiss, make love, joke around and enjoy their lives.

It takes them two months before Namjoon sits Hoseok at their kitchen table and takes their hands in his.

“What about we made this official?” He asks, and Hoseok laughs.

“Wasn’t it kinda already official? All of our friends know about us.”

“He means that we want you to go out with us. Be our partner.”

“Oh.” Hoseok stops laughing.

“Not a fun extra.” Namjoon adds, and Hoseok looks shell-shocked for an instant before giving them the softest heart-shaped smile.

“I’d love that. Boyfriends. I like the sound of it.”

They reach over the counter and take Seokjin’s hand as they kiss Namjoon.

“Why don’t we go have a date at a restaurant to celebrate this?”

“Only if you get to be the dessert.” Seokjin replies, and Hoseok winks at him.

Namjoon sighs, he loves it, loves them.
