Chapter Text
Midoriya Izuku was born to Midoriya Inko and Midoriya Hisashi on July 15th, 3 months after Bakugo Katsuki (April 20th) and 6 months after Todoroki Shoto (January 11th). Despite being mothered by a successful pro hero and a deadbeat (but powerful) father, our dear protagonist is completely quirkless, though he won’t know that for another four years.
It’s backstory time, bitches.
Eight-ish months before Izuku is born (October-ish):
“Hisashi, I’m pregnant,” newlywed Midoriya Inko all but yells at her husband (Husband!! Because this woman is so in love with this man that she would do anything. Almost.)
“No,” Hisashi denies as if either of them had any say in the matter now.
“Yes, Hisashi, I’m pregnant,” Inko states, “And I want to keep him.”
“Him?” Hisashi asks, “You can’t possibly know the sex of that baby. It can’t be more than a few weeks old!”
“I can just feel it. It’s like he’s connected to my soul. His life and mine, they’re connected now. And so are you. We’re married, Hisashi, don’t you think we can handle a child?”
“No. I refuse. Absolutely not, Inko.” Hisashi looks at Inko’s hopeful face and sighs. “Don’t give me the puppy eyes, Inko. I’m not sure we’re ready for this. I’m not sure I’m emotionally ready for helping raise a child!”
“We can try, my love,” Inko begs, “We’re a great team, you know that. There’s nothing we haven’t gotten through together.”
“Okay. Fine. Those eyes of yours should be registered weapons, though, and I will always stand by that.”
About Seven Months Before Izuku is born (November-ish)
“We’re going to be late, love. Hurry up,” Inko calls lightly into the apartment from the doorway. “Why is the pregnant lady telling you to hurry? Shouldn’t it be the other way?”
“Don’t tease me, woman! I worked late last night and you know it,” Hisashi says in a faux-authoritative tone. “I’m just getting my shoes, now.”
-at the obstetrician’s office-
“Well, well, Mr and Mrs Midoriya; it looks like you two will be having twins!” Dr.Eguchi exclaims. “You should come back at the end of this trimester, about 7 weeks or so from now, and we’ll see how things are. Have you guys got any questions at all?”
“Yes, doctor. When will we know the sex of the baby- sorry, babies?” Inko asks as Hisashi looks about ready to pass out.
“That won’t be for another 12 weeks, around week 18 is when we typically see the first signs of distinctive genitalia,” Dr.Eguchi supplies. “Though I should warn you both, chances of miscarriage are elevated during the first trimester, especially with twins, so watch out for any spotting or excessive bleeding or pain. And you should expect some morning sickness if you haven’t already experienced it, though you may not experience it at all if you’re lucky!”
“Thank you, doctor,” (Inko says this.)
“Alright, if you don’t have any more questions, you guys can go ahead and schedule your next appointment!” Dr.Eguchi says, cheerfully. “Have a good day!”
About Four Months Before Izuku is Born
“Welcome back Mr and Mrs Midoriya! How are you doing? No bleeding?” Dr.Eguchi asks. Inko nods. “Alright, then. Any questions or concerns? If not, we can go ahead with the appointment! We should be able to tell the sex of your babies, now, but don’t be too worried if not.”
“Neither of us has any questions, Doctor,” Inko says.
“Let’s get started, then!” The doctor quickly readies Inko for the ultrasound. “It looks like you’ve got two healthy baby boys, Mrs.Midoriya! Have you thought about names?”
“Izuku and Mikumo Midoriya,” Inko answers, staring at the screen. “I’ve always wanted a son… not that I would reject a daughter or anything!” Inko panics slightly at the end.
“Those are wonderful names, Mrs.Midoriya,” Dr.Eguchi says. “Though, is your husband alright? He’s very quiet.”
“Oh, my,” Inko says, looking at Hisashi. “Dear…? Are you alright, love?” Inko asks gently.
“I’ve never been better, Inko. I’m looking at our sons for the first time,” Hisashi says. If you ask Inko, he’s crying, but, of course, he denies it (Izuku had to get his tears from somewhere, right? Turns out both parents had loose tear ducts).
It’s on the way home, after Inko falls asleep in the passenger seat, that Hisashi promises to himself, with whispered words and a light touch to Inko’s baby bump, “I will protect the three of you forever, with all that I can. Forever, my loves.”
24 hours before Izuku is born
“I’m going into labor, Hisashi,” Inko states calmly, grabbing their baby go-bag.
“Okay, my love,” Hisashi says. “Watch this!” as he blows a smoke ring. Or, tries to, anyway; “You’re WHAT! We need shoes, we need the bag, where are the phones, I need the keys, my wallet, why are you just standing there!! Let’s go!” Hisashi races around, gathering things and generally freaking out. Inko holds the car keys out to him.
“Let’s go, dear.”
Izuku is born
“One last big push, Mrs.Midoriya. 1, 2,3, Push!” the nurse addresses Inko. In true Midoriya fashion, Inko handles immense pain like a champ, out comes little Izuku, with a small lock of green hair.
He cries.
A few minutes later:
“Okay, Mrs.Midoriya, one more time. Push nice and hard.” Inko pushes once, twice, three times, and we meet Mikumo Midoriya, who has black hair.
He doesn’t cry.
