Once Upon A Pair Of Socks | JiHope

Summary:

Hobi always takes care of his members, looking after them, checking if they ate, washed up, looking after his roommate Jimin, who was a bit messy and needed Hobi's guidance when cleaning their room.
Hobi was always there for his members.
But the question remained, who was there for Hobi? Who looked after Hobi?

Chapter Text

It all began with the mysterious pair of socks on his bed.

Hobi had no idea who had put it there, because he hadn't entered the room at noon. He had been practicing the new choreography in the studio.

Only Jimin had the key to his room.

But why would Jimin give him socks? It wasn't as if he had run out of them.

Hobi always made sure to throw out the used ones, and socks that had holes in them.

It was Jimin who needed more care in that department, Hobi thought.

The younger was more prone to lose a pair of socks while in the car or places other than their dorms.

He was the one who usually needed a pair of gloves, and couldn't find them when needed, and Hobi always ended up giving Jimin his own, and settling for removing a new pair from his closet.

Hobi stared at the cute pair of socks, the color of pink and purple.

This definitely wasn't Jimin's choice of clothing.

Had someone else bought him socks? But why socks?

Hobi looked around the room, everything seemed to be in place. It was just the bed that had been touched.

He wasn't the kind of person to break out into a fit and slightly OCD obsessed over someone else touching his things.

He only needed everything to be clean and neatly placed in the right order.

"Hobi hyung?" Someone called him.

Hobi turned to a familiar face. "Jimin?"

"What are you doing here, hyung?" Jimin's eyes fell on the pair of socks.

"Uh...I was just leaving." Hobi said and let the socks fall back on his bed.

"Someone left these socks on my bed. I was trying to remember if anybody entered the room after we left."

"What?" Jimin frowned. "Are you sure those aren't yours?"

"Pink and purple are your colors, Hobi hyung," Jimin said with a smile. "I doubt the others would buy that pair of socks for themselves."

"Jungkookie's wardrobe is loaded with whites and black, Taetae is into ties and fancy pajamas right now."

"Jin hyung is trying to find his fashion style, and Namjoonie hyung is out visiting galleries wearing clothes from Yoongi hyung's closet."

"It's not them, hyung."

Hobi cracked a smile.

It was true, they had entered a phase of rediscovering themselves.

"Ugh! Forget it." Hobi said and shook his head.

Maybe he was thinking too much into this matter.

Maybe he really did buy those socks for himself and then forgot.

It was a logical enough explanation to convince himself.

-

Couple hours later, Hobi had already forgotten about the incident.

But when he entered his room, there on the table, sat a box of rings.

Those rings didn't belong to Hobi's collection, but were similar to the types he usually wore.

Hobi huffed in annoyance and walked up to the table, and picked up the box.

There nothing written on it, and no indication as to who might have left it there, in his room.

This was the second mysterious appearance in his room, and now, he was frustrated.

If they wanted to gift him a pair of socks, then why hide the fact.

It wasn't as if Hobi was gonna bite them, if they admitted to it.

Should he hide and watch, if the intruder would repeat the third time?

Hobi didn't really have many suspects in mind, except for Jimin and Taehyung, because those two were the only ones to pull such an act.

Jungkookie was bad at planning gifts, and Hobi only ever got a 'Happy Birthday, hyung!' from him.

Whereas, Jimin always had gifts for everyone, in his arms, and being the adorable cake fairy for whoever the lucky birthday boy was, in their group.

Taehyung on the other hand was into getting customized designer clothes for the birthday boy, and Hobi loved it.

However, it was neither his birthday this time, nor any celebration round-the-corner for him to receive anything particular.

"What should I do?" Hobi mused.

A few minutes passed, before he made up his mind.

They won't be going back for practice, until after an hour.

He had enough time to rest, and find out his secret gift-giver, whoever it was.

Hobi tiptoed to his walk-in closet, pulling away the jackets to the side, and stepping inside, settling into the dark.

He made sure to switch-off the closet light, and only kept the lamps beside his bed, on.

Hobi kneeled, and sat down cross-legged, because why not? Who knew when that mysterious guy would be returning to his room.

Hobi had to be prepared. He had to be smart.

For obvious reasons, he couldn't stay standing and then whine about his legs aching, only to be heard by the intruder.

No, Hobi was going to careful this time.

After all, like they say, third time's a charm. Maybe the mystery would be resolved soon
