Chapter 1: Horus and Loki: A meeting of Gods

Chapter Text

There were rumors of the Gods roaming among men. Every dweller was careful not to tread on any rock or insult any cobra one might pass. Some were quite bold, stomping on idols and shouting slurs to the very temples mortals would bow and pray in. A few even burned sacrilegious artifacts, spewing the very names of creation. in all this confusion, the skies were silent; clear blue sunny skies, as if nothing was wrong. Little did these mortals know...
Everything was just hanging in the balance. Their very lives; strung in tiny mortal fabric called reality...growing thinner by the second.
A falcon appears beside a black and green raven. The raven peers over for a second, but proceeds to stare forward again.
"It took you long enough, Loki." The deep voice said from the falcon.
The Raven chuckled.
"You're one to talk, Horus," Loki replied, scanning the desert with his emerald eyes.
"They didn't see me... at least not this time." Horus sighed, taking a second to peck at an itch under his left wing.
"Yes, these mortals do seem to be getting smarter... a bit more reckless than I am comfortable to admit," Loki said, glancing at the sky to catch a sight of a dove-shaped cloud.
Loki turns to Horus and adds, "What exactly are we going to do about this? The other Gods have planned total destruction and the mortals are claiming the planet as their own. This is some form of chaotic revolution, and I'm not sure how to prevent this." Horus turns to Loki as he said this. Horus pauses for a moment, thinking. Horus speaks, "This is a tough situation. Poseidon has threatened to raise the tides. Osiris and Hades plan to raise the dead. Muspellheim and Midgard are going to collide in the upcoming solar eclipse. This is going to require some advanced sorcery and reasoning just to try and slow this progression, let alone end it. Have you spoken to Thor recently?"
Loki sighed. "That old oaf? No, not yet. He usually doesn't listen to me, to begin with. I reside in Asgard as a trusted ally, yet I am disregarded as a palace nuisance. It will take a lot to reason with him and Odin, my blood brother. They both are very much alike."
Horus chuckled. "Ah, yes. Best of luck convincing your nephew. I find Odin to be a very strong influence on Thor's actions. If your blood brother already has a disdain towards you, surely Thor will only follow."
Loki and Horus look towards a few mortals who had smuggled an exotic bottle of Greek Oozoo and were gleefully taking swigs from it. Clearly they were teenagers. There they were, hiding from their adult counterparts, hiding behind giant mounds of sand, but perfectly in view to the unsuspecting Gods. Loki considered this for a moment.
"I'm certain convincing Thor will be as easy as smuggling Oozoo. Like alcohol, I can always find a way; even with the strongest of influences." Loki chuckles as he manifests a small portal for Asgard. Loki turns to Horus.
"Care to join me? Or would you like to continue watching mortals waste their time and their breaths?"
Horus chuckled and said, "You leave quite the predicament. But yes, I shall join you. I've always wanted to see Allfather's eyepatch anyway."
