Chapter Text
“Panna,” Giorno rested his head on his palm, “Can we get a bird?”
Fugo’s eyes widened.
“A bird?” He said.
Birds… Well if GioGio wants one… Wait. A bird? Nonononononono-
“Yeah, a bird. Are you okay with that?”
“Sure!” Fugo forced the words out of his mouth.
Wait no-
“Oh, that’s good. I bought one earlier.”
NO—
Giorno grabbed his phone off of the dining table and turned it round to face Fugo. It had a picture of a giant red parrot. He tried to hide his fear behind a smile, it seemed to be working.
“...It looks cute!” He stuttered.
Giorno giggled, “I’m going to go and pick it up now. See you later sunflower!”
GIOGIO WAIT-
The door slammed shut and Giorno was gone. Off to pick up that horrid thing. Fugo could only do one thing, talk to someone who’s not Giorno. Trish.
“Hi Trish.”
“Hey Fugo! You alright? You don’t usually call me.”
“Yeah…” He wandered around the kitchen, “Giorno’s bought a bird.”
“Ooh! Can I see it?”
“No- Trish. I’m-“
“You’re afraid of birds?”
“Y-yeah.”
“Oh.” She paused. “Well that’s not good. Have you… told him this?”
“...”
“No? That’s bad Fugo. You need to be honest with your partner.”
“I-I know, I was panicking. I really don’t like birds.”
“I’m not really sure how to help you with this other than to just tell him.”
“Ok. I will. Bye.”
“See you later! Good luck.”
Fugo sighed. He can’t tell him now . He’s driving. He’ll just have to sit and wait.
—————————————————————————————————————
Even with the distraction of social media, it felt like hours. Though the wait was only 30 minutes.
“Hi Panna! Come and see her!” Giorno exclaimed as he carefully walked through the vine-covered door holding a large cage with what Fugo assumed was the parrot. His assumption was proven correct by the loud squawking that followed the placing of the cage. “Panna?” Fugo cowered behind the sofa. He did not want to see that thing .
“Hi GioGio.”
Giorno looked around the house before spotting Fugo who was still hiding behind the sofa.
“Panna? Are you okay?”
“ Yes . I am completely fine.”
“...Okay. Well, do you want to come see her?”
“O-okay.” He mumbled as he rose up from the fetus position. He trembled as he crept towards the hallway. There it is.
“This won’t be her cage forever, it’s a little small.”
“Small?”
“For a parrot it is.” Giorno turned over and looked at Fugo, “Panna, you look pale. Is everything okay?”
“...Look. I—I’m afraid of birds.”
“Oh.” Giorno stared. “Why didn’t you tell me?
“I panicked.”
“That’s fine. I understand. And this gives you the chance to get over your phobia!”
What-
“Don’t worry I’m not just gonna let her out. We’ll take it slow.”
“Okay.”
“Anyway. What should I name her?”
Fugo couldn’t think of anything that wasn’t some kind of other word for monster.
“I don’t know.”
“Maybe I’ll name her after you! Wait- that would be confusing. Hmmm.”
“She is red. Strawberry maybe.”
“That’s a perfect name, Panna! Thank you.”
Fugo looked over to Strawberry. She looked back at him and his gaze snapped back to Giorno. He sat down on the stairs and sighed.
“I can take her away if you want.”
“That would be most preferable, thank you.”
And the bird disappeared. It was gone. Fugo was safe. He messaged Trish about the news, she said that Giorno had already told her and sent a picture of Strawberry.
That fast?
—————————————————————————————————————
Giorno came running downstairs and hugged Pannacotta from behind “I hope you’ve calmed down now. I’m sorry I brought something in that scares you.”
“It’s alright. It was my fault.”
“No, I’m the one who bought it without telling you.”
“At least you told me!” Fugo could feel himself getting upset.
“That’s true.” Giorno held Fugo tighter, “But that doesn’t matter. I still bought it first which put pressure on you.”
Fugo sighed. “Sure…”
Giorno slowly let his hands fall.
“Wanna go for a picnic?”
“Why?”
“I baked some scones.”
“Oh, sure then!”
The checkered blanket laid against the soft grass which was covered in daisies. Giorno placed his large bag full of food and drink next to it and sat down. Fugo sat next to him.
The scones were delicious, the ratio of cream to jam was just right. After finishing all of the food they laid down and stared at the clouds. Giorno rambled on about the lizard he saw in a brick wall while he was getting the bird as Fugo nearly dozed off.
But then, a bird flew over their view. Multiple. A flock. Fugo buried his head in Giorno's hair as he was held tight.
“I don’t know how I never noticed this before,” Giorno laughed. “Oh sorry, I shouldn’t have laughed.”
“Let’s go home now.” He turned his head and kissed Pannacotta on the forehead.
“Mm.”
The whole walk home Fugo clung tightly to Giorno, not letting his face be out in the open.

“Damn. I really need that sorted out, don’t I?”
“Yeah. I need to make sure Strawberry is comfortable with being handled first of course.”
“How long will that take?”
“It depends. You’ll either have no time to prepare or 40 years.”
“Oh.”
